Send us Fan MailSeason 17 of TGTPTU calls a wrap on its third of four directors in its 4x4 this week with Ron Howard's THE DA VINCI CODE (2006).   Starring Tom Hanks, father of musician and male model Chet Hanks but also known for leading roles in such earlier Howard films not covered on this podcast as Splash (1984) and Apollo 13 (1995), with a grotesque haircut as supersleuth symbiologist Robert Langdon from Dan Brown's 2003 best-selling page-turner of the same name, the movie is a bunch of nonsense that got some Catholics upset for suggesting Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the disputed son of a disputed desert deity, had children, likely through consensual intercourse unlike the legend of his siring. Howard's The Da Vinci Code also has great French actors used poorly in this flick mostly set in France and at least one Jellicle cat, one Sony Spiderman villain, and one Avenger (MCU, not BBC) actor of British lineage to help out the American Langdon in his quest for an ultimate truth that could rock the world to its core assuming it's not flat (see Revelation 7:1 and Isaiah 11:12, ya heathens).   Holy host Ryan goes above and beyond in his research for this ep; the son Jack passes the season's assignment; the father Ken is unimpressed by the chase scenes; and Doubting Thomas in real time processes that the female lead is the same actress as the titular Amélie (2001).  If you like anagrams and unstimulating action sequences, this might be the movie for you.    Skcus eivom siht.   P.S. Rams Go All-In With Miles Garrett The Los Angeles Rams just reset the NFL conversation. They added Miles Garrett, called the best football player on the planet regardless of position. He is 30. He even set an NFL record last season. It is a thunderclap move that signals urgency right now. Detroit Lions fans feel that jolt. They want the same message. Push for the trophy today. The Lions have not thrown caution aside. They have also not stood still. The context matters. Splash does not always equal rings. How It Frames the Detroit Lions The comparison that landed hardest came from basketball. The Lakers once stacked Karl Malone and Gary Payton onto a roster with Shaq and Kobe. Police in Springs have confiscated two Nile crocodiles that were allegedly being kept illegally at a residential property for more than two years. The reptiles, measuring 1.48 metres and 1.7 metres long, were discovered during a raid on Monday led by the Tshwane K9 Unit, Gauteng Department of Environment, the Vereeniging Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit, the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital and the Springs SPCA. Authorities say they received information that crocodiles and tortoises were being kept on the property without the required permits. Armed with a search warrant from the Springs Magistrate’s Court, officers arrived at the home around 10am, where the owner was reportedly not present. A company manager allegedly allowed police onto the property. Inside the yard, officials found the crocodiles confined in a black steel enclosure measuring roughly 5.6 metres by 1.8 metres, with only a small blue splash pool inside. No tortoises were found during the search. The crocodiles were removed and transported to the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital for medical checks and further care. Police have since opened a criminal case for the alleged contravention of the National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act, which regulates the keeping of protected or threatened wildlife species without permits. I took him to the University of Florida for life-saving open heart surgery and boy, did they! Eight hours on the table, eight hours of SICU, all for an eight pound dog and now - he's not even on any medications! It's a long story and I would insist it's worth hearing it.
