If you’ve been wondering what all the buzz is about around zero waste and sustainability, then you’re gonna love what I’m serving up for you today...Carly Bergman is a vegan and zero waste advocate who studied sustainability and eco-spirituality at Florida Gulf Coast University, and is certified in permaculture design. Together with her boyfriend, Brendan, she founded Sustainable Duo, a brand that makes sustainability trendy and helps people to connect more with nature while providing common but sustainable everyday items that are usually made of plastic, like eating utensils, toothbrushes, and hygiene kits. Carly and The Sustainable Duo is also known for Futuristic February - a challenge they run in the month of February to bring global awareness to the amount of waste we as individuals accumulate each month while providing advice for simple, sustainable swaps to decrease our carbon footprint. The couple also founded the company Plant Protein, which provide holistic protein bars that are not only vegan, but also - you guessed it - sustainable. For more about Carly Bergman:Website: https://sustainableduo.com/Sustainable Duo IG: www.instagram.com/sustainable_duo/Carly’s IG: www.instagram.com/carly_bergman/FB: www.facebook.com/SustainableDuo/ Thanks for listening! After recording this episode, I just wanna garden, chill, and drink kombucha. The simple life sounds like the way to go! At first look, Carly and Brenden might seem a little extreme. They are committed to a zero waste, vegan, and eco-friendly lifestyle which you can see from their electric car, their mass amounts of produce purchased, and the fact that they never have a grocery sack with them. BUT what you'll see from this conversation is that it's much more simple than it looks - Carly and Brenden are all about going back to the basics! To view the full show notes, continue reading here or visit my website: www.heartfelthippie.com When Carly and Brenden started dating (all thanks to Brenden's beard), they combined their powers and made The Sustainable Duo - their business and social platform that teaches regular peoples like you and me how to live more ethically and sustainably! From the very first Instagram post I ever saw from them years ago, I have not stopped learning from this power couple since. I'm not joking when I say they are #goals. In today's conversation, we talk about why they eat vegan and how it doesn't have to be as complicated as we might think. We also chatted about some other passions of theirs, including plant-based medicine and the clean water movement. I learned a lot from them, as usual, but I also learned that I need to get them back on the show quickly for Part 2 (and part 3, 4, 5, etc…) because we have soooo much more to talk about. I hope this conversation makes you question things. I hope it makes you rethink some of the common things you have always been told - like that protein comes mainly from meat - and think about where that information is coming from. I hope you question if buying more stuff and owning more things will make you happy like so many advertisers want us to believe. And I hope you question the ways in which you thought it might be difficult to live a sustainable lifestyle, and that you start to see that it can actually be pretty simple if we don't overthink it. Now, head on over to see them in action on the gram and watch them get zero-wasted! 9: How We Made Sustainability Trendy | Carly Bergman

Happiness From Within

Welcome to episode 9 of ‘Happiness from Within’. In today’s episode I talk to Carly Bergman, a vegan and zero waste advocate who has placed sustainability at the heart of her beliefs. Together with her boyfriend Brendan she founded Sustainable Duo, a company that makes sustainability trendy and helps people connect and take care of the Earth.   Key takeaways: The real duo is the relationship between you and the planet Things can be trendy and sustainable Sustainability is about being resourceful You can create a beautiful wedding that does no harm to the planet Just because something is vegan does not mean it’s healthy Communication is the key to working together as a couple   Carly discovered the world of veganism and sustainability when she started working for a raw vegan juice bar at the age of 16. All the different insights she gained from her coworkers influenced her immensely and she decided to pursue a degree in permaculture and create sustainable and ‘smart’ gardens.   After meeting her boyfriend Brendan at a vegan festival, the couple founded their first company Sustainable Duo Zero Waste, which makes turns items into sustainable products but with a trendy and fashionable feel to it. Examples include sustainable, cutlery, straws and other items which are usually plastic. Their mission is to connect people back with Earth, and this means first taking care of our planet. The couple then founded a second company called Plant Protein which produces holistic protein bars which are not only vegan, but also sustainable. Their products are now used by well-known athletes, actors and celebrities such as Wilson Chandler.   As a couple working together on improving the sustainability of our planet, their work inspires others to do the same, including friends and family. But thanks to social media, their message is able to reach a huge audience, which in turn encourages others to take action on their lives. In this amazing journey of sustainability, they not only have learnt the process of positivity from within, but also a way to make a huge impact on people and the planet.   Links: https://sustainableduo.com/ https://www.instagram.com/sustainable_duo/ https://www.instagram.com/carly_bergman/ https://www.planetprotein.com/ Book: The Modern Enneagram https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Enneagram-Discover-Who-You/dp/1939754070 Wilson Chandler: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilson_Chandler Marie Kondo: https://www.netflix.com/title/80209379 https://meetingoftheminds.org/   Connect with Janet Prado Join JANET’S FREE “Weekly Motivation” Email List if You Are Looking for That “Happiness From Within” & Wanna Get Epic & Inspiring Emails Weekly Sign up FREE Here ==> http://bit.ly/2QkwSoy Transform Your Water Auro Liquid Gold http://bit.ly/2ufkJZx Grab Your Free Meditation Audio https://apple.co/37CbhxT Grab Your Free PDF 7 Steps To Find Happiness Now http://bit.ly/35eJRwg Connect with Janet Prado YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXCnqsIP69NGlsKzbfbucXg Connect with Janet on Instagram www.instagram.com/happinessfromwithinnow
