This is Esther's interview recorded by the One Beat faculty which I composed and arranged along with Zsolt Bartek on Saxophone and Clarinet. Esther is an immigrant from Ghana who has settled in the United States for about forty years. She speaks about her African market, which she owns and runs in the Bronx, why people, especially other immigrants from Africa and the Carribean visit her store. She tells us her dream to come to America and start a new life, her expectations for her children and grandchildren. Her interview was a story we were compelled to narrate musically, even her voice unfiltered and raw has a melody that is hard to miss.
