See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
E ora i grandi favoriti, a partire da Isaac Del Toro e Paul Seixas, senza dimenticare Juan Ayuso, dovranno recuperare terreno. Ci aspettano giornate calde in montagna.
Eric Jorgenson on The Book of Elon: High-Effort Optimism, Imagination, and AI SuperpowersDanny hosts Eric Jorgensen to discuss The Book of Elon and how studying Elon Musk reshaped Eric's imagination through “high effort optimism,” pairing an ambitious vision of the future with the grind to close the gap between fiction and reality. Eric shares practical imagination habits (asking “why/why not,” learning from history like the Wright brothers), his biography-style research process (collecting millions of words of public sources, distilling into a tightly curated 50,000-word “Elon speaks to you” experience), and how he balances memorable sentences with stories. They explore curation vs originality, Elon's influences (including Napoleon), learning as behavior change, misconceptions about Elon being money-motivated, and a “solarpunk” future blending nature with technological abundance. They also discuss AI as a tool, education models like Alpha School, and adapting careers to rapid AI-driven change.00:00 Welcome and Imagination00:58 High Effort Optimism02:31 Habits to Think Bigger04:29 Research and Curation Method08:15 Memorable Sentences and Stories10:21 Creativity Without Originality14:10 Elon's Influences and Strategy18:16 Reprogramming Through Practice19:45 Applying Ideas and Teaching22:38 Work Ethic and Tradeoffs28:49 Crisis Mode Mindset29:28 Wealth Versus Mission31:35 Gates Tesla Short Story33:51 Changing Minds On Elon36:13 Writing With AI Tools40:25 Rethinking School With AI43:05 Career Superpowers Era47:36 Solarpunk Future Vision51:28 High Effort Optimism
(Note: we had a technical issue that affected the first 12 minutes of Eric's camera feed, so you'll see a bit more wide cam than usual in the beginning. Our apologies!) Why is it that people with half your talent and twice your luck seem to be winning all the time? Because they understand leverage. And you're still trading hours for dollars. Eric Jorgenson spent a decade studying Naval Ravikant, one of the most influential entrepreneurs and thinkers in Silicon Valley, and distilled his wisdom into his classic book “The Almanack of Naval Ravikant”. In this episode, we break down the exact frameworks Naval used to build wealth, happiness, and freedom without getting crushed by the game everyone else is playing. In this episode, you'll learn: Why leverage is the only game that matters now and how code, media, and capital separate the rich from everyone else "Productize yourself” — the two word formula that unlocks specific knowledge and makes competition irrelevant Why hard work is overrated and judgment is the real multiplier that creates 100X outcomes The four types of luck, from blind to built, and how to engineer serendipity into your destiny Why rising above status is the ultimate form of freedom If this conversation about leverage and ownership resonates with you, come to Mainstreet Millionaire Live, where we're breaking down how to source, negotiate, finance, and buy a business. Listen to the full podcast: https://bit.ly/SKMPJORGENSONEric Jorgenson spent five years distilling the mind of the most consequential entrepreneur alive, and the result is The Book of Elon. This is a conversation of what it actually means to bet on the future: having kids, choosing missions, staying hungry when life gets comfortable, and why the people who've tried to do anything in the world understand Elon in a way casual critics never will. This one goes deep on the SpaceX mafia and what the IPO means for hardware's next era, why science fiction isn't entertainment but a pull toward a future that's already written, the midwit curve, productivity porn, and the tension between being radically generous with your time and building the thing you're actually here to build. Eric Jorgenson is the CEO of Scribe Media, the industry's largest professional publishing service, dedicated to helping entrepreneurs, executives, and experts write, publish, and market their books. Eric is also the bestselling author of The Almanack of Naval Ravikant and The Anthology of Balaji, with over a million copies sold. Beyond his publishing expertise, Eric is an investor in deep tech startups and an influential blogger and podcaster. His unique journey from author and curator to CEO-especially after helping revive Scribe Media from bankruptcy-makes him a fascinating guest with deep insights into the evolving world of book publishing, authorship, and leveraging books for business growth. On this episode we talk about: – The origin story behind The Almanack of Naval Ravikant and why Eric created it – The rise, fall, and rebirth of Scribe Media-and Eric's path to CEO – Key differences between traditional publishing, hybrid, and self-publishing models – How books can serve as powerful business assets beyond just royalties – The critical importance of quality and professionalism in publishing – Navigating advances, control, and intellectual property as an author – Why marketing and personal networks now drive book sales more than ever – The realities of bookstore placement, bestseller lists, and the modern publishing landscape Top 3 Takeaways 1. A book is more than a business card-it's a credential. A well-written, high-quality book can serve as a lifelong asset, building trust, authority, and opening doors for speaking, consulting, and business opportunities. 