In this episode of the Home School Dads series, David Nunnery is joined by Davis Carman, president of Apologia Educational Ministries, to tackle the essential role of a dad in the homeschool journey: encouraging and supporting his wife. Davis shares profound insights and actionable advice for husbands who want to move past feeling "lost" and become proactive leaders. This conversation is key for every dad committed to discipling his kids, strengthening his marriage, and fostering a confident, peaceful homeschool environment. Men's Challenge: Pay close attention to your wife's day without jumping in to solve problems. Observe her routines, listen to her tone of voice, and notice the moments she seems weary or overwhelmed. Based on your observations, choose one tangible, non-academic task to take off her plate for the entire week. This could be anything from handling all the evening clean-up to packing co-op lunches or managing the kids' bedtime routine. Make it your responsibility, and do it with a cheerful attitude. Key Takeaways: Own the Responsibility, Not Just the Workload: The wife carries the bulk of the day-to-day workload, but the husband must carry 100% of the responsibility for the family's mission and direction to prevent burnout. Create a Family Mission Statement: Dads should sit down with their wives and proactively develop a clear mission statement or "Elevator Speech" for why they homeschool. This acts as a compass when the school year gets difficult. The Three R's of Homeschooling: Prioritize Relationships (God, spouse, siblings), Reasoning (critical thinking), and Resolve (discovering God's calling) over mere academics. Be the Defender and File Keeper: The husband should be the one to defend the homeschooling decision to critics (friends, family, in-laws) and handle the administrative duties (knowing state laws, keeping records, standardized testing sign-ups). Provide a Weekly Planning Retreat: A practical way to support Mom is to take the kids for a consistent 2-4 hour block (like a Sunday evening) so she can leave the house, decompress, and plan the week. This boosts her confidence significantly. Never Ask "What Did You Do All Day?": When re-engaging with the family after work, do not question her productivity. Instead, immediately engage by asking the kids what they learned and taking the leadership role (the "captain is home"). Lead Family Worship/Discipleship: Use the dinner table or bedtime as a "Deuteronomy 6 moment" for asking spiritual questions, having conversations, and leading family worship. Today we're continuing with the Rising With Vitality After 55 mini-series, a special set of short conversations created just for women who are ready to feel younger, stronger, and more alive than they ever imagined. Here, we're not buying into the story that our best years are behind us. Instead, we're reclaiming our energy, awakening our gifts, and rising into a season of life that is powerful, joyful, and full of possibility. So if you've been feeling the tug for “something more,” if you're ready to call back your vitality and step into your brightest years—then you are in the right place. In today's conversation…The Gifts of the Wise Woman I want to celebrate something that doesn't get nearly enough attention: the gifts that come alive in us as we grow older. For too long, society has told women that aging means losing value. But the truth? As we move into our fifties, sixties, seventies and beyond, we actually step into some of our most powerful gifts. Think about it—you've walked through heartbreak, loss, joy, reinvention, and countless everyday battles. And because of that, you carry wisdom that can't be taught in any classroom or found in any book. Your gifts—your empathy, your intuition, your vision, your resilience—are medicine for this world. So call in the wise woman and “Call IT in With Dar!” Support the showFull Show Notes can be found at CallITInPodcast.comPhoto credit: Rebecca Lange Photography Music credit: Kevin MacLeod Incompetech.com (licensed under Creative Commons) Production credit: Erin Schenke @ Emerald Support Services LLC. Sarah Richardson talks about her new exciting research on insulin producing beta-cells that are single cells or small clusters rather than in islets. These extra-islet beta-cells make up most of the insulin producing capacity of the pancreas in young children and are particularly susceptible to immune attack in Type 1 diabetes. This important research explains why the loss of insulin producing cells in Type 1 diabetes is more severe in young children and informs future work on treating and preventing Type 1 diabetes.Send us a text

Your value isn't in your productivity. That uncomfortable feeling when you stop moving, stop doing, stop managing everyone else's life? That's not laziness talking. It's the voice of a nervous system that learned early on that being needed equals being safe. Your actual people want you to rest. They want you to have needs, wants, preferences. They want to take care of you sometimes too. And all of this is exactly what I break down in my new book, End Emotional Outsourcing.Pre-order the book now at https://beatrizalbina.com/book/ and get beautiful bonuses to begin this work today.

Are you having trouble getting along with people? Struggling with constant comparison, conflict, or the need for approval? This week's One Thing is all about identity—and how understanding who you truly are in Christ changes everything. Your vertical identity—who you are before God—will always drive your horizontal impact—how you relate to others. If you're rooted in God's truth about you, you'll stop needing validation from people who can't give what only God can. In this episode, Lina unpacks the false identities we often carry (like perfectionist, failure, or self-sufficient) and reminds us that our true worth is found in one place alone: being a child of God. ABOUT: Lina AbuJamra is a Pediatric ER doctor, now practicing telemedicine, and the founder of Living With Power Ministries. Known for her bold faith and down-to-earth honesty, she's passionate (and allegedly funny) about helping people connect biblical truth to everyday life. Whether through teaching, writing, or podcasting, Lina brings hope to those wrestling with life's hardest questions. When she's not speaking or creating content, she's providing medical and humanitarian aid in crisis zones like Lebanon and Uganda. Learn more about her at LivingWithPower.org. Pastoral ministry is not about filling empty seats but about seeing souls conformed to Christ. In this fourth sermon from our Summer Series, Pastor John MacArthur opens Galatians and exhorts pastors to embrace the sacred agony of shepherding their people toward holiness.
