In this episode, I welcome back Albert Chow, co-founder & CEO of Silk & Snow, to explore the company's dramatic evolution from a digital-native sleep brand to a powerhouse in physical retail. The conversation dives into Silk & Snow's ambitious expansion plans, with 14 new stores set to open across Canada by the end of the year.Albert shares the brand's journey from its 2017 launch as an online mattress-in-a-box retailer to its current position as a multi-category sleep essentials and furniture brand. The company's emphasis on high-quality, locally sourced materials and transparent manufacturing has resonated with customers, helping it differentiate from competitors. A key milestone in its growth was its partnership with Sleep Country in 2023, facilitating its entry into brick-and-mortar retail, starting with a test location in Ottawa. With the success of that initial store, Silk & Snow expanded to Edmonton and Laval and is now gearing up for a nationwide rollout. The discussion highlights the strategic thinking behind the company's retail expansion. Rather than relying solely on traditional metrics like sales per square foot, Albert sees the physical locations as key brand touchpoints that enhance customer trust and engagement. The company's stores serve as sales hubs and brand marketing tools, reinforcing Silk & Snow's premium positioning in the sleep and home goods market.Albert also delves into the challenges and opportunities presented by today's complex supply chain landscape. With increasing consumer demand for Canadian-made products and ongoing trade uncertainties, Silk & Snow has benefited from its early investment in local sourcing. While many brands are now reacting to shifting trade policies, Silk & Snow's commitment to Canadian manufacturing and partnerships with European suppliers, such as those in Portugal, have provided a competitive advantage.Albert shares his vision for Silk & Snow's future, including a potential push into the U.S. market. Drawing inspiration from Canadian retail success stories like Aritzia and Lululemon, he sees an opportunity for Silk & Snow to become a leading North American brand. With a methodical approach to expansion and a strong focus on customer experience, Silk & Snow is positioning itself for long-term success.Whether you're a retail industry professional or fascinated by the evolving world of e-commerce and brick-and-mortar integration, this episode offers valuable insights into what it takes to scale a modern brand in today's competitive retail environment. https://www.silkandsnow.com/en-ca/https://www.instagram.com/silkandsnow/https://www.linkedin.com/company/silk-snow/ Michael LeBlanc is the president and founder of M.E. Missy and Scott Tannen founded Boll & Branch, risking their life savings to create a sustainable, luxury bedding brand with full supply chain transparency. In 10 years, the company became the largest consumer of organic cotton, generating over $200M in annual revenue. The brand has gained a loyal following, including the Obamas, who outfitted Air Force One with their products. Dairy farms have long relied on sand bedding for their cows, and for good reason. Sand bedding provides crucial comfort and traction for dairy cows, especially as they move in and out of stalls. According to Renee Schrift, Global Director of Sales for Agricultural Systems at McLanahan Corporation, "Sand allows the cows to get in and out of the stall and gives them traction and cushion." The right bedding also plays a key role in keeping cows clean and dry, which is important for their health and productivity. "Sand bedding is the golden standard for cow comfort," said Schrift. "It offers excellent drainage, which helps keep the cow's udder dry and free from bacteria."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The last few days of the Iowa bow hunting season are upon us. With David being the only one tagged out, he gets to enjoy a little hiatus before late season kicks off. Easton takes back his role as "Mr. Deercember" gearing up to be trying some go big or go home strategies with in these final days! However, our boy Easton is not alone this year, as he is joined by Warren in this glorious Deercember week! On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we break down the season as a whole and some major strategies you can employ to help kill even your target buck during the later half of the season. From making some risky moves, to hunting the right food, to even being able to get your buck back on a pattern. We also take a deep dive into a study from the Mississippi State University Deer Ecology & Management Lab, on studies they have done about deer population density and buck activity during the rut. This study dives into a few theories we have discussed on the podcast, as well as ties in credible information to a lot of what we have witnessed in buck activity over the years! In this episode, Zach and bis brother Logan, and dad Doug, talk about their recent early season elk hunt. They hunted for the first 10 days of season and dealt with what a lot of hunters experience that time of year, bulls that aren't bugling. This is something that they expected going into the season so they switched up their tactics and that led to many close encounters with bulls. Topics Include: -early season elk hunting -hunting bedding areas when bulls aren't bugling -calling setups vs. calling to get a response from a bull THP MERCH: https://bit.ly/30ZC1rm - Get 10% off THP Merch w/Code ZACH OPTICS - 10% off Vortex Optics w/code THP10 - https://bit.ly/3AOdKDQ TURKEY CALLS - Get 10% off Woodhaven Calls w/coupon code - THP2022 - http://bit.ly/2IagiSe MAPPING - Get 20% Off OnX Hunt! The excitement of getting a new property to hunt whitetails is a tough feeling to beat. Whether you purchase a new piece of ground to own, pay for a lease, or even just get permission on a piece of ground, the mystery of what you will see takes hold. From the first day of scouting it, you begin to look for signs of bucks in the area, rubs, scrapes, even sheds. You are looking for places to hang stands, where to put food plots, what ever you can to give you the best chances of success on this new farm. One of the biggest thing to figure out on a new piece of ground is where the deer are bedding. For new hunters especially, it can be tough to identify what a bedding area is. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we dive into the classifications of bedding areas for whitetails. We take a look at properties we hunt and where we have hung stands in the past to give you the best classification of bedding areas we can. On this week's podcast we are trying out a new podcast style and need your feedback. We have been filming for years with the folks at Whitetail Properties and it's time we begin to break down in fine detail the nuance details of habitat management. So this week, let us know in the comments what you think about this podcast style! Bedding thickets come in all shapes and sizes, but so do the implementation guidelines. This week we walk you through how we would cut a unit that is an average stocking rate with average ranges of timber size classes. We break it down 1/3, 1/3, and 1/3rd and apply a girdle/spray, fell, and hinge to each 1/3rd. This creates a great matrix of sunlight, structure, and new plant growth that will ultimately hold deer in these secure units during daylight hours. What more do you want?!?Watch the LandBeat video here are this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq9TIMJRg4k. We hope you enjoy the behind the scenes look at creating a bedding thicket in the hot June sun!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq9TIMJRg4k&authuser=0

Over the years, THP has discussed buck bedding as a big part of their hunting strategy. Recently the folks at the Mississippi State University Deer Lab did a study that tracked buck bedding behaviors. There are plenty of great hunters who have made a name for themselves by targeting buck beds. They've proven this deadly tactic can help you sneak tight to a buck's bedroom and ambush him as he's coming or going. But why doesn't everyone just use this buck bed strategy? Like any tactic or hunting style, it's situational. Just because you find a buck bed while scouting doesn't mean you'll have a hefty taxidermy bill this fall. In reality, you've...
