Four days after Nancy Guthrie turned 84 she was taken from her home overnight on February 1st, 2026. It has been 6 months now. 6 months of not knowing what happened, who did this and most importantly, WHY?!?!? Many notes, emails, communications have been sent to Tucson local TV news stations, TMZ and other news outlets. Some have been debunked after having been traced to a Los Angeles man who wasn't as graceful at hiding his online self as he thought he was. A few notes have been released by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Office. Those two notes that were the original messages that arrived at TMZ, KGUN and KOLD are thought to be the most legitimate. That is now coming up for debate. Six. Months. In. Authorities appear to be no more close to finding Nancy and figuring out who did this... Her Today Show host daughter, Savannah has pleaded with anyone, everyone to share any piece of info that they are thinking about, that the tip-ster might think is too small or insignificant. Two ransom notes now exist in the Nancy Guthrie case, released by the Pima County Sheriff's Department on July 31, and they read like they came from two different people. Tony Brueski, retired FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke, and retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer break down why. The first letter opens with 'Hello Savannah,' demands four million dollars in Bitcoin, and knows specific details inside the house, including a white smart watch on the floor by the bed and a destroyed flood light out back. It reads like a script: deadlines, threats, demands. The second asks for nothing. It claims Nancy died shortly after she was taken, that she's buried in nature, and that the writer hopes her children find peace, and it reads like someone who was actually inside that house, apologizing. The financial trail adds another layer. Coffindaffer's trace of the alleged kidnapper's Bitcoin wallet shows the only funds that ever arrived were roughly three hundred dollars, sent by the FBI itself, and untouched since February 10. No ransom was ever paid, which contradicts Savannah Guthrie's own public statement that the family did their part. Messages written directly to that wallet include the exact words Savannah said on camera, meaning a line to whoever controls it has existed the entire time and gone unanswered. Six months into the case, Sheriff Nanos calls his relationship with the FBI great while thousands of hours of video sit unreviewed, and search teams have returned to the brush behind Nancy's own home since the monsoons. Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Arizona home in a case investigators believe involved a planned kidnapping. Jennifer Coffindaffer thinks two different people wrote the Nancy Guthrie ransom notes. On this True Crime Today conversation with Tony Brueski, the retired FBI Special Agent makes the case note by note. The first reads like a script: deadlines, threats, she will be killed. The second reads like a person who stood inside that Tucson house and lost their nerve — we never intended to hurt her. One voice organized. One voice sorry. If Coffindaffer is right, the question becomes the man behind the second note: who is he, who hired him, and who is he apologizing to?There's a colder read on that second note too. Its language about not grasping the seriousness of her physical condition sounds less like remorse and more like a document written for a future jury, in a state that does not hesitate on the death penalty. An apology, or an insurance policy. Coffindaffer takes a side.The notes aren't the only fresh ground. Coffindaffer traced the alleged kidnapper's Bitcoin wallet after the Pima County Sheriff's Office accidentally published the address in a media release. Her trace shows no ransom was ever paid. The only deposit was roughly three hundred dollars from the FBI in February, untouched since. Messages written directly to the wallet, including the family's own on-camera words about paying, were never answered. A four-million-dollar demand met with total silence.And six months in, Sheriff Nanos describes the FBI relationship as great while conceding thousands of hours of video remain unreviewed. Someone allegedly demanded four million dollars for Nancy Guthrie — and then never came back for it. That's the mystery at the center of this Hidden Killers Live conversation with retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer. She traced the alleged kidnapper's Bitcoin wallet after the Pima County Sheriff's Office accidentally released the address in its own media materials.The trace shows a direct line existed this whole time. Messages were written onto the blockchain, straight to that wallet, including the exact words Savannah Guthrie said on camera about the family's willingness to pay. Anyone controlling that wallet could see them. Nobody ever answered.
