Podcast by Josh Bell
On today's episode I'm talking with Josh Profitt. Josh is a Kentucky public land traditional bowhunter who manages to take a nice buck season after season. Like most of you Josh is only able to hunt on the weekends but manages to get it done while having a family weekend once a month. The magic to his success is that he runs about 70 trail cams with some other hunters to get the most out of the time that he's able to hunt. "Whether you think you can, or think you can't -- you're right!" - Henry Ford I've talked to many hunters over the years. I know I'm young but in my lifetime I've had a video blog for Outdoor Life Magazine and had my regional outdoors magazine. I don't consider myself an expert on this subject but oh wait... I do. This isn't some patty caked feel good about hunting podcast. This is a slap to your cerebral cortex that will hopefully make you more mentally prepared for this upcoming deer season. So what is the common that unsuccessful hunters have you ask? Well it comes in many shapes and forms oh wanderer of podcast title. Inevitably we will arrive at the one common core of the problem with an array of symptoms and or actions that point in this direction. The common thread is being negative. It's seeing a minefield before you walk up on a field of freakin daisies. Out of the gate you've lost and have created this force field that prevents big bucks crossing your path. I'm no mystical shaman or Tony Robbins but I can make you aware of this thought process if it should it creep into your cranium. I'll also give you some actionable practices you can put into your tool belt. Do you find you find yourself contemplating the authenticity of todays outdoor media? Do you find their highlight reel of farmed bucks a little out of touch with reality when compared to the average hardworking hunter? If you answered yes then you're in luck because I have Byron Horton of The Whitetail Experience crew on the show today. Byron and the guys at TWE have a web series showcasing their hunts on public land. We talk about their show and Byron shares some interesting scouting tactics to target big deer on these public land. It's may guys and the only way to get our deer hunting on is to train, shoot bows and educate ourselves on this elusive ungulate known as the whitetail deer. if youre thirsty for some deer hunting listen up becaue I have Tim Bunao of New York talking about some strategies he uses on public land to get within bow range of big bucks. in this episode Tim shares a really good tactic for getting close to these bucks in their bed by using an orange cap. I don't want to ruin the episode so click play and enjoy.
Just recently I bought a brand new Mathews Triax bow. It was not an easy purchase but through that whole process I a light bulb went off when I was getting it all set up. I was looking at this bow with all the doo dads being put on it and I asked myself "what if I get this new bow and don't see anything." I realized then that this was a piss poor way to live my life. Constantly doubting yourself and your abilities will only generate a frustrated and unsuccessful hunt. Today I'm encouraging you to make purchases such as this if it will actually help you take the deer of a life time. I give you 5 reasons why betting on yourself in a way such as this is only going to favor you not work against you.

I know you're used to hearing really complicated ways to stay in shape and I promise this isn't one of those routines. Also I go over some of the projects I've been doing outside of the podcast. I'll be launching huntzilla apparel very soon and getting ramped up for that launch has me quite busy. Anyway, enjoy this shit and stuff!
Ya know what? This season sucked and was awesome. I know that sounds contradictory as hell but it's the truth. I wounded a doe, tore a quad and failed to get a shot off on some nice bucks. At the end of the season however, I changed up my strategy and started getting the results I wanted when I tagged out on public land in my home state of Arkansas. I'll tell you what I changed up to get on these deer and my strategy moving forward with this upcoming season.

Well Guys, I am done in Arkansas! I tagged out on a gorgeous buck I named Brett Michaels (due to the horrible exposure to poison ivy I got from the tree I was in). Anyway, check out my facebook, insta and huntzillapodcast.com for photos and videos of this hunt.
Well I finally did it and this was recorded live on the Huntzilla facebook fan page which is approaching 2k members! Took a nice 10 point on public land with my bow... not a crossbow but yes an actual draw back and hold til you get the shot bow. Anyway, this story is incredible. I know I'm biased but I had this fella stopped with a grunt before I even had my release on my string. To make it worse he busted off one side of his rack after I shot him. Took me over 3hrs and some indian skill shit type stuff to find "said rack." Lots of ups and downs with a happy ending. To see the pics visit my facebook or Instagram, Search huntzilla or find a young kid to pull up the pics!
Today we are joined by Trevor and Hunter Brunk of Brunk Outdoors. They've been hunting since the age of 3 and have acquired a knack for killing big mature whitetails on public land. Well they haven't been hunting since they were 3 (that I know of)but they started hunting serious at a young age. Like seriously, Trevor claimed that his worst season he had was when he was 10. Anyway, these guys have a youtube channel and Instagram that you need to check out as well as listen to this podcast about how they kill big bucks on public land. Or don't.... Go poop or something... and be a not so good hunter. The choice is yours.

In this episode we talk about how the common mistakes most deer hunters make and some of the new knowledge we've both gained since studying deer behavior. We talk about Clints success this year and his Ohio Public Land Buck he took last year. Clint is hoping to have a better season this year in Ohio due to his scouting and trail cam strategy he's been utilizing. In the end we discuss Clint's most memorable fail as a hunter. Most of todays hunters pay little attention to fitness as it applies to hunting. The benefits of working out and a proper diet seem only as a "nice to have" asset on their tool belt. While it may not tell you where the deer are it can without a doubt help you get to that striking distance easier. In todays random rambling I got over 5 ways being fit helps you be a better hunter. Just to be clear I'm not making a stretch or exaggerating these reasons. If you or someone you know is doubting the benefits then they need to hear this. Grab a life raft because in todays episode the water is deep! I venture into a subject most people shy away from and that's whether or not hunting is too easy. As you'll find out we all hunt on a spectrum from easy to hard when it comes to whitetails. Whether it's too easy or too hard is really ones own personal opinion. However, I point out some things that could be detrimental with the hunting culture as we move into a more commercialized whitetail hunting future.
