Shalom and welcome to all believers in Yeshua our Messiah (Jesus Christ). This is FaithWorks, with your host, Denise Baxley, digging deep into the Word of God, sharing notes from recent sermons. This podcast is brought to you by Thy Way Ministries, a Messianic house church (housechurch) located in P…
In relation to the things of God, of the kingdom of heaven; there has to be a definitive line drawn. If you are on the side of the kingdom, you're part of my family, but if you're on the side of the world you're like a stranger....even if you're my mother or brother or sister. That's the way it has to be if you choose to be His disciple. If your family is not concerned with the things of the kingdom, it might not be their conscious intention to pull you back into the world, but make no mistake, that's what they'll do. We'll discuss this and much more on this classic episode of FaithWorks!click here to listen
Love suffers long! Dwell on that for awhile the next tie someone cuts you off in traffic or says some harsh words to you or happens to do something that hurts you either physically or emotionally. For the most part we wouldn't even consider those people our enemies, maybe not friends but not enemies. So, if Yeshua expects us to love, suffer long, not think of ourselves, not take an account against, bear, hope, and endure all things with regard to our enemies, wouldn't He expect the same from us in regards to those who are not our enemies? We'll discuss this and much more as we dig deeper into God's word on this classic episode of FaithWorks!click here to listen
Paul tells us to be diligent in our study to show ourselves approved to God. He says we are to be workmen who rightly divide the word of truth. That tells us so much! Listen to how dictionary.com defines the word diligent - constant in effort to accomplish something; attentive and persistent in doing anything. We have to be constant in our effort to study; attentive, persistent. He tells us that we must 'rightly' divide the word of truth. This tells us that it is possible to 'wrongly' divide the word. We'll discuss this and much more in this classic episode of FaithWorks!click here to listen
In the contrast between Mary and Martha, Yeshua does not commend the sister that is working so hard to try to serve the Master. He commends the sister that has seemingly cast off her responsibility to do what many would see as being lazy, yet she had her priorities straight. She did not let the worries of the day become thorns in her soil. She focused on gaining understanding and Jesus said that it was the one thing that was necessary and that she had chosen wisely. Have you chosen wisely? What have you given up to sit at His feet? We'll discuss these things and more on this classic episode of FaithWorks!
A light to the Gentiles! They are the cultivated tree that we must be grafted into once the blood is applied. Paul tells us that we come from a wild olive tree from which we were broken off when we believed and then were grafted into the cultivated tree. Do you think Yahweh grafted us into the cultivated tree to make the cultivated tree wild, or so that the cultivated tree would make us cultivated. We'll discuss this and much more on this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
John the Baptist came to prepare the way of the Lord with a message of repentance. Yeshua came to call sinner to repentance. Exactly what does that mean? What is required to repent? We;l discuss this and much more as we revisit this classic episode of FaithWorks!click here to listen
Oops! I uploaded an incomplete file so here is the real podcast. I should be making some updated podcasts within the next month or so. Be blessed!Click here to listen
Jesus made it clear that the storms of life would come to those who follow the one true God and also to those who do not. What would be different would be how they would handle it? Ruth evidently saw that in how Naomi had come through the great tragedy. Sure she had cried but there was something else there that made Ruth want to cling to it, to her, to her God! This will be discussed as we revisit this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
Okay, first let me apologize for the several weeks that have gone by without an update. Things have been extremely busy here. We will have actually decided to begin producing new episodes very soon so watch for those. In this classic episode we will be looking at Balaam who tries over and over to get God to submit to his will. How many times do we do that? Hear God tell us to do something and do everything in our power not to do it. Pray for Him to do this or that in our lives without ever asking Him if that is His will. Isn't that what most people think prayer is? Giving God a laundry list of things for Him to do as if He is a genie in a bottle or something. We'll be discussing this and much more on this episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
Recently we've talked about the importance of seeking after God with our whole hearts by putting the things of God in the first position as far as priority. Now, we'll focus on what to do once we've committed to do that. You've put the things of God in the first spot, now what? Which direction should you go? What should you follow after? We'll discuss these questions and much more as we revisit this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
How can a young man cleanse his way? This is so crucial because it starts with the premise that his way needs to be cleansed. If you do a survey of the average guy on the streets, and ask them if they are a good person, the majority would say yes they are. But that's not what the word of God says. Jeremiah 17:9, the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who can know it? This is the FIRST thing we must recognize when we come to faith...that in our flesh, we are indeed wicked. We'll discuss this and much more on this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
We are able to proclaim peace, to bring good tidings, to preach salvation, but if no one believes our report, then what? Why wouldn't they believe such wonderful news? Could it be because many believers have no idea why they believe what they believe? Many don't even have a clue what they believe. We'll discuss this and many other things as we dig deep into God's word on this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
I apologize for the delay in posting a podcast. We've just completed our move from South Florida to South Carolina. It is important for us to recognize that we who have been born again are now a part of God's family. Just as Jacob adopted Ephraim and Manasseh and gave them the same standing as his eldest sons, Reuben and Simeon, so our Father in heaven has adopted us into His family and given us the same standing as His only begotten Son, Yeshua our Savior. It's hard to believe but it's true! We'll be discussing the family of Jacob (Israel) and the family of God as we dig deeper into God's word on this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen.
