Our discussion will include ideas for keeping your center fresh and energized, new retailer prototypes and the future pathway for design in accommodating the new age consumer, their demands and evolving shopping patterns. Our guest today is Deighton Babis with BDG Architects. Deighton currently serves as Vice President, consulting shopping center owners, developers, private investors as well as public and private shopping center REITs on repositioning, redeveloping, and design of their shopping center assets. Deighton began his career in architecture over 31 years ago. He attended undergrad at the University of Florida, receiving a Bachelor of Design in architecture followed by a master’s in architecture from the University of Colorado Denver. Deighton currently resides in Tampa, FL, is very active with ICSC and has worked on countless retail shopping center projects throughout the State of Florida.

We’re going to discuss how technology has changed the appraisal process and tips for underwriting new acquisitions. Our guest today is Rob Turner with Assessment Services. Rob currently serves as managing member of the firm, consulting private owners, developers and investors on property taxes within their real estate portfolio. Rob formerly served as the Property Appraiser of Hillsborough County from 1997 to 2013 and has a wealth of knowledge and experience pertaining to this topic.

Our guest today is Marc Elias with Regency Centers. Marc currently serves in a Senior Leasing role for Regency. He is responsible for their West and Central Florida shopping center portfolio encompassing over 29 properties. Regency Centers is a real estate investment trust based in Jacksonville, FL and is one of the largest operators of shopping center assets, currently owning 422 properties comprising over 57 million square feet of space. The company owns neighborhood and community shopping centers, primarily grocery anchored product, throughout the country.

Alex currently serves as the Real Estate Investment and Acquisitions Analyst for Forge Capital Partners. He is responsible for analyzing and underwriting real estate investments on behalf of the firm and all affiliated Funds.

Barry comes with over 25 years of commercial real estate experience, graduating from the University of Georgia’s School of Law. He worked in private practice as a real estate attorney assisting developers of grocery-anchored shopping centers, later to join Aaron’s Furniture as an In-House counsel overseeing the legal department for real estate, then joined Marcus & Millichap in 2001 as Senior Managing Director of Investments. Barry is an active member of ICSC, very involved in the real estate community, and currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Our guest today is Larry Silvestri with Silvestri Law. Larry is a long time industry veteran and has been in the commercial real estate business for over 33 years. He has held positions as Assistant General Counsel for Highland Superstores, which was at one point the 2nd largest American electronics retailer behind Circuit City. He was General Counsel and Vice President of the Zaremba Group, a developer out of Ohio, where he focused on ground-up development projects and the management of their shopping center portfolio. He later joined The Goodman Company out of West Palm Beach as General Counsel. The Goodman Company is one of the most respected and knowledgeable private shopping center developers in the eastern part of the United States. Larry currently resides in St Petersburg, FL and is Managing Shareholder of Silvestri Law, PA.
