"Bow to your masters, dirty criminal scum! Bow to your masters!" We here at Disenfranchised are saddened by the loss of the great Kevin Conroy... almost as saddened as we are the Batman: Mask of the Phantasm had a direct-to-video sequel (making it ineligible for us to cover). Instead, we're forced to take on a movie we'd all but forgotten existed, but one that allows us to chat about Kevin Smith, his View Askew-niverse, and eulogize the late Conroy. Where does this film rank amongst the other Askew-niverse films? How has pot affected Smith's filmmaking? Can any other Batman actor even compete with Conroy in terms of overall supremacy? Listen in as we tackle all these subjects and so many more! IN MEMORIAM: KEVIN CONROY 1955-2022 Today, November 11th, we all got the news that the one and true Batman, Kevin Conroy passed. We're going something we haven't done before and hope we don't have to do again for a while, We're replaying a episode we did on The Mask of the Phantasm that included my panel with him from San Francisco Comic Con on June 8th, 2018. I was fortunate enough to meet Kevin a few times, I just talked him in December at the LA Comic Con and he was always gracious, he loved being known for Batman, He loved saying "I am Vengeance" but more importantly, you can always tell he really loved the fans. Thank you, Kevin, for sharing yourself with us.

This Mother does actually have a name. Matt mistakenly refers to a Phantasm film as a Hellraiser installment. Strange coincidence that all of these afflicted teens are in the same facility. Only Matt would make an MSDS reference during a horror episode. Join us as we discuss our exhausting work schedules. We try to record a trimmed down episode due to our tiredness and end up talking for longer than the film's runtime. Matt mistakingly refers to Gerald McRaney as William Randolph Hearst. This suicide by tv theory is loose at best. Finally, how are all these teens okay with being hypnotized?Follow us on Twitter @CinemaPoisonContact us at email@example.com

That's right we review The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986). Where the family returns for some good ol human chili and wreak havoc in Texas once more a decade later. We talk about how different this one was from the first entry. Then we take on Phantasm 2 (1988) which came out a few years later in a completely different styled film about the Tall Man and friends returning to the world of the living to take out multiple towns, but he isn't alone. Reggie & Mike are hot on the Tall Mans heels to stop him and his evil once and for all. Both movies we review and spill our favorite trivia about both the films! JOIN US! It's October. So naturally, or should I say supernaturally? No, naturally's probably right. The point is that naturally, because it's October, I invited Jim Knipfel on the pod to talk scary movies. Jim has long been a champion of_ Halloween III: Season of the Witch, the misfit outcast entry in the Halloween film series that's about druids, killer masks and Irish robots instead of Michael Myers. And he's right to champion it. _Halloween III is a great, fun, weird movie despite its reputation. And Phantasm is weird and odd and terrific too. Jim blew my mind clean off a couple times with background info about these two cult masterpieces, particularly with respect to Angus Scrimm's non Phantasm career. Also, I blunder into a wild moment of amateurish ignorance by revealing I didn't know Michael Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" was the theme from The Exorcist. I only watched The Exorcist once and I forgot the soundtrack. "Tubular Bells" is a sample in a DJ Shadow song and I never connected it to The Exorcist. Let me know if I have to turn in my gun and badge. Jim's defense of Halloween III is here (https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/halloween-iii-season-of-the-witch-deserves-another-look/). Subscribe to Jim's Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/jimknipfel/posts). it's terrific.
Phantasm is a Philly-based heavy, alternative-rock band producing intricate, melodic songs in avant-garde stylings reminiscent of Muse, Royal Blood, Tool, and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Their latest single, Spirit Box (Tuned To You), is set to release Friday, June 10, 2022, on all major streaming platforms. The song was inspired by real-life experiences using a spirit box to connect with the metaphysical in this dimension and the world beyond. The device receives messages of spiritual entities woven through a musical pattern, emitting rhythmic bursts with distinct chopping and fragmented AM radio signals. Although experimenting with the gadget may have been the original inspiration for the song, Spirit Box (Tuned To You), is a metaphor and commentary on the digital age we live in today. Originally hailing from Western New York, Phantasm first hit the music scene in 2003 and later relocated to Philadelphia, PA. With onstage exploits, such as sampling their music live and using power tools as instruments, the band's explosive performance has taken innovation to a new level. They balance a sophisticated, avant-garde metal edge with a powerful, straightforward rock foundation. After releasing their last album, Phantasm has spent the last two years writing an album demonstrating their refined approach to a progressive 90's rock sound.

To celebrate the changing of the seasons, we have an introspective look at how family death impacts the life of a young man, causing his retreat into a fantasy world that includes flying murder balls, corpse theft, slave labor on a mysterious red planet, and a tall man filled with what appears to be nacho cheese. Actually, maybe PHANTASM isn't very introspective at all. This cult horror film is odd, plotless, dreamlike and yet somehow still compulsively watchable. What's up Dream Warriors! So September came and went in a flash, and that can only mean one thing. Our Screamin' September has officially come to a close. We had a great time this month, covering one of the most popular slasher franchises in horror history and we're grateful to have been able to do so with not one, but two awesome guests! This week Josh makes his return and joins us to discuss the newest entry in the Scream franchise and one that we all agree is one of our favourites. We wrap up our biggest Villain Faceoff series to date and see how Ghostface in Scream 5 competes with the previous ones and the results are pretty surprising! Our next episode will be a bit delayed, but we promise it'll be a banger as our two episodes in October will both be franchise episodes, starting off with Phantasm. This will be a first time franchise watch for both of us as we've both only seen the first one!