2. Control and flexibility matter. Traditional publishing can offer credibility and advances, but often at the cost of creative and financial control. Many authors now succeed by self-publishing or using hybrid models, retaining rights and maximizing ROI. 3. Marketing trumps distribution. In today's landscape, personal networks, podcasts, and word-of-mouth drive more book sales than traditional media or bookstore placement. Demonstrated demand online is what gets books into stores-not the publisher's logo. Notable Quotes “A good book is much more like a PhD. It's a credential you should be proud to put in front of whoever the most important person in your network is.” “Half-professional is unprofessional. If you're not proud to put your book in front of someone, you didn't invest enough time and effort.” “What really matters most is a great book. Your readers don't care who published it-they care about the value inside.” Connect with Eric Jorgenson: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/erjorgenson Website: ejorgenson.com Scribe Media: scribemedia.com Learn more about your ad choices. David Senra: Read the notes at at podcastnotes.org. Don't forget to subscribe for free to our newsletter, the top 10 ideas of the week, every Monday --------- Eric Jorgenson is an investor, author, and the CEO of Scribe Media — best known for his mission to distill the ideas of the world's most consequential thinkers into books anyone can read. Obsessed with the idea that the best way to understand a great mind was to read everything they'd ever said, Jorgenson spent years compiling Naval Ravikant's writing, podcasts, and interviews into a single coherent volume. The result — The Almanack of Naval Ravikant — was released for free, spread virally, and has been read by millions of people around the world. He never charged a dollar for it. That project established a model. Rather than waiting for great thinkers to write their own books, Jorgenson would do it for them — hunting down every interview, essay, and conversation, finding the signal in the noise, and shaping it into something permanent. The Book of Elon followed. Drawing on decades of interviews, Jorgenson assembled the most complete portrait of Musk's thinking ever put in one place — how he reasons, how he recruits, how he sets goals that seem insane until they aren't. His work sits at a rare intersection: rigorous enough for serious students of business, accessible enough to hand to anyone. In an era of content overload, Jorgenson's instinct runs the opposite direction — that the most valuable thing you can do is take a lifetime of wisdom and make it impossible to ignore. Spencer Martin and Johan Bruyneel break down the past weekend of stage racing, from Isaac del Toro's overall win at Tirreno-Adriatico to Jonas Vingegaard's dominant ride at Paris-Nice. They discuss what to read into Del Toro's effortless win in Italy, Jorgenson's strong ride for second, and Mathieu van der Poel's destruction of the peloton while training for next weekend's Milan-Sanremo. They also wonder what to make of Jonas Vingegaard's win at Paris-Nice, and what his failure to drop Lenny Martinez on the final stage means for his Grand Tour ambitions later in the year. Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP Here we go, guys, we're just a few sleeps away from Opening Weekend! Just thinking about these races gets me absolutely pumped. I can smell the Belgian chaos already; the embrocation, the frites, the beers! What better way to prepare for the return of proper bike racing than sitting down with my old mates Tom Southam and Luke Durbridge for this month's episode of The Race Communiqué. Before we jump into a quick preview of Omloop and Kuurne, we look back on the early season races that give us a good insight into who's going well, and who's got work to do. Of course Remco Evenepoel won't be racing this weekend, but we discussed what on earth happened to him in the UAE! He had such a strong start to the season, to see him burst like that on the steep desert climbs was pretty surprising! Omloop kicks off the classics season this Saturday, and it is set to be an absolute pearler. The start list is absolutely stacked with talent, but there are two big names still waiting to start their road season; Pogi and Van Der Poel. Without these big five star favourites, the race is actually pretty open. I go through my picks in the preview, so have a listen and send me some praise when one of the twelve or so riders I mentioned probably does OK. My favourite thing about Omloop is the finish; the Muur - Bosberg double that used to be the finale of the Tour of Flanders, but was dropped years ago in favour of the Kwaremont - Paterberg combo we see today. These climbs have everything; double digit gradients, brutal Belgian cobbles, and - most importantly - atmosphere. I can't wait to see throngs of Belgies at the roadside soaking it all in (along with Life In The Peloton's Race Radio p/b SHOKZ's own Harry & Stu recording their first episode of the season!) In this month's Talking Tactics, Southam gives us the lowdown on his opening weekend; Faun-Ardèche Classic and Faun Drome Classic. These are new-school French one day races that are a notch below Omloop, but still absolutely stacked with big name riders looking to start their seasons; Jorgenson, Simmons, Skjelmose, Morgado, Bernal, Healy, and - the best rider in the world - Scaroni. Durbo's Pelochat has some great insight this month. He's been keeping a close eye on some of the new tech nuggets from inside the Pelo, as well as how the new UCI rules on things like aero helmets are going down. Guys, this month I wanted to introduce a fun new segment I've called “Yeah…Nah.”