No, your eyes do not deceive you. Yes, this is episode 260. No, there is no episode 259 (yet). You’re probably thinking at this point, “what the blue hell are you even talking about?” All will be revealed. Also being revealed is the Real World Horror of a witch doctor releasing a swarm of bees in the courtroom where he’s being tried for, you guessed it, witchcraft. We also discuss Horror Business about Halloween Horror Nights being taken over by vampires, Jason Voorhees coming to Dead by Daylight, and a couple of notable remakes. We also examine a new trilogy from the legend Dario Argento. For our film reviews, we discuss a hotel full of devil worshippers, invincible serial killers, and Shnevely from Harry Potter (you remember Shnevely) in They Will Kill You. We also take a trip to the brightly painted nightmare realm of Monkey’s Magic Merry Go Round and descend into madness, surrounded by puppets. So get up, get down, and party hardy with The Grave Plot Podcast!
It's Freddy vs. Jason, the 10th film in the A Nightmare on Elm Street universe and the 13th installment featuring Jason Voorhees, so as you can imagine, things get pretty intense. These two iconic horror villains collide in one movie, battling each other while leaving a trail of victims in their wake. It's VS Month, or maybe VS Two Months-ish, which is usually focused on “movie vs. movie.” But for the first entry, we're doing “character vs. character” movie matchups with Alien vs. Predator and Freddy vs. Jason to decide which one is better and who would actually watch this.Oscar and Carl watch these horror titans clash to figure out who would watch it.If you have any questions or requests, send them to askwwwtpodcast@gmail.comFind us through:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@whowouldwatchthisInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/whowouldwatchthis/TikTok: @podcastwhowouldwatchthisLetterboxd:Carl: https://letterboxd.com/carlllllllllll1/Oscar: https://letterboxd.com/oscarfart/More links: https://linktr.ee/whowouldwatchthis

This week on Friday Night Frightfest, we are hitting the "lucky number seven" of two of the greatest slasher sagas in history! We are comparing two of the most daring entries in their respective franchises: the telekinetic showdown Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988) and the groundbreaking meta-masterpiece Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994). It's a clash between the ultimate supernatural slasher and the movie that dared to break the fourth wall before "meta" was a household word. Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988) Directed by John Carl Buechler, The New Blood is often cited by fans as the "Jason vs. Carrie" installment. This is the monumental debut of Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees, bringing a newfound physical intensity and rage to the role that defined the character for the next decade. The story follows Tina Shepard, a girl with telekinetic powers who accidentally resurrects Jason from the bottom of Crystal Lake while trying to bring back her deceased father. With a massive psychic showdown and some of the franchise's most brutal practical kills—including the iconic sleeping bag moment—this entry turned Jason into a force of nature that literally required a supernatural match-up to stop. Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994) Directed by Wes Craven himself, New Nightmare took the franchise to an entirely new dimension. Abandoning the continuity of the previous films, this entry takes place in the "real world," where actress Heather Langenkamp (playing herself) is stalked by a darker, more terrifying entity that has taken the form of Freddy Krueger. As Freddy begins to bleed into reality, terrorizing the cast and crew of the Nightmare films, the movie deconstructs the entire slasher genre. It's a brilliant, psychological horror film that explores the burden of fame, the danger of archetypes, and what happens when the monster you created decides to come for its creator. Join us as we analyze how these seventh installments reinvented their monsters. We'll discuss the visceral, heavy-metal spectacle of Kane Hodder's first outing as Jason versus the high-concept, cerebral terror of Wes Craven's meta-commentary. Spoilers start around 7:21.

Although she wasn't the final girl in this installment, Kerry Noonan played a character with final girl qualities as sweet and responsible camp counselor, Paula, in “Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.” Tune in to hear all about filming the sequel that revived Jason Voorhees, her thoughts on the film's more self-aware, comedic tone, and the additional made-for-tv horror movie she starred in with Louise Fletcher.
MONSTER PARTY HAS A LIST OF GRIEVANCES. NOW THERE'S A SHOCK!!! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD have a Jason Voorhees-sized axe to grind with a whole series of genre-related annoyances. We're so ticked off that we decided to have a beastly bitch-fest that we're calling… MONSTER PARTY'S BONE PICKERS!!! The cast of MONSTER PARTY has never been shy when it comes to "bones to pick" about certain aspects of their individual monster kid experience. Whether it's Comic-Con exclusive hoarders, film logic flaws, or the age-old slow zombie versus fast zombie debate, we'll call it like we see it. But despite our occasional impromptu rants, sometimes it's not enough. So, for us to maintain our overall childlike wonder during these difficult times, what we needed was an episode that was all about venting! Join us for a hosts-only edition of MONSTER PARTY, where we take aim at a number of hot-button issues, including movie theater vs. home theater, ridiculously expensive autographs, Bava film tampering, scantily clad Leia canceling, Disney gouging, James Cameron cat hate, wondrous website bios, and soooo much more! MONSTER PARTY HAS A BEEF! IF ONLY IT WAS GERRIT GRAHAM FROM THE PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE. LOOK IT UP, PEOPLE!