Hunger is a motivator. I believe everyone is hungry and they just don't know what they're hungry for. I can remember being hungry. Hungry for friendship, hungry for relationships. I can remember teaching myself to smoke so I would fit in with the 'cool crowd'. I can remember taking my first hits of marijuana and cocaine for the same reason. But guess what? After I got what I thought I was hungry for...I was still hungry. Some people are hungry for money or for cars or for sex or for power, but just like me when they get it they're still hungry. Always hungry! We'll be discussing the effects of this hunger and much more on this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
Too many people are like Eve, clueless as to what the word of God says. With an aggressive reading plan, reading four or five pages a day, you can read through the Bible in one year. With a more relaxed plan, reading two or three pages a day, you can read it through in just two years. And with even a basic reading plan, reading just one page a day, you can read through in three years. So that should mean that everyone who's been saved for more than three years has completely read the Bible, right? We'll discuss these things and much more as we revisit this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
This is the day the LORD has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Every day that you wake up you have the choice as to whether you will be glad or not. Have you made the choice to rejoice? Nehemiah told the people that the joy of the LORD is our strength. That's important to remember especially when the enemy is pushing your buttons. Sometimes we will have each other to encourage us but there are times when you will just have to encourage yourself! We'll discuss this issue and much more as we revisit this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
We take a look at the children of Israel as they are about to be led into the Promised Land. They had come out of Egypt but because of their unbelief it had taken 40 years of wandering in the desert. But why did they have to spend 40 years wandering in the wilderness. Of those over 20 years old only two, Joshua and Caleb, actually made it in. Why did all but two die in the wilderness? Not even Moses made it in. Why? We'll discuss these questions and come up with some possible answers as we revisit this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
Any good soldier needs to learn the tactics of the enemy. It's very important to understand your enemy so you can know how to counteract those tactics. That works for us as spiritual warriors too. Many times I think believers spend too much time considering politics and not enough time considering God; too much time in picket lines and not enough on our faces before our Lord. We can all take an example from Daniel who could have easily had an audience with an earthly king but chose rather to seek our heavenly King. Join us as we revisit this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
Would you cause your child to stub their toe or burn their hand to teach them something? Or is it that when your child goes through these things because of their own actions or the actions of others, you're their to comfort them and maybe teach them something because of it? Like maybe, wear your shoes when you're running outside or don't touch the stove. If you being evil in comparison to God would never give your child a disease that might kill them or cause them to get in a car accident to maim them, why would you think our heavenly Father who is perfectly good would do something like that? Join us as we revisit this issue on this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
The Lord's Prayer gives us a model of how we should pray. Well, Paul's letter to the Ephesians gives us an excellent example of what we should pray for, especially as new believers. Not only can we pray for these things for ourselves but as Paul did, we can pray for these things for those whom we have discipled. Join us as we dig deeper into the Word of God to find out how we can have the eyes of our understanding opened, on this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
Okay, okay, I'm calling for a do-over! That's right, last week's episode was cut short. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to locate the backup file so I decided to re-record it. I apologize to all of you who listened intently for six minutes only for it to cut off mid-sentence. Hope you enjoy listening to the whole thing.Click here to listen
Did you know that 90% of Christian conversions fall away, backslide, and go back to their former lifestyle? They were not aware of the cost to be a disciple of Yeshua . . . but why not? Unfortunately, those who with all good intentions are leading them to Messiah aren't bothering to tell them. We'll be discussing the cost of discipleship and much more on this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
Yeshua often spoke of the kingdom of heaven and what it is like. So what is kingdom thinking? We'll dig deep into that concept as we revisit this classic episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen
God tells Abram something to do and makes some lofty promises. He promised to make his name great, to make him a blessing even to every family on earth! But there was one promise that stood out more than all the rest...the promise to make of him a great nation. That's a pretty bold promise to make to a 75 year old man with no children. What's even more amazing is that Abram believed Him! God does that; makes bold, even unbelievable promises to His people. We'll dig deep into our first step in the equation...to BELIEVE, in this repeat of a 2006 episode of FaithWorks!Click here to listen!
