Great friendships are rare as adults. We go through most of life with built-in friendships, but then we're thrown into the real world where it seems much harder to find and maintain them. Using three key concepts, we'll discover how to create and cultivate meaningful friendships.

In the Sermon on the Mount from Jesus, he is inviting us to live as a part of His kingdom while still on earth. Our hope is that as we pay attention to these words of Jesus we will be better able to live in His kingdom on earth with more wisdom and wonder. We will seek to engage both our heads and our hearts; both the practical and mysterious. We want to ground our teaching in the realities of life and the hope of Jesus' coming kingdom.

Last week Amber and Gibbs were here and they talked about Jesus' emotions and how these emotions lead us to a greater understanding of just how much God cares for us. How God cares about our emotions, about our feelings. Tonight we're going to zoom out a little bit. Tonight we're going to look at Jesus' life as a whole. How he came to earth to teach us how to live and how we never have to walk alone in that.
Amber and Gibbs share about the emotions we experience as children made in God's image.

We know that navigating life is hard and we are all being pulled in 100 directions. One of those directions may be a life following Jesus. Jesus lived his life in a way that went against what people in culture were doing and still do. Throughout this series, we want to explore what it looks like to make that direction, The Way we live our lives and commit ourselves to following Jesus. Through accepting Jesus' invitation of love and kindness, being formed by His words and His life, bringing our challenges and struggles to Him, and doing it all in community, we can live in The Way of Jesus and show others His great love.

We just had two semesters of teachings and small group conversations. Now what? Summer time can feel daunting. Our rhythms change, our community shifts, and even our goals look different, so how do we hold onto our spiritual rhythms? How do we set ourselves up to have a summer of listening, responding, and engaging with our faith?

The Holy Spirit can feel mysterious and unrelated to our daily lives. Because of the mystery, it is hard for us to notice the Holy Spirit working. How do we pay attention to the Holy Spirit? How do we know when the Holy Spirit is speaking to us and directing us? What do our ordinary, regular days have to do with the Holy Spirit? Our hope is that this series will help us encounter and have a relationship with Holy Spirit, not just in the mountain top moments of our faith, but in the everyday ordinary moments.

What does it look like for us to wait well? What would it look like for us – in the midst of waiting – to decide to praise? Praise meaning to bring our whole selves to Jesus – not because of what may happen in the future but because of what He has in store for us today. This series will explore how God meets us in our waiting and uses it for our good as He transforms us and opens our eyes to more of Him.
