What if your scars aren't something to hide—but a story of God's grace? In this message, Pastor Phil reminds us that the same God who kept His scars can redeem ours too. Your scars don't disqualify you—they testify that the enemy tried to take you out, but couldn't. What you call broken, God calls redeemed.

Where are You? Genesis 3:1-13 Pastor Phil Rushton
This week, Pastor Phil shares his heart for Hope City and prays a powerful prayer over our church inspired by Paul's words in Philippians 1. He reminds us that God has already begun a good work in us, and He's not done yet. Even when we feel stuck, abandoned, afraid, or like failures, God continues His work until the day of Christ Jesus.Send us a text

At North Park Baptist Church, we are, and we aspire to be, a Biblical church, where the Bible stands in authority over us--and we do not stand in authority over the Bible. In today's message, Pastor Phil shows how, in a Biblical church, the Scriptures will guide all of our beliefs and behaviors.
We've all had regrets. Things we wish we said differently, choices we wish we hadn't made, or opportunities we wish we hadn't missed. But what if the most spiritually dangerous thing in your life isn't what you're doing wrong, but what you're not doing at all?In this message, Pastor Phil unpacks Jesus' story from Matthew 25 about the servants entrusted with bags of gold. It's a reminder that every one of us has been given something of value from God—something to make the world better. The question is: what are we doing with it?Send us a text

What If | People Get Ready | Pastor Phil Johnson by Emmanuel Christian Center
In this opening sermon from our 1 Thessalonians series, Pastor Phil looks at Paul's simple yet powerful greeting: “Grace to you and peace.” Behind these words is the reminder that God preserves his church, even in a hostile culture. In Christ, we are given a new identity, rooted in God's grace and marked by his peace, and we're called to live faithfully as citizens of heaven. From our Sunday service at Grace Bible Church of Bend.
Pastor Phil's series in 1st Corinthians explores the Apostle Paul's letter to one of the first local churches. He addresses their struggles and challenges to stay unified as a diverse Body of Christ. We quickly discover that we're not so different today.
In Acts 8, Philip meets a man who had every reason to be excluded—an Ethiopian eunuch, rejected in the temple, treated as an outsider, and told he had no future. And yet, when he asks, “Is there anything to keep me from being baptized?” Philip's answer is simple: “No. Get the water.”In this message, Pastor Phil unpacks what this story means for us today. Baptism isn't about fitting a mold—it's about being welcomed into Christ, into His way, into His body, and into His resurrection life. No matter your past, your story, or the labels you've carried—there is nothing keeping you from belonging.
In Psalm 44, we read of a nation's cry to God: the people of God are living justly, and yet they are suffering. And unlike so many of the other Psalms, this outpouring doesn't end with a resolution about how everything will be worked out in time--it simply ends in the midst of its heartbreak. In today's message, Pastor Phil explores the teachings of this Psalm, and shows us how we can bring our worries to God--and that our hope is to hold on to the love of Christ.

This week, Pastor Phil unpacks Paul's words in Galatians about freedom and what it means to live by the Spirit instead of falling back into performance or rule-keeping. He draws on Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus, showing how the Spirit is like the wind—unseen, unpredictable, but always present. Living in the Spirit isn't about striving harder or checking religious boxes. It's about awakening to God's presence, opening our spiritual eyes and ears, and letting His love shape our lives.

What was the law ever really for?In this message, Pastor Phil walks us through one of Paul's boldest arguments in Galatians—that the law was never the goal. It was a guardian, a teacher, even a protector. But eventually, it gave way to something more powerful: love. We explore how Jesus fulfilled the law not by abolishing it, but by revealing its heart—and how grace invites us into something deeper than rule-keeping.This isn't about being lawless. It's about learning how to love.

Pastor Phil joins Andrew Rapoport on the Rap Report to dive deep into the pressing issues facing the church today, particularly the encroaching influence of wokeness and the social justice movement. The conversation kicks off with a look back at how the church has historically handled attacks on its foundations, with Phil drawing parallels between past and current challenges. They explore the concept of “hijacking virtue,” where seemingly noble causes are manipulated for ulterior motives, alluding to movements like Black Lives Matter and the growing complexity of racial reconciliation efforts. Throughout the episode, they emphasize the need for discernment in identifying idols in our lives and churches that could lead believers astray, ultimately pointing to the importance of a solid biblical worldview. As they wrap up, listeners are encouraged to look critically at their own communities and the teachings they encounter, ensuring they remain anchored in the truth of Scripture amidst a rapidly changing cultural landscape. The episode culminates in a call to action for listeners to become more discerning about the influences shaping their faith and the church community. Andrew and Phil encourage a proactive approach to understanding the root causes of cultural movements and their potential impact on the church. They articulate a vision of the church as a beacon of hope and truth in a world increasingly hostile to its teachings. By grounding themselves in scripture and fostering a community that prioritizes spiritual growth over societal trends, believers can effectively counter the narratives that seek to undermine their faith. The conversation concludes with practical advice for identifying potential pitfalls within church teachings and a reminder of the importance of community and dialogue in navigating these complex issues. Phil's book serves as a resource for those looking to deepen their understanding of these themes, providing a framework for recognizing and combating modern idolatry in all its forms.Takeaways: Andrew and Pastor Phil discuss the modern challenges facing the church, emphasizing the need for biblical interpretation amidst societal pressures. The podcast highlights the importance of recognizing and resisting the hijacking of virtue by secular movements, particularly in the context of social justice. Pastor Phil shares insights from his book, 'Idols on the Hills', addressing how ancient idolatry manifests in contemporary issues like materialism and cultural ideology. Listeners are encouraged to critically evaluate their churches for signs of compromise with modern ideologies, particularly regarding race and morality in light of scripture. The discussion touches on the role of pastors in navigating modern complexities while remaining grounded in the truth of the gospel, avoiding guilt manipulation. Both speakers stress the necessity of maintaining a clear Christian worldview to combat the influences of wokeness and to support biblical teachings effectively. Pastor Phil continued our “Rest on Us” series with a powerful and timely message on spiritual warfare. As children of God, it's essential that we recognize both who we are fighting against and how to prepare for the battle. Spiritual warfare is real—just as real as the physical world we live in. Every day, we are engaged in a battle that isn't visible to the natural eye but has very real consequences. If we don't understand our adversary, we risk being overcome. That's why awareness and preparation are vital. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us of the true nature of our struggle: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Satan is a master of deception. He knows how to plant seeds of doubt in our minds, twist the truth, and build arguments that subtly turn us away from God. His attacks often come in the form of mental and emotional warfare—aimed at discouraging us, confusing us, and making us question our identity in Christ. But we are not powerless. Through God's Word, we learn to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Instead of being ruled by our feelings, we are called to stand on godly truth—truth that doesn't shift with emotion or circumstance. The blood of Jesus has broken the chains of sin and shame. We are no longer captives. Satan wants us to forget that—weakened, distracted, and bound by lies. But God calls us to remember who we are and to walk daily in the freedom He has already secured for us. Missed last night's message?
