Friends Church - Pastors Eric Gettinger, Dave Chesser, Floyd Conger
The peace of our King and Savior Jesus. His plan for all of us is His Shalom; His well-being and peace. The God of the day, the year, the life we have been given offers us His peace. The death-less shepherd, our helper in fear, Jesus, has overcome death and triumphed.
John Newton, an ex-slaver, wrote the song Amazing Grace, looking over his journals, from a place of awe in the mercies of Yahweh on his life. Pastor Eric calls for thanksgiving and an understanding of our God's mercies every morning, every year. Of all peoples, we, the children of Yahweh, should have our souls set on thanksgiving.
Born of a woman, the "Son of Man". The divine Son of God, He has taken the true humanity, for the Joy set before him, to redeem us to Himself. That which He has not assumed, He has not healed, but praise be to God that He has assumed it all.
The Joy of Christmas is the tangible reality of fundamental change through Jesus, our savior. The joy of Christmas is the joy of the celebration of the reign of our God.
Arise in peace. Arise in faith in Christ, through whom all is made whole and reconciled to Yahweh through the blood He shed on the cross.
Pastor Dave addresses the assurance and pursuit of our hope in Christ, and Christena O'Connor gives her Testimony.
We have not come to mount of death and fire, but Mt. Zion; the new heaven and the new earth with access to Yahweh through the Son by the power of the Holy Spirt.
Surrounded by this cloud of witnesses, we profess together with the saints Jesus' reign over the world as King as co-heirs and co-laborers with Christ we act with substance and evidence for our faith.
Cultural religiosity waters down the life-changing truth of our access to Yahweh. May we pray for mercy and understanding and thankfulness for our High Priest Jesus; tempted yet without sin, not unable to sympathize with our humanness, He has redeemed us to Father God from the grave to fullness in life, now and forever, with Him.
Through His blood, we are redeemed.
Eric teaches from Hebrews 8 about the movement from the old covenant to the new covenant brought by our perfect priest and Lord Jesus.
If Jesus is a high priest in the order of Melchizedek, what does that mean for us? Melchizedek was a high priest of Yahweh before the Israelites were a people.
"Your commitment to Jesus is only and deep and strong as your trust in Jesus." In each moment of our lives, Jesus is the image the creator Yahweh, and He is the word that sprouted creation and He is the king who is our help in every need.
Working through a heavily debated passage in Hebrews about salvation, pastor Eric focuses our view away from the controversy and onto the heart of the passage, which is the heart of Yahweh; that we would see His way as the way to true life and, as a loving father, He guides us and expects great things from us as we walk in His power. By no greater thing or person could Yahweh promise His provision to Abraham (which we have inherited) so he promised by Himself.
Eric talks of Jesus' "full knowledge of temptation, and his overcoming"; that Jesus, our High Priest, though without sin, knows and sees our weakness, and understands.
Pastor Eric speaks on the only seeming juxtaposition of the "work" of rest, and the importance of action as faith.
