As we wind down in the month of December, I'm always in awe at how fast it goes by. I thought it would be a good reminder to slow down this month, to really practice our mindfulness muscles. It's the season of giving, so let's give ourselves a break and remind ourselves of what we can do to really live in the moment. Today, we will have Seena and Stuart Haines dive into mindfulness and offer strategies on how we can build our mindfulness muscles. Picture this: you're zipping through life on autopilot, not noticing the tension building in your body until you flop onto the couch at night. Sound familiar? Well, you're not alone! This episode dives headfirst into what mindfulness really means. It's a superpower that helps us pay attention to the here and now—our thoughts, feelings, and the world around us—without putting a "good" or "bad" label on it. Our brains can do amazing things, but sometimes they need a little nudge to calm down. Mindfulness isn't about shutting off our thoughts (because hello, ideas and creativity!), but it's about taming the internal chaos that can overcome us. Recommended Resources:Virtual Workshop: Mind Full to Mindful: Strategies to Enhance Teaching and LearningWellbeing Elixir Community with resources: https://www.wellbeingelixir.org/ Online Course: Wellbeing Elixir CourseBook: Real Happiness: A 28-day program to realize the power of meditation

The holidays can trigger a lot of unhealthy drinking patterns, especially if you've been exploring the sober-curious life, or setting more concrete boundaries around your alcohol consumption. How do you stick with it and create a new relationship with booze? In this re-release, we throw it back to a deep, hard (and hella vulnerable) look at our relationship with alcohol, and bring you along for the ride as we reevaluate how to move forward with booze.  We're not here to convince you to quit drinking — we love ourselves a boozy night out as much as the next queen, but while we aspire to age like a fine wine, our former drinking habits have not aged well, and getting drunk definitely isn't serving us in our 30s. This is a choose your own adventure, because we're leaving labels — along with getting blackout — behind us. Whether you've been sober-curious, or you just want to live a more balanced life, you don't need to label yourself as a drinker or non-drinker: it's just about exploring your relationship with alcohol mindfully, getting self-aware and honest with yourself, and setting boundaries around drinking when you need to in any situation. If you're curious about what a more mindful relationship with alcohol looks like, grab a glass of your favorite bevy and tune in as we chat about: Why drinking is so embedded in our cultureThe mental and physical impacts of boozeCailyn's journey to a more sober-curious lifeGill's journey to drinking more mindfully and intentionallyUnderstanding the “why” behind your drinking habitsUncovering your drinking triggersFiguring out what type of booze works best for you (Byeee tequila shots!)Setting clear boundaries with yourself and othersDealing with the social pressure to drinkOur favourite alcohol-free activities (that are still maximum fun)Science-backed tips for dealing with hangoversWe hope this episode helps you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationship with alcohol, no matter what journey you're on!  As we step into November, a month synonymous with Thanksgiving in the United States and a time for being more in tune with what we are grateful for, Marianne shares a recent experience that reminded her how impactful learning to be more present and embracing a practice of gratitude can be in our lives.  Marianne shares a few simple activities to help you become more mindful:Body Scan: Conduct a daily body scan to become aware of physical sensations and tensions.Nature Walks: Spend time in nature, focusing on the sights, sounds, and smells around you.Mindful Eating: Savor each bite during meals, paying attention to flavors and textures.Journaling: Keep a mindfulness journal to record your thoughts and experiences, promoting self-reflection.And for those working on being more grateful, she talks about trying some of these practices:Gratitude Journal: Write down things you're thankful for daily using a gratitude journal or app.Three Good Things: Reflect on and record three positive experiences each day.Gratitude Jar: Whenever something or someone makes you grateful, jot it down and place it in a jar, then read them all at the end of the year.Lastly, Marianne reminds those going through personal challenge, to embrace these practices as they can help you remember all the good in your life and the progress you've made, even if you're not quite where you thought you would be. Welcome to this week's episode of "Mindful Living with Amy Novotny". In this episode, we'll be talking about how to calm down our nervous system and get out of the fight or flight response.Have you ever experienced that feeling of being stuck in a state of heightened anxiety, where everything seems like a threat and you feel constantly on edge? Well, that's what we call the fight or flight response, and it's something that our bodies have evolved to do in response to stressors. But sometimes, our bodies can get stuck in this state, even when there's no real threat present. And that's when we start to experience symptoms like anxiety, panic attacks, and even physical health problems. So, how can we get out of the fight or flight response and calm down our nervous system?Firstly, it's important to recognize when you're experiencing this response. Some signs may include feeling tense, heart racing, or sweating profusely. Once you've identified this, it's time to start practicing some simple techniques that can help calm you down. One technique that works really well for many people is deep breathing. Simply take a deep breath in, hold it for a few seconds, and then slowly release it. You can repeat this a few times until you feel calmer.Another technique is to use mindfulness to become aware of your thoughts and emotions. Often, just acknowledging what's going on in your mind can help to reduce the intensity of your fight or flight response.Additionally, taking time to do relaxing activities such as taking a walk in nature, reading a book, or taking a bath can also help you relax.Remember, it's important to take care of your body and mind by practicing self-care