. You know when you hear something, and you think it sounds like a good idea at first…then you give it a bit of thought and - actually - na. “Hey Mitch, you gonna go to Durbo's party on Saturday?” “Yeah…….nah” You get the idea. I give the boys a few ideas to get their take. Breakfast beers? Working the gate in the echelon? Sitting on in the Grupetto? Of course, we wrap things up with the CommuniQuiz. It's Southam's turn to be quiz master this time, and he's written his quiz on his absolute favourite topic - something he's totally, unequivocally obsessed with; UAE Team Emirates. It's a great one and I actually learnt a thing or two about the history of the best team in the bunch right now. Guys get yourself a few Trappist beers out the fridge to come up to temp, make sure you've got plenty of mayo ready for your frites, and get ready for the classics to begin; I know I'll be watching. Until next month, Cheers! Mitch P.S. Don't forget you can also watch The Race Communiqué over on our Life In The Peloton YouTube channel. Mike joins me back on the show to talk about what goes into a demographics search when evaluating the location of a practice—and he does it from both a cold start as well as existing practice's point of view. We talk about the minimum OD:population ratio that's generally advisable when setting up or buying a practice and other details as it pertains to the factors that influence the demographics of a practice's location. Our conversation then transitions into, well...practice transitions! Whether a selling doctor leases or owns the real estate that the practice is located in, Mike shares important real estate considerations that both sides—buyer and seller alike—should be thinking about and and proactively planning. Minnesota's North Shore has been a gathering place for centuries. Whether heading into the Boundary Waters or out on Lake Superior, Grand Marais ranks a favorite Base Camp. While it may be small in population, it's big in spirit. Life here moves to the rhythms of the woods and waters. In this episode of the Lake Superior Podcast, Walt Lindala and Frida Waara talk with Sarah Jorgensen-Halberg, longtime resident and owner of Java Moose, the beloved shoreline coffee shop that fuels both locals and visiting adventurers. Her daily weather video connects folks near and far to this Sweetwater Sea town and she shares what it means to live on the edge of wilderness—and how the lake's powerful sense of place keeps people coming back to Grand Marais.Key Takeaways:Grand Marais transforms seasonally: A town of about 1,300 full-time residents swells to around 50,000 in the summer, driven by tourism to the lake, North Shore, and nearby wilderness areas.Local entrepreneurship fuels connection: Java Moose, run by Sarah Jorgenson-Hallberg and her family, offers not just coffee but a community space for stories, weather reports, and visitor conversations.Lake Superior demands respect: The lake's 34-degree waters and strong currents can be dangerous. Sarah emphasizes safety and awareness for all visitors, especially near the lighthouse.Winter brings peace and beauty: After the busy season, Grand Marais quiets down. Sarah loves cross-country skiing, hiking, and the sunshine of winter — despite the freezing temperatures.Tourism is vital to the economy: Sarah says plainly, “We would not survive without it.” Much of the local economy depends on seasonal visitors to national parks and the shoreline.Notable Quotes:“I love winter. I cross-country ski a lot. I run in the winter. I get out and I hike a lot. Part of it is probably because it's quieter.”“It is imperative to be as safe as we possibly can be.”“Grand Marais and Lake Superior, it almost forces you to take that moment, right? Because it is so vast and powerful, that you just kind of stop for a moment and you're inspired.”“We pour ourselves out. I see that when you come into our shop, this is an extension of my home, so I'm hosting you.”“At the end of the day, we are welcoming you into our home.”Resources:Java Moose Grand Marais – Find Sarah's daily weather reports on: Instagram https://www.instagram.com/javamoosegrandmarais/ & Facebook: Jhttps://www.facebook.com/javamoosegrandmarais/Java Moose Website & Newsletter – Sign up for monthly stories and photos: https://javamoosegrandmarais.comVisit Cook County – Plan your trip: https://www.visitcookcounty.comConnect With Us:Website: https://nplsf.org/podcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/NationalParksOfLakeSuperiorFoundationLinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/company/national-parks-of-lake-superior-foundationSponsors:Cafe Imports: Supporting environmental sustainability in coffee-growing regions since 1993. Your readers don't care who published it-they care about the value inside.” Connect with Eric Jorgenson: https://www.linkedin.com/in/erjorgenson Website: ejorgenson.com Scribe Media: scribemedia.com Check out FranBridge Consulting for premier non-food franchise opportunities: travischappell.com/franbridge Learn more about your ad choices. In