This week, DM is away which means Count Vardulon is finally able to watch a trilogy of films he's been dying to see and DM wanted to have nothing to do with. In DOLLY, a couple's romantic hike turns into a nightmare when they stumble across a mysterious hulking figure, dressed as a doll: dress, corn-yellow wig, and cracked porcelain mask. You've seen horror movies. Weirdos in the woods rarely bring good news. The woman, Macy (Fabianne Therese), is kidnapped by the gargantuan doll and brought to their house to live as the newest plaything. How will Macy escape? That's the flick. And it's at this point that I find myself wanting to stretch DOLLY into one of a few directions, kinda like how FRIDAY THE 13TH improved on its initial concept of "masked campground killer." Do we go into Dolly's psychology? Unlike Jason, there is internal conflict, gesticulated passionately in Max the Impaler's performance. Tender, though clumsy, maternal instincts clash with bratty, violent tantrums. Dolly seems to want to compensate for a love or stability they've clearly lacked in their own lives. I don't need a CHAINSAW MASSACRE kind of prequel, but I find myself drawn to this back-and-forth, wish to put Dolly in more situations to understand where they'd like to be as opposed to where they mentally are.We could also go for grimy gonzo. Director Rod Blackhurst wastes no time in treating body parts as a child would their macabre plastic graveyard of toys (My mind reverts to my son's decapitated board of Hungry Hungry hippos.) It's not just the gore, either. Blackhurst relishes in the disgust inherent within the dirtiest dollhouse on Earth. Just saying, there's a pacifier lying around that has to have the entire Hepatitis alphabet crawling all over it.The last direction we could borrow from Jason Voorhees? Unabashed silliness. DOLLY could uppercut a dude's head clean off and I wouldn't bat an eye. Some of this humor seems self-aware, poking a cheeky finger into the face of horror tropes. I wouldn't mind if DOLLY 2 further followed Tobe Hooper's example and eschewed its attempt at existential terror in favor of goofball parody. However, as it stands, the mixture leaves me unsatisfied. The movie's too bare-bones to flesh out its best character or relish in the nastiness. Macy simply makes the kind of decisions serving only to stretch out the runtime instead of providing an audience facsimile to root for. And by the sixth time Macy gains an upper hand only to allow Dolly the chance to get up and chase her again, I've rolled my eyes to the extent of twisting off their stalks.I don't endorse this movie. I endorse its potential. What's the saying? "Go write your first novel. When it's done, bury it in the backyard. Then, walk back inside and start work on your first novel."---DOLLY is now available to watch, buy or rent via video on demand.Follow The Movies on Instagram & LetterboxdThrow a couple dollars in the tip jar!

Recorded Live: Saturday, March 14, 2026 · Lafayette, LAWhat happens when two bad movie enthusiasts take over a panel room at the Louisiana Comic Convention? Pure, glorious chaos. In this special live episode, host Jamie Ray is joined by Jeffrey Corbello — member of Plastic Microphone Studios and host of the Red Dog Terrain YouTube Channel — for a panel called "You Watched WHAT?!?" Recorded live in front of a crowd in Lafayette, Louisiana, the two dig into some of their all-time favorite bad movies and make the case for why they love them anyway. From the low-budget, gorilla-suited madness of Robot Monster to the gleefully ridiculous Jason X — where Jason Voorhees takes his machete to outer space — Jamie and Jeffrey celebrate the films that are so bad, they've somehow become essential. It's a love letter to bad cinema, filmed live with a crowd of fellow fans who clearly get it.Whether you're a die-hard devotee of schlocky sci-fi, cheese-soaked horror, or just movies that have absolutely no business being as entertaining as they are, this one's for you.Find out more about Jeffrey and Red Dog Terrain by visiting Instagram and YouTube. We're back after some technical difficulties. And we may have missed Friday the 13th by a few days, but we were determined to get this episode out to you. The New Blood is an entry in the F13 franchise that has always been very polarizing, especially for boasting some of the greatest FX that never were seen, thanks to extensive cuts by the studio. Anyway, as always, we've picked out the most loathsome characters from the film, so join us at the end of the episode in voting for which one was the most deserving to die. This week's Empire Podcast is the second of the year to fall on a Friday the 13th (November will complete the hat-trick), and so the podteam — Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Ben Travis — discuss the life and work of one Jason Voorhees, and head off in a rather unexpected direction. Speaking of unexpected directions, they also pop off to space to discuss their favourite movie astronauts (SPOILERS for some space films, including Gravity), run their collective eye over the week's movie news, including the new Disclosure Day trailer, Quentin Tarantino's newly-announced play, and Arnie's perhaps premature announcement of King Conan. They also review War Machine (again, with a SPOILER WARNING attached), Reminders Of Him, and How To Make A Killing. And guest-wise, Chris sits down with the great Tim Roth, star of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, from 44:40 - 1:01:50 to talk about improvising the movie's opening line, not watching his own movies, and his love of Would I Lie To You? Which is, in fact, true. Enjoy!

