When does an entrepreneur make time? How can an entrepreneur work 27 hours a day? How hard (or easy) is work-life balance? On this week's episode, Shawn & George interview Tiffanie Kellog who today (if you're listening on the day of release) releases her FOURTH self-published book, The Entrepreneur's Guide to More Free Time.  Tiffanie is the Sock-it-to-'em Success Strategist!  Since 2005, Tiffanie has been revolutionizing entrepreneurs' paths, unlocking greater wealth, freedom, and joy! As the creator of “eTiffanies” — epiphanies inspired by Tiffanie — she is known for her signature socks (over 400 pairs!), a charming southern accent, and her unique ability to inspire and empower others. Whether delivering dynamic keynote presentations, training locally and globally (often virtually), writing her next book, or leading her More Abundant Entrepreneurs community, Tiffanie loves helping people create the life they desire. With a passion for blending fun and strategy, Tiffanie helps her clients focus on achieving their goals while loving the journey. Her secret to success? Loving what she does so much that no one can tell if she's working or playing! Are you ready to sock it to your challenges, make more money, save time, and have fun? This is Tiffanie's seventh appearance on the podcast: Episode 381 (Talking about the no spend challenge) Episode 332 (Making time to crush your debt) Episode 242 (More money through masterminds) Episode 146 (13 months a year) Episode 76 (Referrals for Life) Episode 48 (Knock your socks off Speaking) Now Tiffanie is working on time management, or priority management, and how you can avoid BSO (Bright Shiney Objects) in your day.  And rather than Work/Life balance, we focus on Harmony or being "Off Balance On Purpose." You can get your copy of Tiffanie's new book or her previous three books at www.TiffanieKellog.com. The Industrial Revolution Was Supposed to Lead to Unlimited Free Time But Only Gave Us Smartphones and Endless Dopamine

History Unplugged Podcast

Free time, one of life’s most important commodities, often feels unfulfilling. But why? And how did leisure activities transition from strolling in the park for hours to “doomscrolling” on social media for thirty minutes? Despite the promise of modern industrialization, many people experience both a scarcity of free time and a disappointment in it. Here to explain why this is today’s guest Gary Cross, author of “Free Time: The History of an Elusive Ideal.” We discuss a broad historical explanation of why our affluent society does not afford more time away from work and why that time is often unsatisfying. We begin with a survey of the past 250 years to understand the roots of our conception of free time and its use. By the end of the nineteenth century, a common expectation was that industrial innovations would lead to a progressive reduction of work time and a subsequent rise in free time devoted to self-development and social engagement. However, despite significant changes in the early twentieth century, both goals were frustrated, thus leading to the contemporary dilemma. Cross touches on leisure of all kinds, from peasant festivals and aristocratic pleasure gardens to amusement parks, movie theaters and organized sports to internet surfing, and even the use of alcohol and drugs. This wide-ranging cultural and social history explores the industrial-era origins of our modern obsession with work and productivity, but also the historical efforts to liberate time from work and cultivate free time for culture.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Harvard Business School professor Leslie Perlow has studied busy executives who do - or do not - find joy and explains the main ways that we can all make the most limited free time, including avoiding passive pursuits and diversifying our activities. We live in a world obsessed with what's new. The latest tech, the next headline, tomorrow's market forecast. But beneath all that noise, some things stay the same. And maybe—just maybe—that's where the real wisdom lies. Born out of a moment of reflection after a volatile April in the financial markets, I found myself returning to Morgan Housel's work, especially his book Same as Ever. It reminded me that the most important lessons aren't about predicting the next move—they're about understanding the truths that don't change. In this episode, I highlight five timeless ideas that I believe are always worth remembering: the constancy of human emotion, the quiet power of compounding, the weight of expectations on our happiness, the surprise of risk, and the challenge of holding two competing ideas—like optimism and pessimism—in balance. These aren't hot takes. They're not meant to be. They're principles that have held up over decades and likely will hold up for decades more. So, if you've been feeling overwhelmed by all that's shifting, I invite you to slow down with me—and focus on what never changes. Get the Paralegal Boot Camp's FREE strategic guidebook here: https://paralegal-bootcamp.com/strategies/  In this episode, Ann dives into the critical topic of why paralegals should stop working for free and highlights ways to ensure their talents are valued appropriately. Kicking off with an introduction to the pressing issue of unpaid labor, Ann points out that while gaining visibility in the legal field is essential, professionals must avoid giving away their expertise without compensation to for-profit companies. Key Takeaways: Paralegals should not provide their expertise to for-profit companies without proper compensation. Paid internships offer valuable experience and reflect a fair exchange for the work interns contribute. Working off the clock could inaccurately reflect the time needed for tasks, possibly affecting the organization and colleagues negatively. Choosing where to volunteer your time should align with the direct professional benefits, such as supporting nonprofit organizations. Continuous professional development should be pursued with organizations or causes truly beneficial to one's career path Get more free paralegal resources:  https://paralegal-bootcamp.com/paralegal-resources
