An exploration into Magic the Gathering and related fun.
E.S.: The critics agree! "It sure was an mp3 file...!" Rest assured the pig in the thumbnail is lonely! ... It's a *very lonely* pig...! Its vacant stare hides the loneliness... where was I...? *Right*. Magic... It's fun to learn things... on a journey... a learning journey... a learney...? I've been here for months, *weeks* even...! I miss orange juice...!
E.S.: A content snacc pack this week. Ikoria sounds rad and looks rad! The long-absent mailbag makes an appearance, and M:tG S.R.S. returns! E.S.: As the internet citizens say: "It me". Just me. I cover the last - for an indefinite period - FNM draft at the FLGS. This un's a Mystery Booster draft. It's "Oops All Reprints"(tm) and I am *100%* here for it. The background noise you hear is my furnace.
E.S.: Stay safe, wherever you are. I give my usual draft deck report and Jay talks about harsh beats playing against mono-black devotion on M:tGA. Roy makes a *bold* commitment to playing Mono-Cash Money, then we briefly discuss alien literacy and wonder out loud what the most "Magic" band is, *thinking emoji*. Also, audio editing *is* a thing. New background get!
E.S.: In which we break *an oath unmade* and reveal that there are other card games. Roy *may* or *may not* have a sound board. I theorize about a device to detect the flow of *theme park rumors*. Why are there *so very many* Wars in the Stars...? We ramble about card games! You decide! Collected Sorceries!
E.S.: Not as long of an episode - we were short on playables, so to speak. We talk about Jumpstart: the format, (not to be confused with the mechanic).
E.S.: In which we discuss Latin plurals, the M:tG MOBA, and by extension Jay's revelation that he doesn't understand kids these days. Featuring a guest appearance by: a deck-tech on Blue/White mill.
E.S: In which we cover our first post-pre-Release draft of Theros. We discuss mana dorks: the ever present utility critters of past and present Magic sets- and *sandwiches* for some reason... It's a *Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm, Tasty* episode! (Not sponsored).
E.S.: In which we discuss our initial impressions of Theros Beyond Death (Sagas are back!). We also wend our way into some sort of decadent "Disney-after hours" scenario.
E.S.: "Greek's back on the menu boys!"...!... see, cause it's like from Lord of the Rings ... When the... orcs... Anyhoo, do you like Satyrs? Vengeful gods?? Stupidly large dorks in blue?! Underworld hjinks?!! It's all here and *more*!
E.S.: We discuss a number of evergreen archetypes with such colorful names as "Aristocrats", "Eggs", and "Flying Men", as well as the old standby tribal options of Goblins, Elves, Merfolk, and some more esoteric creature types we sometimes wish were more "viable"...
E.S.: Narrator voice: "The election had in fact *already* happened." In this episode, packs get cracked and media gets shared. We talk about which Magic sets pair well with which books, music and other creative works. We posit the idea that in 1492, a very different Christopher Columbus wrote the screenplay for Home Alone.
E.S.: Like the thumbnail says, we *Gather* (Ha HA...!) to grumble about the controversial Secret Lairs as well as other ways in which Wizards shows their *abiding affection* for paper faces...! Also, I can't remember Stanus's name.
E.S.: Shots fired! We discuss the various formats of our (more-often-than-not) beloved game. Our third host joins us to elaborate on said formats and why you (Yes, You!) would play one over another.
E.S.: Happy seasonal food day! A far more in-depth than usual draft deck breakdown. Also, If "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" was an anime, I am convinced the short name would be "Do-Be-Me-So-Cen Juice!"
E.S.: The boys never *left*, they had to protect the Throne Of Eldraine... and maybe pop a sick manual or ten. They were known as: The Boyz of the Realm...! Oh man! This is sounding cooler and cooler.
E.S.: "Mirrodin! Where the (razor) wind comes sweeping down the (steel) plains...!"
E.S.: Another round of fan-casting, as well as a handy - and *very* useful thank you very much - travel guide to the various planes in Magic: the Gathering.
E.S.: Fancasting M:tG animated on Netflix, The Sandlot, and "Vincent Price and drop the mic!".
E.S.: We discuss our weaboo tendencies, the allure of the *inhales* alt-art Japanese War of the Spark Planeswalker cards, and the successes and failures of video game screenplays.
E.S.: "It's called Looting!". Eeesh...! We're *good* at this...! The debut of the "Magic Spitting Relevant Shit" segment.
R.K.: "He's Thurl Damn Ravenscroft"
R.K.: Do you love Rambling? Of course you do.
R.K.: Look at all the Avengers and the Magic: The Gathering and the Avengers in the Magic: The Gathering and the Netflix and the Kanye and the Fortnite and the Youtube.
R.K.: This week we continue to fill the world in on all the things it needs to know about Magic The Gathering and a series of largely un-related topics. Among the things we discuss are color preference (spoiler alert:we love the whole rainbow cause we ain't prejudice), The Muppet Aggro Deck, some cards that may provide fun even if they don't provide wins, and a veritable cornucopia of tangentially related free associations. Experiential satisfaction abounds! Get in there.
R.K: In episode 5 we sail on a choppy sea of inconsistent focus and coherency as we are constantly derailed and interrupted throughout the episode, but we persist and we return. For nothing will stop us from bringing entertainment to the people. Do you hear me? Nothing.
Ethan: I'm posting this *explicitly* to show the (hopefully) upward progression in quality over time. I have always been hesitant to erase anything creative, the idea being it will prove educational in retrospect. Gratuitous navel-gazing phase complete; initiate audio phase...
