This is a podcast where we sit down with some very successful people from the world of business, entertainment and sport about their life's journey and what got them to the position that they're in today. In today's episode we are chatting with Neil Perry. Neil Perry is one of Australia's most influential restaurateurs. He has spent decades creating iconic venues and special experiences through places like Rockpool, Spice Temple and now on to his latest creation Margaret. Neil has also been creating menus for QANTAS since 1997, and published many cookbooks and good weekend columns. Neil's approach to successful business is quite different to what we may expect of the corporate world; he believes in and acts through what he calls the care philosophy. He has a unique importance of what it takes to be successful in the hospitality world and places a lot of importance on building the right culture around you. In this chat Neil speaks passionately about social issues like climate, sustainability, the pandemic and supporting visa holders in Australia, and he considers the platform of which being a successful chef has given him a privilege. As for all of these podcasts, Shaw and Partners have generously donated $10k to the charity of choice of each of our guests. We discuss who that money goes to in this chat. This podcast is brought to you by Shaw and Partners It is hosted by Gus Worland and produced by Keeshia Pettit See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Dirty Linen's summer series rolls on with Frank Pham, otherwise known as Culinary Frank on YouTube where his ASMR cooking videos have hundreds of thousands of fans. I think I understood ASMR - sounds that inspire 'brain massage' - properly for the first time watching Frank chop, stir and slide pans around. Frank is also a chef at Spice Temple and it's awesome to hear about his most memorable meals.https://www.instagram.com/culinary.frank/?hl=enFollow Dirty Linen on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/dirtylinenpodcastFollow Dani Valenthttps://www.instagram.com/danivalentFollow Rob Locke (Executive Producer)https://www.instagram.com/foodwinedine/Follow Huck (Executive Producer)https://www.instagram.com/huckstergram/LISTEN TO OUR OTHER FOOD PODCASTShttps://linktr.ee/DeepintheWeedsNetwork

This week I'm speaking with Cindia Luest, a writer, entrepreneur and creative powerhouse behind Spice Journeys, a lifestyle company that draws upon culinary storytelling with a mission to bring food and culture to life while sparking conversations for positive change. In the episode, Cindia draws us into her exquisite and sensory world of food, inviting us to see it as a window into tradition, ritual, creativity and pleasure. We talk about her new novel The Spice Temple, a mysterious story set in a Swiss villa that weaves together a tale of magic, manipulation and vengeance – and of course food! As Cindia shares the process of writing her book, we delve into an inspiring conversation about creativity, finding inspiration, working though the functional and celebratory stages of writing and things authors can think about when it comes to the big question of how to approach publishing. Whether you're a writer, creator or a passionate foodie, this episode is for you. Order the book here: https://thespicetemple.com
Jason hears the life story of Neil Perry, one of Australia's most famous chefs who launched iconic restaurants like Rockpool and Spice Temple while serving as coordinator for Qantas flight catering.
As we approach Chinese New Year, Jane has dropped into Spice to Temple to chat with iconic Australian chef and restaurateur, Neil Perry. Today they discuss the classic Chinese dish, pippies with pork and Shaoxing wine, and it's so good that it’s also known as "one of the best dishes under heaven". It might sound like it’s going to be tricky, but once you hear Jane and Neil demystify the process, you’ll be ravenous and keen to heat up the wok, because it’s easier than you think.
