1968 film directed by George A. Romero
POPULARITY
An androgenous figurehead of a found family that refuses to grow up -- if you've never thought of Peter Pan in those terms, director Tina Romero is here to set you straight (er, in a manner of speaking). Tina also shares the ins, outs, and inspirations behind her feature debut, Queens of the Dead, which continues and reinvents a family legacy of zombie cinema (Tina is the daughter of the legendary George A. Romero). And as always, Jordan digs up all the connective tissue between all of the above. Then, Jordan has one quick thing about Nia DaCosta's new film, Hedda, starring Tessa Thompson. Feeling Seen is hosted by Jordan Crucchiola and is a production Maximum Fun.Need more Feeling Seen? Keep up with the show on Instagram and Bluesky.

Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! It's October, so that means it's time for our “Shocktober” series, where we cover movies that go bump in the night! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and returning guest Tony Sedani discuss Tom Savini's overlooked 1990 remake of the George Romero classic, Night of the Living Dead!A quick pace! Mild undead nudity! Shocking neck violence! A door you can punch through! A female lead who transitions from damsel in distress to legitimate action hero! Fantastic makeup effects and memorable zombie designs, including one that's twisted up like a pretzel! A great "one awful night in a single location" movie! No real explanation for the horrors that ensue! Social commentary on division and class war! Good ol' boys toying with zombies! Feelings of hopelessness! An impossible Candyman reference! A cast that includes the legendary Tony Todd, Laura Dern's stunt double from Jurassic Park, Patricia Tallman, the writer of The Gingerdead Man, William Butler, an unrecognizable Bill Moseley, and Tom Towles as the worst dude ever! While it may live in the shadow of the 1968 original, it's one of the better remakes and some people's preferred version of Night of the Living Dead! In addition, Alex talks about his favorite movies from Fantastic Fest 2025, including the Iko Uwais-produced martial arts extravaganza Ikatan Darah, Johannes Roberts' monkey-gone-mad creature feature Primate, Justin Long's unique take on corrupt cops in Los Angeles, Night Patrol, Steve Kostanki's Deathstalker, V/H/S/Halloween, the shark thriller Beast of War, and Curry Barker's oddly funny cautionary horror tale, Obsession! Finally, Tony shares his spoiler-free thoughts on The Long Walk, One Battle After Another, Good Boy, and The Smashing Machine, while Alex does the same for the Shudder original Night of the Reaper, and the realization of a plumber's worst nightmare, Scared Shitless! You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends! The Death Don't Do Fiction podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! This episode Nez and Brian take a trip out to Pennsylvania to hold up in a isolated farm house from a horde of flesh eating ghouls in the 1990 Tom Savini film NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. For reasons unknown, the recently deceased are rising from the grave as flesh-hungry zombies. Fleeing from the undead horde, a small group of survivors, including Barbara (Patricia Tallman), Ben (Tony Todd) and Harry (Tom Towles), sequester themselves in a remote farmhouse. With the zombies outside the house multiplying, tensions flare, as the group argues over the best way to escape their increasingly dire situation before they are overrun completely. Not all horror movies are strange. Some (a lot) of them are very straightforward. Friday The 13th is a revenge slasher in a camp. Cujo is a rabid dog vs people story. Night Of The Living Dead is mostly a zombie home invasion mvoie. 'Strange' horror comes from A24 (Hereditary, Lamb) and David Lynch and Coralie Fargeat etc., But sometimes, a 'normal' horror movie has something really strange hidden inside of it. Let's talk about it.

From the flesh-hungry dead of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD to the desert-burrowing Graboids of TREMORS, from cursed anthologies in TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE to Annie Wilkes' brutal obsession in MISERY, 1990 pulled no punches. Add in the skin-crawling swarm of ARACNOPHOBIA, the demonic dread of THE EXORCIST III, and the monstrous outsiders of NIGHTBREED, and you've got one hell of a fight. Which film rules them all? Academy Award winning make-up FX artist Christopher Nelson (KILL BILL Vol 1 & 2, SUICIDE SQUAD 2016, HALLOWEEN 2018, HALLOWEEN KILLS, HALLOWEEN ENDS, AMERICAN HORROR STORY) joins Adam and Joe in the ArieScope studio to discuss his incredible career journey. From growing up on a healthy diet of Fangoria magazines and going to the movies as often as possible… to becoming consumed with the dream of making movies after seeing NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD on TV and then enamored with make-up FX after seeing DAWN OF THE DEAD in the theater… to a lifetime of FX work that lead him all the way to China where he worked with the great Quentin Tarantino on the KILL BILL movies… to winning Emmy Awards for his work on AMERICAN HORROR STORY… to almost walking away from working on SUICIDE SQUAD (2016) two different times before winning an Academy Award for his work on the film… to his amazing and surreal experience at the Oscars… to the pressure that came with taking the FX reigns on the beloved HALLOWEEN franchise and its highly opinionated fan base… to what it meant to see his Michael Myers mask on a banner for HALLOWEEN (2018) hanging from a sound stage at Universal Studios… to his thoughts on the current state of the industry and entertainment in general, Chris is a true giant at his craft and this candid conversation is one that every cinephile is sure to enjoy. It's time for one of those huge episodes. Well, it's a four parter anyways. 1990 was a damn fine year for horror movies. A group in Pennsylvania hole up in a farmhouse in an attempt to survive against rampaging undead feasting for their flesh. Night of the Living Dead is the classic zombie apocalypse movie from one of the greats, George A. Romero. Romero helped inspire what zombie movies are today and it's clear that the way this film portrayed a macro view of a zombie apocalypse set the stage for how films are utilizing survivor struggles in a post-apocalyptic world today. This was our first time watching the movie and although we had some mixed reviews, we all agreed the film is influential. Does the film hold up to current zombie movies or is it a product of its time? DownloadWelcome to episode 411 of LOTC and this episode is the start of a new decade for a new year. Each year LOTC has been visiting decades to rank their top 5 horror movies from each year. This year the crew has chosen the 1990's decade to travel through. !990 is where we have traveled to this episode and as we always do, we are ranking our top five horror movies from that year. We invited special guest Greg Buzzelli from Monsters and The Mosh Pit as well as other projects to join us. This was a year that surprised the hosts as they were thinking 1990 would be a weaker year for horror, but it was actually a strong year. So grab your favorite snacks and beverages and journey with us through the Land Of The Creeps.HELP KEEP HORROR ALIVETOP 5 LIST'SGREG B.1. IT2. BASKET CASE 23. BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR4. Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy are back to start 2025 with reviews…of a lot of 2024 movies. Albeit ones opening wider across the country now. But there are also some brand new releases including documentaries on a film that never was (George A. Romero's Resident Evil) and the songwriter who never wins an Oscar (Diane Warren: Relentless). Then a family is trapped amidst a pole reversal (Survive) and Adrien Brody tries to build a life in America (The Brutalist). Robbie Williams gets the musical biopic treatment as a chimpanzee (Better Man) while Julianne Moore & Tilda Swinton face a tough life together in Pedro Almodovar's latest (The Room Next Door). Pamela Anderson finds herself aging out in Vegas (The Last Showgirl) and Marianne Jean-Baptiste gives one of the year's best performances in the new film from Mike Leigh (Hard Truths). Finally, Gerard Butler returns as Big Nick to get the mastermind robber he lost the first time (Den of Thieves : Pantera). 0:00 - Intro 1:41 - George A. The one and only Tony Todd passed away recently and as huge fans of his work and movies the FM3 decided to talk about one of their faves "Night Of The Living Dead" (1990). This celebrated reboot was directed by none other than Tom Savini and even though it was panned upon release it has gone on to be known as a great zombie film and remake. Join Jef, Josh and Brian as they talk about this often overlooked flick.
George A. Romero shaped modern horror, invented zombies as we know them, and is just an overall legend. Resident Evil is one of the most well-known horror franchises in the world. What would have happened if the two ever came together? We also talk about the Cape Fear series that is coming to Apple TV.Tony Todd is a horror icon. We wanted to cover one of his lesser known movies. It was not important if the film was “good” or not. We just wanted something that conveyed the essence of Todd. When we saw Hellblazers, we figured it was the perfect choice.Even forgetting whether it is good (spoiler alert: it isn't), it was a horrible choice. Todd is only given a pair of scenes; the sum total does not even equal five minutes. This is Hellblazers in a nutshell. There are lots of hints at a perfectly acceptable horror movie that instead leave the audience with lots of questions. Why is it set during Christmas? Why spend so much time discussing a dog that never shows up? Why show chicken fat? While we admit 1987's Street Trash is a cult classic filled with great special effects, we do not like it. Which is why we want into its remake with some skepticism. As it turns out, director Ryan Kruger surpasses everything the original did. It is raunchy, silly, and very very gory. Today's episode Matthew and Nort review the 1968 American independent horror film Night of the Living Dead directed, photographed, and edited by George A. Romero, written by Romero and John Russo, produced by Russell Streiner and Karl Hardman, and starring Duane Jones and Judith O'Dea. The story follows seven people trapped in a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania, under assault by reanimated corpses. Although the flesh-eating monsters that appear in the film are referred to as "ghouls", they are credited with popularizing the modern portrayal of zombies in popular culture. We are a comedy movie review podcast where Matthew & Nort take turns watching and reviewing a movie the other host has not seen. They go over the entire plot with spoilers and discuss how they feel about the film. They also talk about fun facts, box office, actors, and how the movie impacted us.Join our Patreon to support the show and get ad-free podcast episodes, full access to our exclusive Patron Discord, and get access to a secret podcast called Flight School where we watch and review a TV Pilot voted on by the Patrons! We are back for that most magical time of the year. Spooky season. Autumn. October. Halloween. HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST 2! Every weekday all October we discuss a different horror movie discussion and we will have even more horror to discuss than last year because we're bookending the month with TWO movie review 6-Pack episodes in which we discuss 6 movies within a franchise or genre within a specific time limit for each movie. It's often where our lowest rated movies rear their heads and while that is no exception in today's episode, the good well outweighs the bad because we're discussing zombie fare from the master of the zombie movie, George A. Romero. A beloved horror icon and we have no less respect for the man because he invented a modern horror trope in such a way that no matter what you do if you decide to make your own zombie movie, you're always going to be ripping off George at least a little bit. A classic zombie gorefest? Commentaries on race, consumerism and class? Black lead actors surviving in horror? Funny zombie movies? George did it all and we discuss four decades of Romero zombie horror with the inventive “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD” from 1968, the iconic “DAWN OF THE DEAD” from 1978, the brutal “DAY OF THE DEAD” from 1985, the zombie revolution of “LAND OF THE DEAD” from 2005, the wobbly “DIARY OF THE DEAD” from 2007 and the baffling “SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD” from 2009. We only got six minutes to discuss each one and you better believe we ignore that limitation well into the episode. We had fun. One thing that George Romero will always give you is a gory good time. We'll admit, there are a lot of pointless and unnecessary remakes in the world. We will also admit that we're not particularly fond of the zombie genre to begin with, but all that said, we can ALSO admit that Tom Savini's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1990) is pretty damn good! Beyond some of the specific changes made to the storyline, this seems like a pretty standard, run-of-the-mill remake. While it IS that, it's also got a ton of interesting history to be discussed, which we dig into in this episode. Did you catch the gravedigging joke there? Just wanted to make sure.