As Ted (aka, Teddy Bear) in “Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter,” Lawrence Monoson got to call Crispin Glover a “dead f*ck,” go skinny-dipping with a bunch of soon-to-be victims, and get his head slashed through a projector screen. Tune in to hear all about working on one of most popular sequels in this franchise, the method acting choice he made that didn't turn out so well, and additional stories about his heartfelt performances in “The Last American Virgin” and “Mask.”
On this episode of the SMIC Supershow, Mike and Cole head to Camp Crystal Lake to talk about one of horror's most iconic slashers: Jason Voorhees. In honor of Friday the 13th, we tackle a deceptively simple question: If someone already knows who Jason is, but has never watched the series, which single movie would you show them to introduce them to the world of Friday the 13th? We each pick our one definitive entry from the long-running franchise and explain why it's the perfect gateway into Jason's bloody legacy—whether it's the kills, the atmosphere, the camp counselors, or the hockey mask itself. If you've ever wondered where a newcomer should start with the franchise, or you just love debating the best entry in the series, this episode is for you. Grab your sleeping bag, avoid the woods, and join us for a killer conversation.
Happy Friday the 13th! Two months in a row with a Friday the 13th, and that means two months in a row with a visit from our good friend, Stanley, from The Gory Gays podcast. He joins Scotty, and together they take a cruise ship to New York City as they discuss "Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan". Stanley also answers some listener questions and lets you know what he and Alex have been up to!"Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" was directed by Rob Hedden. In this entry of the popular series, Kane Hodder returns as Jason Voorhees, who is resurrected from the bottom of Crystal Lake before he starts a murder spree on board a ship taking a group of graduates to New York City.Feel free to send us a message! It's another Friday the 13th this year so we're talking about the 3rd film in the Jason Voorhees saga.
He's back! The man behind the mask! Friday the 13th is keeping us busy this year with two in two months and another on the way. This time we're taking a look at 1986's Jason Lives, the movie that canned the original plan to have Tommy Jarvis take up the machete and establishes Jason Voorhees as a lumbering, unstoppable killing machine from beyond the grave! In this movie Tommy Jarvis skips the mental hospital he's been confined at to return to Crystal Lake, since renamed to Forest Green in order to shake its horrible reputation. His mission: dig up the body of Jason Voorhees, who has haunted him since he was a little kid, and make sure that he's dead. But when Tommy's obsession overlaps with an electrical storm, a bolt of lightning strikes the body of Jason and brings him back from the grave once again to kill everyone in sight. Now it's up to Tommy to face his fears and put Jason back in the ground for good. When A New Beginning hit theaters it did characteristically well in box office but faced a significant problem with fans: They hated the new direction. They came for Jason and they left with Tommy and everyone hated it. So Frank Mancuso Jr., now a little preoccupied with his War of the Worlds and Friday the 13th TV shows, left the entire project in the hands of writer and director Tom McLoughlin with one clear directive: Do whatever you want but bring back Jason. Hush now… and listen closely. This week on the Scary Spirits Podcast, I invite you back to Camp Crystal Lake as we honor the cursed calendar day that started it all—Friday the 13th. Join your doomed counselors, Karen and Greg, as they bravely revisit the 2009 Friday the 13th film, dissecting every kill, callback, and chilling moment that dares disturb Jason's legacy. As the blood runs cold, they sip on a wickedly themed cocktail—the “Jason Voorhees Crystal Lake Chiller”—a drink as deceptive and dangerous as the waters themselves. This episode is a must-listen for horror fans, slasher devotees, and anyone craving a nostalgic dive into one of the most infamous franchises in horror history. Remember…If you shouldn't be listening…You'll know. Jason Voorhees’ Crystal Lake Chiller • 1 1/2 oz Blue Curacao (for a deep lake-blue color)• 1 oz Vodka (clear like lake water)• 1/2 oz Lime juice (for sharpness)• 1/2 oz Triple sec• A splash of soda water (to add a misty effect)• Blue edible glitter (to mimic the shimmer of water under moonlight)• A sprig of mint (to represent the forest around Crystal Lake) Instructions: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in the Blue Curacao, vodka, lime juice, and Triple sec. Shake vigorously until the mixture is well chilled. Strain into a highball glass