The final part of this summer's adventure, we cut it short due to the abnormal weather and I didn't fancy packing up in a storm.
This episode won't be to everyone's taste, it has a lot of history and me reading things. I have attempted a Radio 4 style podcast and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for listening in.
After a long and exhausting day on the 1st August 2023, we sat in our tent at 11pm and I recorded episode 5. I was too tired to publish that night, so I went to bed and woke up early to edit and publish, only to find my recorder settings had changed and I recorded 10 mins of silence. This is not the podcast I recorded, this is the one I am replacing the lost one with.
In the middle of a rain storm with a heavy wind and hoping tent doesn't collapse on us, here is the latest update.
The first actual episode from Land's end in Cornwall. It is a short one.
Not the official episode I recorded but the back up, sorry.
Back in Cornwall for the fourth series of podcasts on our annual adventures.
This time on hikenpod, I have driven a group of people to the seaside for a day trip, join me as I walk along the world's longest pleasure pier.
This weeks where an adventure didn't happen, well not a hiking one anyway. Right Here
Following the south west coast path from St Ives heading west, join me and my guest Jo. Whilst walking, tripping and dodging rocks and turrets, we make our way to Zennor head.
Chapter 1 - Thundridge, Hertfordshire, some thoughts on my birthday after an 18 mile bike ride in the glorious sunshine during the Summer Solstice. Chapter 2 - Hayle, Cornwall, some down time after a 6 hour drive due west. Chapter 3 - Land's End, Cornwall, the first pilgrimage of 2023 to my spiritual home.
Inside Trent park on this ancient settlement, alleged to be haunted and rife with devil worship.
It took a while to produce this episode and it was 3 days late. I left behind a usb A - usb C convertor, so I couldn't upload my audio. I could have recorded it on my phone but I wanted to keep the quality the same. This episode comes from Portland island in Weymouth, Dorset and is a mixture of Hike 'n' Pod and Bike 'n' Pod. I rode my new foldy bike 9 miles to get there. Thanks for listening.
A brief encounter in Hertfordshire, didn't make the destination due to a puncture. So I made this instead. For HnP supplemental visit markriley.org
I have returned to my previous idea of visiting islands around the UK and podcasting from them. There is a video version of this account but I think the audio might be a bit more interesting, you can watch it on markriley.org. In this episode I walked 5 miles round Wallasea island in Essex, a RSPB nature reserve and the head west to Two Tree Island also supported by the RSPB.
This is the longer podcast as I walk through Wormley words into the heart of Hertfordshire. This is an update of what is going on and enjoying the sunshine.
I recorded the first section of the podcast on my cassette deck very much like I used to as a child. The second section was recorded using my Fostex FD-4 four track. The background music was also recorded on the FD-4. All mixed files were uploaded to Reaper on a POP OS linux machine and rendered to MP3.
16 mile hikenpod from Enfield to Hertford. A little chat and some thoughts from Rye House.
Live radio broadcast from thedreadhouse.con on the Winter Solstice

My local authority have revamped and upgraded our local woodland walk. Molly and I have been using it and made it our regular adventure. It’s quite nice and will look amazing in ten years with all the new planted trees. It takes us around two hours door to door and we walk the last section […]
Yesterday, I travelled on the Emirates air line for the first time, here is how it went.