and getting the rest you need. This will not only help you feel better, but also help to keep your nervous system calm and in balance. To reach out to Amy Novotny Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dramynovotny/ (https://www.facebook.com/dramynovotny/)LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-amy-novotny/ (https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-amy-novotny/)Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anovotn/ (https://www.instagram.com/anovotn/)Twitter: https://twitter.com/amynovotnyaz (https://twitter.com/amynovotnyaz)website: https://pabrinstitute.com/ (https://pabrinstitute.com/)Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DrAmyNovotny (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvRZjkWBxOArmujS9rUN8ig)Reach out to Infusion HealthPensighthttps://pensight.com/x/infusionhealthWebsite http://infusionhealthpodcast.com/?fbclid=IwAR0q2WW-No0O4XRbgRNVdmgo0vhqvQ18w2k3N9UohNl2vRbazqHuQFjU00IWe're excited to have you with us for today's show, and we hope you'll tune in for more great discussions on FB! How can the simple act of paying attention make you more creative and spark joy in your every day life?Rob Walker, the acclaimed author of "The Art of Noticing," is here to show you how to use your attention to sharpen your senses, attune to your inner creator, and uncover hidden beauty and meaning in everyday moments.During the interview, we discuss one of my favorite exercises for honing your observational skills, The Color Walk, and how you can begin to use it to engage your own Art of Noticing. Rob emphasizes how this simple (and fun!) challenge can help us slow down, pay attention, and savor the richness of the present moment.Rob also shares his passion for demystifying mindfulness practices, highlighting how accessing the benefits of presence does NOT require you to be a perfect yogi or a meditation guru (or even a breathworker!) Though I am a breathwork facilitator and teach some of the more "intensive" mindfulness practices, I am in complete agreement with him on this and a big advocate for incorporating mindfulness in the ways that feel great to you! One of the most practice applications of The Art of Noticing that I use in my coaching is supporting people in discerning what is meaningful to them – which is an underlying theme Rob mentions in the episode.Whether you're an artist, a business professional, or simply someone seeking a more meaningful existence, this conversation will help you untether the creative inside of you. The human mindset is a powerful force that shapes our thoughts, behaviors, and life experiences. Understanding and harnessing it is key to personal growth and success. But, have you ever wondered just how much control you have over your own mindset? In this episode, I had an insightful talk with Sean Marshall, a Mindset Coach and Founder of Future Pace Coaching and Consulting. Our discussion ventured deep into the human mindset. Sean discussed the idea of fluid mindset and shares tips for mastering emotional control when faced with triggering situations. Sean shared what Shadow Work is and how it helped his clients.  Tune in for an enriching exploration of mindset and the techniques to harness its potential. --- Listen to the podcast here: Mindset Matters: Strategies for Mindful Living with Sean Marshall Welcome to Action's Antidotes, your antidote to the mindset that keeps you settling for less. I start with this tagline every single time, “Your antidote to the mindset that keeps you settling for less,” because, in its essence, this podcast is all about mindset. I share all kinds of stories about all kinds of people that have done amazing things and follow their true passions, follow their true dreams, but one of the things that is required in order to do that is the right mindset and it's my hope that these stories, by being exposed to enough of them and being exposed to enough of the type of content that I provide, will help you improve your mindset so that you believe that whole, “I can, I will, and I should,” as far as whatever it is that you really want out of your life, in essence. My guest today, Sean Marshall, the founder of Future Pace Coaching and Consulting, is indeed a mindset coach and his work is all about improving his clients' mindset. ---   Sean, welcome to the program.    Thank you, Steven. Thanks for having me here.    Thank you for joining us and let's start, let's dive right into mindset. How would you describe your mindset as you approach Future Pace or any of your other endeavors in life?  So what I find serves me best, okay, is my mindset, I would imagine, just like most people's, is fluid. Sometimes, my mindset is better than others than at other times and so what I like to look at my mindset is I'm curious. If I'm on a roll, I'm curious. If I'm having a day or two where things might present some opportunities for me to grab a learning to help me move down the path, that's where the curiosity comes in. And so I'm always looking at my behaviors and asking myself, by doing this, is this the person I want to become?Click To Tweet So that's in any situation where you have a choice? Is that what you default to ask yourself?    I don't believe that anybody has arrived.   Yeah.   We are all on our own journey, we're all on our own path, and when I find myself presented with situations where I might look at things a little sideways or they might have me curious and just kind of showing up in a way that maybe isn't who I'd want to be, I have to ask myself, I really have to ask myself, “What's going on here?” If I remain stuck, if I remain triggered, if I remain angry or trapped in some type of emotion, effectively, what I'm doing is I'm giving all my power away. And it's one thing to say, “Oh, that person drives me crazy,” and you're pointing your finger at somebody, it's not so much that you have three fingers pointing back at you saying, “Well, take a look at yourself,” it's the fact that the person that you're pointing at is the very thing or very person that you're giving all of your power away to. And so when I work with my clients, I have to be able to do this with myself too. Anything that I asked my clients to do, it's something that I've done for myself. I have to be able to be congruent in what I'm asking my clients and for that space, for that reason, for that purpose, I'm constantly running myself through these questions,
