This episode of the Rewriting Dad Podcast is called "Over the Curb" with Meg Murphy and Leslie Bradford-Scott. Today Leslie recounts Brad's last moments before his death. Leslie points out how strange it was for Claudio to blame himself for Uncle Tony's death but accepted her brother Brad's death as simply God's will.Leslie then shares the events of Brad's burial at sea and how traumatic it was for her to see her mom try to jump overboard to join him. And to make matters worse, Leslie introduces Mark, how he popped out of nowhere and was their primary suspect for the robbery of precious jewelry that happened a week or two after Brad's death.Leslie tells us how years later, as a divorced single mom, a childhood dream came back into her life and planted roots for her future.HIGHLIGHTS02:40 Brad's last moments in the Mercedes 09:30 Claudio rationalizes Brad's death17:51 Brad's burial at sea19:32 Mark's alleged thievery and Leslie's violent responseQUOTES06:09 "We didn't have to be in Florida and we didn't have to have our kids there. We didn't have to if it wasn't for him. It was all his making. His election. His whatever. Everything he did, whatever he did, all comes down to him."09:43 "Right then and there, I knew the reason why my son had died. I said to my friend solemnly, God has called Bradley for something important he wants him to do in his kingdom. There is no doubt in my mind this is what's happened. I don't know for what purpose, but I am convinced God needs him. If that's the case, I don't mind him leaving me like this without even saying goodbye."18:47 "I wanted desperately to see him one more time before he went but he wasn't prepared, right? Because there was no open casket. There was no viewing. And that's the image I have in my head that haunts me. It was shocking. Horrifying. And then to see my mom try to jump off the boat to get him. Like, I'm coming with you! I'm coming with you! It was absolutely traumatic."22:15 "Your fucking daughter has been chasing me around town with a gun. I had just lost her, I'm afraid she might find me again. She took a shot at me twice and put two holes in the rear fender of my car. She's gone nuts!" 22:38 "I grabbed her purse, looked in, sure enough, the gun was there with 2 bullets spent. I didn't know what to say but she said it for me, 'dad, the police won't do anything about it. You could've been wiped out of all the jewelry that had been stolen. All I wanted was to see justice done.'"------------------------------RESOURCEShttps://www.instagram.com/rewritingdad/https://www.facebook.com/rewritingdadhttps://www.rewritingdad.ca/Support the show (https://www.rewritingdad.ca/plans-pricing)

Leslie Duke is an oil painter based in Springville, Utah. Her enthusiasm for the arts was apparent from a young age, and her parents fostered her interest by signing her up for classes by local artists. Leslie went on to study illustration and graphic design at Brigham Young University, but after a few years of working in the field she felt dissatisfied. Sensing she needed a change, she challenged herself to start painting again. She began with small still lifes, setting a goal to paint every day for a month. Her daily practices soon unleashed her passion for capturing beauty in everyday subjects, and she knew it was time to transition to painting full-time. Today Leslie’s works are celebrated for conveying profound emotions and moods through her masterful use of color, space and texture. In this episode of the Celebrating Art Podcast, Leslie joins Susan Morrow Potje to talk about her journey, including how her time apprenticing with one local artist shaped her approach to art today. Leslie also shares lessons she’s learned from fellow artists, especially the importance of following her feelings and painting what she loves.
Today Leslie speaks about how she applied the skills she learned in helping her own son to become the absolute best in what still remains a very niche market. Leslie gets into how and why she keeps coaching while having so much on her plate and constantly traveling.
Today Leslie answers the question, “Is triumphant Christianity possible?” Discover the stunning and beautiful truth that the pattern of true Christianity is full of victory, triumph, and ardent devotion to the King of all kings. If you find yourself growing weary in your walk with Christ, this episode is a cup of cool water straight from the well of His Word! Support this podcast
Thrilled as always to welcome Leslie Halleck back on the show. You will remember Leslie from our two part series on Understanding Natural Light and Propagation 101. She has two books, Plant Parenting- a guide to plant propagation and Gardening Under Lights. Today Leslie joins me to discuss everything we need to know about grow lights. Winter is coming plant friends, and many of us might need to take the plunge with additional grow lights to make sure our plants are happy and healthy. Personally, as my plant collection grew, I quickly realized I did not have the amount of light needed for the amount of plants I had collected. That's when I started bringing grow lights home to help keep all my plants happy. I also got really into using them as part of the design of our apartments, as my go to grow light companies, Soltech Solutions and Modern Sprout make gorgeous lights that actually enhance your homes aesthetic instead of making you look like you are up to something questionable. This is the second episode we’ve done on grow lights. The first one was Episode 12 with Chris Satch. I wanted to do another one because this science of grow lights, and photosynthesis can be tricky and it’s nice to hear it explained by various people. That’s why we have several episodes on succulents, and other topics. So listen to today’s episode, listen to it again, listen to episode 12, just keep listening and absorbing and learning. In this episode we learn: What Leslie’s personal grow light set up is What photosynthesis is Why light is important for plants What the different colors of light do for plants and why “full spectrum” grow lights are so important Lumens vs PAR vs Kelvin = how to measure light What the best choice of grow lights for indoor houseplants are Defining “bright indirect” for a grow light Patreon Plant Friend and listener Questions ! So thrilled to be joined again by Leslie Halleck after the wildly successful two part episode on Understanding Natural Light (Episodes 46 and 47) last season. After the success of her recent book, Gardening Under Lights, Leslie published a new book this month on propagation called Plant Parenting. Today Leslie joins me to discuss not the techniques for propagation, by how plants actually multiply. Today’s episode is meant to help us zoom out and understand the overarching reasons for why the propagation projects we know and love are so successful. Leslie Battle is an advocate for women in sport, specifically Athena triathletes - women triathlon competitors who weigh no less than 165 pounds. Why? Because she is one of them. A decade ago, Leslie tipped the scale at somewhere near 300 pounds. A few events occurred that triggered her to change her life. Because she doesn’t do things partway, she decided to sign up for a half marathon with a week of training – her goal was to make the 3.5 hour cutoff. She went 3:28 and this little thing called momentum had begun. Today Leslie is one of the most accomplished Athena triathletes ever. Not only does she own seven Athena age group or overall national titles, she has been the overall female winner of many races including the East Bay 5k where she even beat all the men to win it outright! I will tell you right now that I have never won a race outright! Leslie is intense, passionate and committed to helping other women find the strength, courage and confidence she has discovered through sport. By day, Leslie has been a corporate attorney since 1995. Type-A all the way, Leslie figured out how to change her life's trajectory, race at the top level of amateurism and attract big time sponsors, all while maintaining her high-powered legal career. She is truly a champion of women who seek support while making their own changes. Leslie is the epitome of authentic. She celebrates her successes and doesn't hide her failures. This magic combination makes her an inspirational yet approachable heroine for so many others.
