Corals protect humans and sustain 25% of all marine life. But reefs are under threat from climate change, and mass bleaching events mean that some scientists estimate they could disappear by 2100.In this episode, Graihagh Jackson is joined by BBC CrowdScience presenter, Caroline Steel. We go to Puerto Rico to see how self-duplicating, carnivorous coral could be the solution. We also speak to the scientist who helped discover what was causing coral bleaching in the first place - back when climate change was commonly denied. This programme was first broadcast in 2024.Guests: Dr Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, Professor of Marine Studies at the University of Queensland in Brisbane Dr Stacey Williams, Executive Director at the Institute for Socio Ecological ResearchPicture: Prickly alcyonarian - Dendronephthya sp. What if the thing that could help heal our divided world is not another answer, method, or ideology, but the rare and sacred act of truly seeing one another? In this evocative episode of the Sacred Changemakers Podcast, I'm joined by my dear friend Nic Askew, creator of Soul Biographies and founder of Inner View Experiences. For more than two decades, Nic has been capturing the soul of humanity on film, offering a body of work that invites us to see ourselves reflected in one another and remember that we belong to each other. This is not a typical interview. In many ways, it is more of an experience than a conversation. Nic brings his quietly rebellious, contrarian, and deeply human perspective to the nature of attention, silence, belonging, and what it means to witness another person without agenda. We explore why unconditional attention may be one of the most revolutionary acts available to us, especially in a world addicted to noise, performance, and separation. Somewhere in the middle of this episode, Nic invited me into the silence, and I find myself sobbing. The experience was potent. It becomes a threshold in the conversation, inviting us to feel the fragility and sacredness of being human.Together, we explore what happens when we stop trying to extract, fix, analyze, or shape one another and instead offer the kind of presence that allows the soul to emerge. This episode is an invitation to listen differently, not simply for ideas, but for what stirs beneath them. It may leave you quieter. It may leave you changed. It may remind you that beneath all our separate stories, there is one same heartbeat.Key TakeawaysWhy unconditional attention may be a revolutionary act in our time. How silence can create space for the soul to emerge. What it means to witness another human being without an agenda. Why belonging is not an idea, but something we remember through presence. How film can become a sacred mirror for the soul of humanity. Why “no-thing” may hold more power than our constant need to do, explain, or solve.Learn More About Today's GuestNic's website ****→ https://soulbiographies.comInner View Experiences → https://www.innerviewexperiences.comNic on LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicaskew/About the HostJayne Warrilow is the founder of Sacred Changemakers, a global community and learning space exploring the intersection of human resonance, regenerative change, and conscious leadership.Learn more at sacredchangemakers.com

In this Thursday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan delivers hopeful news for your pocketbook as U.S. oil producers begin ramping up drilling in Texas, New Mexico, and Venezuela, signaling that relief at the gas pump may eventually be coming—even as the world remains trapped in an oil squeeze caused by the war with Iran and the closed Strait of Hormuz. He breaks down President Trump's latest peace proposal to Tehran, which would require Iran to surrender its highly enriched uranium, halt enrichment for 15 years, and abandon underground nuclear facilities in exchange for lifted sanctions and a gradual reopening of Hormuz. Bryan explains why the next 48 hours could determine whether Iran's regime accepts a deal or risks economic collapse as oil storage runs out and the Trump blockade continues to choke off revenue. He also covers major domestic fallout from the attempted assassination of President Trump, including new confirmation that radical leftist attacker Cole Allen was partly motivated by the Iran war and anti-Trump rhetoric, plus controversy over a Democrat judge accused of showing sympathy toward the suspect. Bryan then highlights DOJ investigations into a Soros-backed Virginia prosecutor accused of protecting criminal illegal immigrants, a Virginia state senator facing bribery allegations tied to a cannabis business, and Barack Obama's latest comments on justice and the rule of law, which Bryan sharply challenges. Plus, Bryan reports on anti-ICE riots at a New York hospital, Texas' push to let police arrest and deport illegal border crossers, the White House effort to kill offshore wind projects in favor of oil and gas investment, and practical medical updates on testosterone and brain cancer, cranberry juice helping antibiotics fight UTIs, and a simple 10-minute floor routine that improves balance and mobility as we age.   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: Trump Iran peace deal proposal 2026 Strait of Hormuz reopening, US oil drilling Permian Basin Venezuela production gas prices summer 2026, Cole Allen Trump assassination attempt motive Iran war anti-Christ rhetoric, Virginia Soros DA Steve Descano DOJ investigation illegal immigrant crimes, Louise Lucas FBI raid cannabis bribery corruption Virginia, Obama Stephen Colbert interview rule of law criticism 2026, anti ICE riot NYC hospital Nigerian illegal immigrant arrest, Texas Senate Bill 4 immigration arrests deportation law, offshore wind farm cancellations Trump oil gas policy, glioblastoma testosterone treatment Cleveland Clinic study, cranberry juice UTI antibiotics research, 10 minute floor exercises balance mobility aging Japan study, Bryan Dean Wright podcast, The Wright Report

