Learn Portuguese with teacher Rafael and his student Ava. Each lesson is like going for a coffee with your friend who happens to speak Portuguese and is helping you learn in a relaxed, enjoyable way. Coffee Break Portuguese does not focus on European or Brazilian Portuguese specifically: instead you'll be learning to use Portuguese in a way you'll be understood throughout the Portuguese-speaking world. Rafael, our main teacher, is from Brazil, but you'll also get to know Catarina from Portugal in our episodes. Coffee Break Portuguese is not a simple series of "listen and repeat" audio programmes: in each lesson Rafael explains how the language works, helping Ava - and you - to manipulate the language and use it in practical situations. As a learner Ava asks questions, and makes mistakes, so through Rafael's explanations, corrections and pronunciation tips you'll build your confidence and begin to understand and speak the language. You'll also build your cultural knowledge with the help of our cultural correspondent Catarina who shares information on cultural and linguistic points from around the Portuguese-speaking world. In the same time it takes you to sit down and enjoy a coffee in your favourite coffee shop, you can make progress with your Portuguese. Our 20 minute lessons are perfect to keep you focused and let you develop your confidence in regular sessions. The Coffee Break Portuguese podcast has been an absolute dream come true for me in my quest to learn Portuguese. As someone who has been searching for the perfect course, I can confidently say that this podcast ticks all the boxes. The delivery of each lesson is exceptional, with the hosts providing a clear and concise context for every topic covered. This allows me to not only understand the language itself but also the cultural nuances that come with it. The length of each episode is just right, making it easy to fit into my daily routine without feeling overwhelmed or rushed. Overall, I am incredibly grateful for this podcast and the opportunity it has given me to finally achieve fluency in Portuguese.

One of the best aspects of The Coffee Break Portuguese podcast is its attention to detail when it comes to pronunciation. As a beginner with zero knowledge of the language, having clear and accurate pronunciations provided by the hosts is invaluable. It allows me to develop proper pronunciation habits from the start, which will undoubtedly benefit me as I progress on my language learning journey. Additionally, I appreciate how each episode is structured around a specific theme or topic, allowing for a focused and immersive learning experience.

While there are many positives about this podcast, it's important to mention some areas where improvements could be made. Firstly, there may be room for more interactive exercises or activities within each episode. While the explanations and examples given by the hosts are excellent, incorporating more opportunities for listeners to actively practice what they're learning would enhance the overall learning experience. Secondly, although the pace of each episode is generally slow enough for beginners like myself to follow along, there are moments where certain phrases or sentences are spoken too quickly, making it challenging at times to fully grasp their meaning.

In conclusion, The Coffee Break Portuguese podcast is an outstanding resource for anyone looking to learn Portuguese from scratch. Its well-structured lessons provide a comprehensive understanding of both language and culture while offering clear pronunciations and explanations. While there are areas for improvement, such as incorporating more interactive exercises and ensuring consistent pacing throughout each episode, the podcast is undeniably a gem in the world of language learning. I am excited to continue listening and expanding my Portuguese skills with The Coffee Break Portuguese podcast.
