Puntata a cura di Untimoteo.Network: NBC. Em and Laura are making the case that TV is the place where opposites attract love stories actually live—because sometimes you need multiple seasons to make us believe the yearning. They're unpacking why these unlikely couples hit so different when you watch them unfold across episodes rather than a two-hour movie, complete with a deep dive into exactly why enemies-to-lovers and sunshine-meets-grump dynamics are the peak of on-screen romance. It's all about the gradual shift, the moment they stop hating each other, the way they complete each other. Expect Em and Laura to convince you that you absolutely need to start rewatching these shows immediately. The Spill drops the tea twice a day in this feed so follow us for all the latest entertainment news OR you can WATCH our show in full length video on the Apple Podcast app - make sure your phone is up to date and enjoy the watch! What if Star Trek had spun off into a full-blown sitcom starring Lwaxana Troi? To kick off Season 15 of The Trek Files, Larry Nemecek welcomes actor, writer, comedian, and Star Trek: Lower Decks star Tawny Newsome for a deep dive into an early-1990s pitch centered on Majel Barrett Roddenberry's Betazoid ambassador. The document up for discussion is a never-produced sitcom concept built around Lwaxana Troi; equal parts fish-out-of-water comedy, family chaos, and larger-than-life Trek energy. Together, Larry and Tawny unpack why the pitch feels both very of-its-time and strangely ahead of its time, especially now that Star Trek comedy has found new life through projects like Lower Decks. As someone who has not only starred in Trek comedy but also developed her own comedic Trek ideas, Tawny brings a unique perspective to the conversation: what makes sci-fi comedy work and how Gene Roddenberry's world always had room for humor alongside the philosophy and adventure. It's a fascinating look at a road not taken in Star Trek history and a reminder that sometimes the weirdest ideas in the archive are the most revealing. Think of a 90s sitcom. Any one. Now think of the stereotypes of a 90s sitcom. That's right, you're thinking of The King of Queens. Featuring the legendary Jerry Stiller, a baby faced Patton Oswalt and a shorts wearing Kevin James, it was the last comedy to premiere in the 90s to finish its run on network tv. We're talking NY sports, old school big screen TVs and the most wait a minute moments we've had in a while. WithGeoff KerbisMax SingerThanks To Riverside For Sponsoring The Pod! Episode 293This week we celebrate the moms, aunties, bonus moms, grandmas, big sisters, and mother figures who helped raise us, guide us, and shape the memories we still carry today. This special Mother's Day episode is packed with nostalgia, laughter, and community stories that instantly transport you back home.We asked the M3P universe:Who were your Top 5 sitcom moms of all time? What's the weirdest Mother's Day gift you ever gave—or received? And what was the universal “mom is MAD” signal in your household? From “the look” across the grocery store to hearing your full government name yelled from another room, we revisit the little moments every generation somehow understands.Along the way, we react to everything that happened at WWE Backlash, discussing standout matches, surprises, and the fallout from the latest event in WWE.We also dive into the chaos surrounding Target stores during the buildup to **Pokémon's 30th anniversary celebration, talking collectibles, crowd madness, and why nostalgia culture feels bigger than ever. And because no M3P episode is complete without a deep nostalgia spiral, we debate whether classic 80s and 90s sitcom tropes could survive in today's world—from old-school parenting moments to the wildly unhinged storylines we somehow accepted as normal growing up.This episode is funny, heartfelt, chaotic, and comforting in the exact way a Mother's Day episode should be.Listen to the Late Night Crip Talk - Two Crippled Homies joining forces to help others spread awareness about the ins and outs of what it is like to live a life with a disability.Check out these delicious treats from Cakes and More By Sabrina. "The Offspring" (March 12, 1990) Yeah, we finally did an hourlong — and if you're surprised that we picked Star Trek: The Next Generation, then you are probably unaware how many fans of GEE are also huge Star Trek nerds. We're joined by friend Mike Gizienski, who knows more about the Star Trek franchise than we do, to discuss the episode with Data's daughter Lal, which isn't especially any of the letters in LBGTQ but manages to tread into each of their territories. Trust us, it's a great episode of TV even if you don't know the difference between an Andorian and a J'naii. We have episode transcripts courtesy of Sarah Neal. Our logo was designed by Rob Wilson. And then there is Reba McEntire, who has moved between music and television throughout her career. She's back with another season of "Happy's Place," another program that brings an ensemble to a bar setting. In this episode, Pablo Castelblanco, who plays Steve on "Happy's Place," talks with Miller about the show and his background.

The writers behind the hotly anticipated whodunnit novel The Ending Writes Itself - billed as being by Evelyn Clarke but in fact written by Cat Clarke and VE Schwab - talk about satirising the publishing industry and about the challenges and pleasures of writing collaboratively. And as The Coming of Age - a new exhibition at the Wellcome Collection in London - explores experiences and perceptions of ageing, art historian Richard Cork and artist Clare Shenstone reflect on how older people have been represented in art and culture. Plus why is the V&A Dundee seeking a design team to makeover its galleries less than ten years since it opened? Architect and former editor of The Architects Journal Rory Olcayto explains. Arcand Fire: Sitcom pitches and MacGyver mechanics
Ray Romano built one of the biggest sitcoms of the 1990s, made hundreds of millions of dollars, and still somehow feels underrated. In this episode, we break down Ray Romano's stand-up roots, his rise to Everybody Loves Raymond, and why his legacy deserves more respect. In this episode of Why Are You Laughing?, we go back to Ray Romano's early struggles in stand-up comedy, when he was grinding it out in clubs long before network fame. We talk about how David Letterman played a major role in helping Everybody Loves Raymond get on the air, and how Romano's low-key delivery and relatable writing style separated him from flashier comedians of his era.We also dig into the parts of his career that don't get talked about enough. From the criminally underrated Men of a Certain Age, to working with Martin Scorsese on Vinyl and The Irishman, to his more recent independent film Somewhere in Queens, Romano's post-sitcom work shows range and depth that often gets overlooked. Was he overshadowed by shows like Seinfeld and Friends? Has his stand-up been underappreciated? And why does a comic this successful still feel like a “quiet legend” in comedy history? This is a full career deep dive into Ray Romano's stand-up, sitcom fame, and underrated legacy.0:00 Intro3:02 Family background7:25 Stand-Up comedy roots17:45 Newsradio firing24:01 David Letterman influence27:36 Everybody Loves Raymond36:19 Other work41:15 Martin Scorsese45:52 Netflix special50:34 Somewhere in Queens58:26 Norm MacdonaldFOR ALL THINGS BLIND MIKEhttp://blindmike.netFOR ALL THINGS CRAIGGERShttp://www.verygoodshow.orgFOR ALL THINGS HACKRIDEhttp://hackridethedemon.comFOR ALL THINGS DJ ELECTRA FRYhttp://djelectrafry.com
