As Wendy and I have rediscovered the joy of truly dwelling at home, it provided a really powerful metaphor in the quiet this morning for what Paul is getting at as he uses this particular phrase. A chapter-a-day podcast from Colossians 3. The text version may always be found and shared at tomvanderwell.com.
The kingdom of Heaven will not be like the earthly tabernacle where the presence of God came and went; instead it will be a place where God and men are together forever.
"When I think about praying 'your kingdom come,' for me, it's an entire perspective shift. It's like setting yourself up on an entirely different path, because everything (as a human) is about our desires, our prerogative, our checklist, our plans, our strategies—our little kingdom. But when I pray 'your kingdom come,' I'm setting aside those things, I'm submitting it all to God's kingdom. I'm saying, 'No, your kingdom come, today.'"— Vera SchmitzToday's Episode: What does it look like to really live for God's kingdom and in step with his will? Today, Dwell Differently co-founders and sisters Natalie and Vera are talking about just that. They discuss both the desire and the difficulty of walking in God's will. An Inspiring 31-Day Devotional In The Secret of a Happy Day, J. Wilbur Chapman offers a heartfelt exploration of the timeless comfort found in Psalm 23. This 31-day devotional illuminates the profound truths and enduring promises within David's ancient song, revealing its relevance and power to uplift souls regardless of life's circumstances. Chapman, with the wisdom of a seasoned pastor, invites readers on a daily journey through "The Shepherd's Song," to a place where every need is met, fear is dispelled, and eternal goodness and mercy are assured. Through an intimate introduction and thoughtful breakdown, Chapman delves into the six divisions of the psalm — Possession, Position, Promise, Progress, Provision, and Prospects — each representing a facet of the Christian's walk with the Good Shepherd. Readers are encouraged to reflect on the Lord's shepherding presence that guides through green pastures, restores the soul, and offers comfort even in the darkest valleys. The readings of The Secret of a Happy Day are an invitation to experience the deep and personal love of God anew. As you journey through each day with Chapman, let the truths of Psalm 23 transform your understanding of God's presence in your life and lead you into a deeper, more joyous relationship with Him. Whether standing beside the grave of buried hopes or basking in the sunshine of God's love, this book promises to be a source of comfort, strength, and inspiration, helping you to live out the serene trust and unshakeable peace that David himself experienced. About the Author J. Wilbur Chapman (1859-1918) was an American evangelist, pastor, and author known for his dynamic preaching style and evangelistic campaigns. He began his pastoral ministry in 1882, serving in several churches before becoming the pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia in 1890. Chapman's ministry gained widespread attention for his emphasis on personal salvation and the power of prayer. He resigned from his pastoral position in 1903 to devote himself full-time to evangelistic work, teaming up with gospel singer Charles Alexander to conduct successful campaigns across the United States and abroad. Chapman's legacy lives on through his writing and the numerous pastors and evangelists he influenced.

Ever feel like your home is battling Instagram's "after" photos? I certainly do! My chat with Courtney Florey of Declutter and Dwell tackled this, as she believes these unrealistic standards can hinder progress by fostering comparison and pressure for perfection. We agreed homes are meant to be lived in, not just admired, and it's normal if yours isn't magazine-ready. This pressure can deter us from even starting, fearing too much time, money, or effort, or leading to burnout. Her practical advice includes aligning your home with your life's priorities and starting with small, easy areas to build confidence and momentum. A returning guest on the podcast, Ziyad “Zizo” Almaayouf is Saudi Arabia's first professional boxer undefeated, unapologetically proud, and a GQ Middle East cover star representing a bold new generation. Born in New York City on July 2, 2000, Zizo took up boxing at age 11 and overcame early challenges due to limited training resources. On August 20, 2022, Zizo made history with a first-round knockout in his professional debut becoming the first Saudi to win a pro boxing match. Now 8–0, he's more than a rising star; he's a symbol of Saudi excellence, blending world-class athleticism with the ambition of Vision 2030. Guided by elite mentorship and backed by the Kingdom's leadership and growing investment in sports, Zizo steps into the ring not just to win, but to inspire. Poet, author, musician and Yorkshireman, Simon Armitage has been Britain's Poet Laureate since 2019 — so we're thrilled that he joined James Fisher on the latest edition of the Country Life Podcast. From the surprising details of what he does — or, more accurately, doesn't — have to do as part of his role, to the primary school teacher who didn't even put his Christmas poem in his class's top six, Simon shares tales of his life, his work and his inspiration.• Listen to Country Life podcast on Apple Podcasts• Listen to Country Life podcast on Spotify• Listen to Country Life podcast on AudibleNature has always been a big part of the latter, and never more so than with his latest collection of poems, Dwell. The book was inspired by the time he has spent at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall — a place where he'll be back on June 21st for the Heligan Homecoming Festival, which runs June 13-22 and features guests including Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Dawn French.Simon also talks about how the world — and the world of art in particular — is being changed by technology... even if what AI can create so far has been limited to verse that is, in his phrase, 'reassuringly awful'.That said, Simon also worries that 'it will only get better', something which could actually change how art is made.'I wonder if it might throw art back on some of its high-end, traditional values that are quite difficult to imitate and replicate,' he adds.'The art that will really be in trouble is sort of avant-gardism and experimentation which — dare I say it? Are you living in the past? Do your thoughts continually return to things done and said? Maybe things you did and said yesterday? Maybe 10 years ago? Things that were done to you. Things that should have been handled differently. Can I remind you of something so beautiful? God is the God of the future. We're reminded over and over again of this in the Bible. He's told us to forget the former things, don't dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Because of the work of Jesus on the cross, God wants to do a new work in you: new life, new hope, a new future. Turn away from your broken past and turn your heart to Jesus. Always remember, there is hope with God. This is Wendy Palau. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 radio.hopewithgod.com

Today's conversation on Back Porch Theology is an encore with Natalie Grant and Bernie Herms because we simply could fit all the wisdom bombs they dropped regarding hanging onto hope when the miracle you prayed for seems delayed into one episode! Plus, since we've had lots of DM's and e-mails from y'all requesting content on how to have more Jesus-shaped relationships, we thought it'd be a good idea to ask Nat and Bernie a few questions about what they've learned from 20+ years of marriage, especially given the added stress of extensive travel, public scrutiny, and infertility. During today's conversation on Back Porch Theology, I have the absolute delight of diving deep into some real-life stuff with two dear friends, Natalie Grant, and her husband, Bernie Herms. Unless you're living off the grid and are listening to BPT through a coconut and dental floss, you've no doubt heard Natalie's stellar voice because she's been a recording artist for over twenty years and has more awards – including multiple female artist of the year awards – than you could fit in the back of a truck. And Bernie's success as a music producer is every bit as extraordinary as Nat's; he's also been honored with a plethora of accolades, including several Grammys. If you feel like you're running low on hope this season because the miracle you've been trusting God for hasn't happened yet, Nat and Bernie's story is going to provide both empathy and encouragement and will help reframe our perspectives regarding God's sovereignty and our expectancy.
