The Cinematic Viewers are a group of individuals with a common love of film. We discuss movies using our contrasting backgrounds to guide our unique decisions resulting in a debate or discussion of some kind. We break down not only the dialogue and plotlines, but also directorial decisions and framing to try and grasp the thought process and message of the director and writers. A movie is a glimpse into a creator's mind that often challenges our personal beliefs or values by viewing a situation through a character. It immerses a viewer into a world crafted by a person with a vision and can result in quite a memorable experience. We, the Cinematic VIewers, take those experiences and unpack why they were so impactful or memorable. Cubix is a club focusing on all movies and tv shows puzzle-related. The miniseries our group will be creating will be centered around both 2019 and 2021 Escape Room films, Escape Room and Escape Room: Tournament of Champions. Despite these films both having relatively low budgets, they had massive earnings in the box office from their release years, becoming huge successes. Our podcast aims to discuss many of the big personal and debatable questions from both movies. The first escape room movie is centered around five strangers who participate in an exclusive escape room to earn money. These rooms are soon revealed to be deadly, as the contestants are pitted against each other in a fight for their lives. The second movie starts a couple of months after the first. We find one of the two surviving protagonists wanting to move on from the incident while the other is still hellbent on shutting down the company. This results in the start of the “Tournament of Champions”, where viewers meet a few new characters once broke free from their own individual escape rooms. We, The Movie Talk Club, want to address pieces of entertainment from all genres, time periods, and settings. We decided to analyse famous stories, even the most obscure ones, in order to discover how they can connect to our real lives. We want to discover hidden symbols masterminds behind these stories, and look at how film directors portray their stories. We will show how visual texts influence modern-day situations and help us address underlying societal issues.
