Hosts Josh and Jamie celebrate Christmas with a double feature of the absolute horniest, most existential feel-bad Christmas movies (and Josh's personal favourites): Tim Burton's BATMAN RETURNS (1992) and Stanley Kubrick's EYES WIDE SHUT (1999). Next week's episode is a patron-exclusive bonus episode on THEY LIVE (1988) and REPO MAN (1984), you can get access to that episode (and all past + future bonus episodes) by subscribing to our $5 tier on patreon: www.patreon.com/sleazoidspodcast Intro // 00:00-11:00 BATMAN RETURNS // 11:00-59:25 EYES WIDE SHUT // 59:25-1:50:06 Outro // 1:50:06-1:54:50 Josh's Twitter: https://twitter.com/thejoshl Josh's Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/thejoshl/ Jamie's Twitter: https://twitter.com/jamiemilleracas Jamie's Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/jamiemiller/

For the second week in our 2018 Christmas series, we're welcoming back special guest Todd Davis to take a look at yet another Christmas sequel! This time, it's Tim Burton's BATMAN RETURNS. While we haven't yet discussed Burton's original BATMAN film from 1989 (look for that in the upcoming year!), we'll discuss how the success of that film led to Burton reluctantly returning to the franchise and being given carte blanche create the most Tim Burton-y superhero film of all! We'll also discuss whether or not its reputation as one of the most well-regarded Batman films and one of the better films in Burton's career makes it a worthy addition to the Psychotronic Hall of Fame! What do you think? VOTE: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/R3XYN99 We'll be back next week with the final film in this Christmas series, a film that's a perennial favorite around the homes of both of our hosts, and one that celebrated its 30th anniversary earlier this year! We'd love to hear your thoughts! The MFF podcast is back, and this week we are talking about one of the darkest superhero movies ever made. Tim Burton's Batman Returns was a financial success in 1992, but its dark themes and lack of Batman turned many people off and left them never wanting to eat fish ever again (The Penguin eating fish = horrible). We love this movie and the all-in performances from Michelle Pfeiffer and Danny DeVito never get old. In this podcast, you will hear us talk about the muddled production process, Keaton cutting his lines and Christopher Walken saying the word "Bauble."
We conclude our review of Tim Burton's "Batman Returns", including (mostly) everything from the lighting of Gotham's Christmas tree to the final march of the Penguin.Cat got your tongue-in-cheek humor? We'll keep milking our Batman puns right to the very end. We'll even throw in a horrible Christopher Walken impression and a Rocket Man parody, just to keep it lively.Want more shock value in the future? Part 1 of Episode 3 releases in just one week, 11/20! Joel Schumacher certainly deserved all the harsh criticism he received after his gross mishandling of the Batman franchise. Both of his Batman movies were overly colorful, campy, kid-friendly piles of crap. It should be noted, however, that Schumacher didn't exactly inherit a flawless property. When viewed through modern perspectives, pushing all nostalgia aside, Tim Burton's Batman Returns is undeniably quite silly and embarrassing.TortureVision Rating: BADGood features were better than expected. Bad features were awful, yet still enjoyable. Abortions were utter torment to sit through.Right-Click "Save As" to download .MP3!

SPECIAL CROSSOVER EPISODE! If a podcast can have friends, then the Pod People Podcast is one of the best friends that Bombast has. If you don't know, that show has a focus on Young Adult fiction, and for this episode, we cross over with the hosts of Pod People, Emily White and Vic Caswell. We start off the episode with a round of the game show, "Hip Hop Artist or Superhero?". From there, we move on to Matt's homework assignment for the show, which was to get a date and go to the GZA concert, how to pick up chicks while buying tires, and we talk about Phil's novel, "Peter Brown Goes to Boston", and Phil talks about Emily's YA novel, "Elemental", which he just finished reading. We also talk about a tendency of male character in YA to be what girls wished guys were like, and we compare that to unrealistic women characters in superhero comics. If you listen further, you'll find out the reason that Phil needs to go see a Twilight movie in the theater, and you'll hear Mat ramble on about the Bill Murray movie, "What about Bob?". We round out the end of the show with the epic topic, Sexiest Male and Female Superheroes. The topic does derail briefly into a disagreement about Tim Burton's "Batman Returns" (1992). We laugh a lot during this episode, and I hope you enjoy it, dear listener, because we had blast recording it.
Episode three of this podcast series investigates Christopher Nolan's blockbuster "Batman Begins" in relation to the visual and narrative conventions of film noir. Richard and Shannon ask what it means to dub a modern film "noir," as many reviews of "Batman Begins" have done. They discuss the complexity of Christian Bale's Batman, and how it seems to draw on sources as diverse as hard-boiled fiction and Frank Miller's graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns." Likewise, they discuss the visual style of "Batman Begins" in relation to such films as Fritz Lang's "Metropolis," Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner," and Tim Burton's "Batman Returns." A great overview of "noir" from its origins to the present. This podcast is brought to you by Clute and Edwards of www.noircast.net.