Can capitalism save the world it's destroying?Rebecca Henderson thinks so. An economist at Harvard Business School and author of Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire, she has advised some of the world's biggest corporations and argues that capitalism itself — and what drives corporations — urgently needs to change. She's clear-eyed about capitalism's failures — the inequality, the exploitation, the environmental destruction — which is precisely what drives her passion for reforming it from within. And as a climate activist, she's haunted by the consequences if we fail to act.But this conversation goes deeper than economics. Henderson opens up about hitting a personal wall in her climate work — and the unexpected turn that brought wonder back into her life.– Website  Book: "Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire" More writing by Rebecca Henderson –0:00 Introduction3:00 Capitalism Reimagined8:30 The Norway Turnaround16:50 Hitting the Wall28:40 Reweaving Ourselves43:00 Finding the Way Through Wonder Cabinet is hosted by Anne Strainchamps and Steve Paulson. Deji drew on Yoruba philosophy, where character is beauty and truth may be transformative rather than pleasant. Fr. Carron asked whether beauty can help us open our whole selves to reality instead. Matt reflected on how beauty matters for change of state vs. change of being. Mauro argued that beauty saves only if we rehabilitate spirit as a structural dimension of human thought— resonant, decentering, transcendent, and mysterious. The panel was moderated by novelist and theologian Tara Isabella Burton, who also offers closing remarks. The event was sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation.Learn more at www.canbeautysavetheworld.com and www.beautyatwork.net#beautyatwork #beauty #music #ritual #spirit #theology #yoruba #transformationSupport the show

What Will Save the World? There are a lot of problems in the world today. However, you can't have good without bad. It's not always a proportional amount of each, and when the pendulum swings, it usually swings too far to one side. We talk about a multitude of topics, including the "climate crisis", vaccines, NATO, wars, media, governments, and inflation. We also talk about some of the good that is occurring, including a Florida mayor who just proved free market capitalism is more efficient and effective, justice for Ashley Babbitt's wrongful death, and how people are standing up across the world against big government and government overreach. We don't want a one-world government. We want government officials to be held responsible for bad actions. If we want there to be accountability, then we as citizens of the nations of the world will need to stand together to demand governments and their officials be held accountable. Together, we can make the world a better place! In this panel during the international symposium "Can beauty save the world?" held at McGill University, Oct 24-25 2025, Jean-Sébastien Vallée (McGill), Katie Bank (Birmingham), Rebekah Wallace (Oxford), Ian Corbin (Harvard), and Jonathan Berger (Stanford) explored the transformative power of music. The panel was moderated by Stephen Bullivant (St. Mary's London). We began with a performance by an acapella quartet from the Schulich School of Music (McGill).Jean-Sébastien described the conductor's task as creating a sonic space where sound becomes meaning—a community where difference becomes harmony. One of his singers, who had just lost her husband, came to perform because “singing with my choir is the only way I can breathe right now.” Katie and Rebekah described how early modern thinkers saw music as acting on the whole person, not as external stimulus but as an activity of the soul. Ian reflected on the relevance of music to our longing for wholeness, which passes through failure, undoing, despondence. Jonathan discussed his fascinating research on the sonic signatures of sacred spaces, and how the balance between clarity and blur in sound transforms acoustics into awe.The event was sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation.Learn more at www.canbeautysavetheworld.com and www.beautyatwork.net#beauty #music #transformation #philosophy #musicology #spiritualitySupport the show

This is the opening panel for the international symposium "Can beauty save the world?" held at McGill University, Montreal, Oct 24-25, 2025.We begin with introductions from Dan Cere (McGill), Brandon Vaidyanathan (Catholic University of America), Charles Taylor (McGill), and Tara Isabella Burton (Catholic University of America), followed by a panel discussion between Sean Kelly (Harvard), Elaine Scarry (Harvard), and Richard Kearney (Boston College), moderated by Bill Barbieri (Catholic University of America)Sean Kelly reflected that beauty moves us beyond ourselves. It saves us from the flattening of meaningful differences. To encounter beauty is to order one's life around the object of love. When we long for others to share in that recognition, we glimpse beauty's political potential—it calls us into conversation rather than conflict.Elaine Scarry deepened that insight, reminding us that the opposite of beauty is not ugliness, but injury. Beauty and justice both arise from a sense of fairness and the desire to repair harm. Beauty's lasting impact, she noted, is generative—it makes us want to create.Richard Kearney drew on Gerard Manley Hopkins's image of the “pied” world—speckled, varied, alive with difference. Beauty, he said, is not pure symmetry but aftering: it often arrives through suffering and loss, reconciling the universal and the particular. And Charles Taylor reminded us that beauty cannot be defined apart from itself. Its relation to truth is reciprocal, not hierarchical. To understand one, we must hold the other in view. “That,” he said, “is how beauty can save the world.”The symposium was sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation.Learn more at www.canbeautysavetheworld.com and www.beautyatwork.net#beautyatwork #beauty #aesthetics #philosophy #philosophyofbeautySupport the show

As the energy crisis impacts start to diversify across Asia, Gary and Hannah ask a simple question: Can K-pop save the world? This week's journey takes us from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos to Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, plus Maldives and Sri Lanka. En route we assess some of the radiating outcomes of war in the Middle East that go far beyond airlines and air connectivity. And we turn to South Korea for hope and inspiration. Will the BTS World Tour that kicks off this weekend inspire a bigger economic boom than Taylor Swift's Eras money machine? And can K-pop Demon Hunters' concert dates instil an upbeat vibe throughout the region?

We unpack the idea that you can care deeply, take action, and still refuse to live in a state of emotional melodrama.Margaret explains how equanimity helps you recover balance more quickly when you get hijacked by fear, anger, or despair. We connect this to nervous system regulation, the 24 hour news cycle, and the cultural pressure to prove you care by being constantly devastated.
