We review, celebrate, and trash the Video Nasties in a futile bid for psychological annihilation.
In this long awaited episode we watch the origin story for all modern zombie films, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968). Will we discuss it's the political and racial subtext of the movie, or will we get distracted talking about police robots and ivermectin bong rips? Listen and find out. In the thrilling finale of Demonpalooza, we watch NIGHT OF THE DEMON (1957), a film all about how mysteries and the supernatural will always be more fun that logic and reason. In the second of three spooktacular episodes we watch NIGHT OF THE DEMONS (1988), the best goddamn "teens-trapped-in-a-haunted-house" movie ever made! Follow LMO 415: Instagram: @foot415 Twitter: @lmodudes41 Follow Ashely Mcnasty: Instagram: @ashleymcnasty Twitter: @agent_nasty
In the first of three spooktacular episodes we watch NIGHT OF THE DEMON (1980) and defend Sasquatch against slanderous accusations and attempted character assassination in one of the worst movies we have had to watch for this. We take a trip down to Andalusia, where we are joined once again by the Mysterious Al, where we watched BLOODY MOON (1981) and curse the dastardly Spaniard, Jess Franco, for having created such a film. Get ready for some pomp and circumstance, because its GRADUATION DAY (1981). But be prepared for dissapointment, as there are no caps nor gowns, and it's mostly just a Track and Field slasher. In this episode we ride the ever-loving hell out of David Cronenberg's dick as we watch RABID (1978) & SCANNERS (1981). Follow LMO 415: Instagram: @foot415 — Twitter: @lmodudes41 Follow Ashely Mcnasty: Instagram: @ashleymcnasty — Twitter: @agent_nasty
This week we watch the indie horror classic PHANTASM (1979), Jerry and George get lost in the mortuary with a rather unhelpful undertaker, Elaine is tasked with sorting out Mr. Peterman's will, and Kramer starts driving an ice cream truck. In this gabaghoulish episode, we help ourselves to a' spicy plate of INFERNO (1980), and a side of THE BEYOND (1981) served on a bed of spinache & arugula, with walnuts, parmesan and a balsamic vinaigrette. Just in time for Pride we review John Waters classic ode to filth and queerness, PINK FLAMINGOS (1972). With our special guest, The Mysterious Al, we discuss the ethics of animal cruelty, nudity on film and representation of queerness in film. This episode we talk all things Jason! We watched FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980) and FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2(1981). These are the films that solidified the rules and tropes of the slasher genre. One remains a horror classic and the other a total snooze fest. Follow LMO 415: Instagram: @foot415 Twitter: @lmodudes41 Follow Ashely Mcnasty: Instagram: @ashleymcnasty Twitter: @agent_nasty
This episode we are headed for the Big Apple! We watched MANIAC (1980) and BASKET CASE (1982) with our special guest DummyMan. One film is about serial killer on the mean streets of NYC and the other is about a psychic tumor and his brother doing some site seeing in the greatest city in the world. Our conversation covers topics that range from the grindhouse theaters of 42nd street, to battles of light and darkness in the Dead Sea Scrolls. In this entry we watched MARK OF THE DEVIL (1970), where we are treated to twink witch hunters, ghastly torture, bouncing bosoms, poor dubbing, and impotence! Follow LMO 415: Instagram: @foot415 Twitter: @lmodudes41 Follow Ashely Mcnasty: Instagram: @ashleymcnasty Twitter: @agent_nasty
In this entry we watch EVILSPEAK (1981), a film about the dangers of combining Satanism with the exciting new world of computers! We also discuss Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey (spoilers, he's cringe) and repeatedly invoke the legendary guitarist Esteban. In this episode we get hot, wet and stiff with NEKROMANTIK (1987). Also the movie is in german, so I couldn't get any good quotes for the cold open, so I threw in something by Werner Herzog.
This is an old episode that I decided to reupload. I made some minor edits to it, I dont think you will notice.
This episode features our first guest, Dummy Man, and we are very sorry that we made him watch DON'T GO IN THE HOUSE (1979) & DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT (1973) We had to record this one on McNasty's phone, so please forgive the tinny sound and occasional audio glitch.
This week we watched SNUFF (1976) and LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET (1977). The first film takes us on a boring South American romp through the Manson murders and the second takes us into the bleak abyss of absolute nihilism.
On this Yuletide episode we watched CHRISTMAS EVIL (1980) & SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT (1984) Santa Claus is coming to give every mom the greatest gift of all... head, its head. Oh also he kills people.
We watched HOME SWEET HOME (1981) & PROM NIGHT (1980). One is a disco-tastic slasher with a tricked out fuck van, the other a PCP fueled grindhouse flick with the most charismatic figure to ever grace the silver screen. Oh its also set during Thanksgiving.
In this episode we watch NIGHTMARE (1981) & BUTCHER, BAKER, NIGHTMARE MAKER (1981). One is a thought provoking and genre defying film about the dangers of homophobia and corruption of the criminal justice system; the other is a painfully boring movie about the dangers of walking in on your parents in the middle of a bondage scene.
In our first episode we talk about THE EVIL DEAD (1981) & THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974). Are these horror classics too problematic for the current era or do they stand the test of time? Do we actually ask that question in the episode? Listen and find out!
Spencer falls asleep while watching FACES OF DEATH (1978), a very boring film about mummies, monkey brains, and libertarian assassins. ***************************** Faces of Death (1978) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjdjkmadANs
In our inaugural episode, we discuss SCUM(1979), a stark and brutal look into a British Borstal school, and try to figure out who the Daddy is. *************************** Scum (1979) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BE7YjbpEHV0&t=2435s Scum (1977) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7iwPUAQvOw
