This Podcast is to enlighten people about our upcoming sermon series; giving them the stories we are covering, things they want to look for, and other content they may need. Also, we will have a monthly leadership/discipleship podcast about how you can grow as a disciple and a leader: at church, at…
There is a tendency in Group Ministry to view yourself as the leader or the facilitator of your group and that may be all. The truth is you are not only the leader/facilitator you are also a discipler of the people in your group In this month's episode, we will explore what it looks like to move from being a leader to being a discipler in your group.
We are all disciplers for teh Word of God! How can we do this in our everyday life. Today we kick off this years POPCast by looking at Acts 2:42-47 and seeing how their example of life in Christ looks for us today.
At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus introduces, through the Parable of the Wise and Foolish builder, the two fundamental questions of Christian spirituality: What is God saying to you and what are you going to do about it? But how can we do what God is asking of us if we don’t know what he’s saying? What Jesus illuminates in Mark 1:14-15, is how to discern what God is saying. There are times when it feels like our world and God’s world are colliding (called a Kairos). When we have those times, we can step more fully into the Kingdom and wrestle with these two questions through a process of Repent and Believe.
In a brick wall, a brick is connected in all directions. It is not simply connected just up or just down. They are connected to the bricks below, to then side, and above them. So, as a member of the body of Christ, it is crucial that we press into all facets of our wall: above, beside, and below.
We see this play out in 1 Corinthians 4:14-17 Paul in a relationship with Corinth. In fact, he says he is their father. He is saying look I taught you, I gave you the information you need. Now I am sending Timothy and you need to imitate him in what you do and how you act. Which is who you are in Jesus. This idea of relational ministry is not new take a look at Jesus disciples and dealings with others. Jesus taught all the time (Sermon on the mount, feeding the five thousand, and many more.) Even in Luke 10:37 he tells an expert in the law to “Go and do likewise” when teaching the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus tells his disciples and us to do what he did go and talk with people, teaching them, show them, and let them go.
Is your life in balance? Are you living a life that looks to God, connects with others, and helps the world? Today we will talk about living a balanced life of discipleship; both what that is and how you can.
Nope I am not referring to a quote from Joey Tribbiani from the show Friends. This is for you, how are you? We get asked that all the time and it is always referring to a person’s physical and/or emotional state, but what about your spiritual state, how you doin? As a leader you are pulled in a lot of different directions. There is family, work, church, organizations, and so much more. But what about yourself? Are you taking time to make sure you are OK? As a Christian, the first place we need to do a check-up is spiritually. In our time together here you will be given some very basic ideas and questions to ask yourself to make sure you are doing well spiritually. To help you grow as a guide of others we should take a look at ourselves in the mirror and check-up, spiritually.