filled with crushed ice. Top with a splash of soda water for a slight fizz. Sprinkle blue edible glitter over the top to create a shimmering water effect. Garnish with a sprig of mint and either a small decorative machete or a mask resting on the rim of the glass. Source: creepybonfire.com A Brief Synopsis: Against the advice of locals and police, Clay scours the eerie woods surrounding Crystal Lake for his missing sister. But the rotting cabins of an abandoned summer camp are not the only things he finds. Hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees lies in wait for a chance to use his razor-sharp machete on Clay and the group of college students who have come to the forest to party. Some of the topics discussed and highlights of this episode include: Karen gives us a history of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Our hosts reminisce about the band Night Ranger and the song “Sister Christian”. We learn some safety facts about motorcycle helmets. The history of “Hustler” magazine is discussed. This week the guys head to Screamville and talk about Scream 7. They open the show wondering why MTD isn't there. He is buying a new Civic and Brad wonders if it's a lateral move from a Subaru. They finally get into Scream and wonder what it would be like if there was a Ghostface in every state. MTD trains each one to make them the killing machines they need to be. The guys wonder about Ashley and how she is doing since this is her favorite movie series of all time. Brad laments the fact that Neve Campbell is in this movie and wishes Jenna Ortega was in this movie. The guys wonder what a reality real world house would be like if it had iconic slasher killers in it just hanging out while MTD is the host. Plus, The wonder who would win in a fight, Ghostface or Jason Voorhees. This week on Scaredycast, we dive into some horror hot takes, a bizarre crime story, and listener tales from one of the creepiest places in America. We debate whether The Exorcist still holds up as a terrifying movie or if modern audiences are too desensitized. Then we ask an important survival question: if Jason Voorhees existed in real life, would most people actually survive him? We also discuss whether horror movies are failing to scare audiences because we've seen everything—or because filmmakers aren't taking enough risks anymore. We talk about the absolutely insane story of a Louisiana man accused of pretending to be disabled in order to lure a nanny and have her perform infant-style care like diaper changes. Police say the suspect allegedly used a nanny service to bring victims to his home and was arrested on a human trafficking charge, with investigators saying similar incidents had happened before. And finally, a listener writes in with stories from working inside Zak Bagans' The Haunted Museum—including what it's like behind the scenes around some of the most infamous cursed objects in paranormal lore. Love is very much in the air on the Empire Podcast this week, as Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Becky Darke cram themselves into the podbooth and get all misty-eyed over Jason Voorhees, the masked maniac from the Friday The 13th movies, just in time for his birthday. But Valentine's Day also looms large this weekend, so the podteam answer a listener question about the worst choices made in rom-coms. The answers will shock you. Elsewhere, our intrepid quartet discuss the week's movie news, including the shock news that Mike Flanagan has decided to adapt a Stephen King story, and review Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights, Bart Layton's Crime 101, Corin Hardy's Whistle, and Hasan Hadi's The President's Cake. And Helen sits down on Zoom with Emerald Fennell to ask her all about her adaptation of the classic novel. [45:29 - 1:02:11 approx] Enjoy!
Nick is joined again by film critics Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy for a packed round of new movie reviews. They break down the latest take on Wuthering Heights starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, the chaotic sci-fi satire Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die with Sam Rockwell, and the thriller Crime 101 featuring Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry. They also weigh in on the animated sports comedy Goat, with plenty of agreement, disagreement, and side tangents along the way. Esmeralda Leon jumps in later for a spirited conversation about Friday the 13th superstitions, which quickly turns into a deep dive on Jason Voorhees and his most memorable kills. There's a firm stance taken on the fact that he absolutely did not take Manhattan, along with a playful breakdown of how Jason and Freddy Krueger operate very differently and why those differences fuel their long-running feud. It's movie talk with a side of horror nerdery, exactly as it should be. [Ep 429]