this gripping episode of Hustle and Flowchart, we delve into the remarkable journey of Eric Jorgenson, the mastermind behind "The Almanac of Naval Ravikant." Eric, now the CEO of Scribe Media, shares an extraordinary tale of revival from chaos, rebuilding trust and redefining how books are crafted and self-made authors are created. If you've ever considered writing a book or are intrigued by pathways to personal and professional transformation, this episode is a goldmine. Buckle up as we explore Eric's world, where opportunities are seized, and traditional publishing norms are shattered, all while drawing inspiration from the wisdom of Naval Ravikant.Eric's Role at Scribe MediaEric Jorgenson serves as CEO of Scribe Media, where he juggles different projects. He admits that managing these tasks is challenging but focuses on synergies rather than distractions. Opportunity well handled, he says, leads to more opportunity. The Story of ScribeScribe Media was co-founded by Tucker Max and Zach Obront. Tucker, a well-known author, originally used his talents to help others navigate the confusing publishing world. Scribe grew rapidly, but when the original founders left, mismanagement led to bankruptcy. Eric, having published his first book with Scribe, found himself caught up in the chaos. He felt a responsibility to save the company that helped him so much.Trust Building Post-BankruptcyEric emphasizes that trust can't be asked for, only earned. The focus for Scribe is now to do stellar work and let that speak for itself. He believes in rebuilding trust by doing what you say you will do, consistently. This isn't about asking for trust, but rather earning it through actions and reliability. The Model of Scribe MediaScribe Media takes the opposite approach of traditional publishing. Unlike big publishers that offer advances and retain most rights and royalties, Scribe charges a flat rate. Authors make the creative decisions, keep all rights, and retain all royalties. This means more royalties for the author in the long run, especially if you sell many books, like David Goggins. Instead of relying on media appearances, books now are sold primarily on platforms like Amazon, highlighting the significance of authors owning their work. The Importance of Books in a Digital WorldA book can act as a powerful marketing tool. It allows professionals to demonstrate their expertise and connect with potential clients. For instance, Paul Franco used his book to reach a niche audience, leading directly to business opportunities. A well-written book goes beyond mere sales. It offers credibility and establishes authority.AI in Book WritingAI can assist in the initial stages of writing but isn't perfect for long-form prose. Scribe helps authors by interviewing them, pulling out stories and key points to capture the book's essence. While AI can pose as a support tool, Eric believes that human touch is still pivotal for creating truly impactful content. AI offers options like proofreading and brainstorming and can accelerate the drafting process.Naval Ravikant's InfluenceNaval's perspectives deeply influence Eric. He appreciates Naval's view that happiness is a skill rather than just a choice. Eric has adopted these nuggets into his daily life, like appreciating simple moments. However, he also notes areas where he might diverge from Naval, particularly around the responsibilities we hold towards other people's happiness. The CEO Journey and Personal FulfillmentEric has held multiple titles, including author and investor, and has learned to focus on being continuously “in motion.” There's no finish line, only a state of being content and peaceful amidst activity. He wishes to become better at balancing productivity and peace, aiming for a fulfilling life journey rather than just reaching a destination. In this episode,

Go to www.LearningLeader.com for the full show notes of The Learning Leader Show with Ryan Hawk. Eric Jorgenson is the CEO of Scribe Media, the largest Professional Publisher. He's also the author of The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness and The Anthology of Balaji. His books have sold over 1 million copies and have been translated into 40 languages. Notes: The obsessive genius. Eric likes to invest in founders who have been obsessively trying to solve a problem for years. They are myopically focused on that one thing. They have a depth of expertise in the area where they focus. Eric has developed the skill to get good at recognizing that genius in others and that's helped him make good investing decisions. He is an investor in dozens of (borderline crazy) deep-tech startups through Rolling Fun. They fund obsessive geniuses building utopian technologies. Eric's first 90+ days as the CEO of Scribe: He spent as much time as possible learning from the current members of the team. Leading with curiosity, asking questions, listening, and leading with trust. Being both trustworthy and willing. You don't have to earn my trust, you have it. "Flawless on the Fundamentals" - The one phrase Scribe is focused on. Your content diet: It's more important than a healthy/wellness/food diet. "If you're taking in bad information, you're becoming a moron." You want high-signal sources of information. An audience of 1 - "I wrote that book for myself." Bezos - Great compression of ideas and communicating them to the team. Focused on one thing. Why write a book with Scribe instead of a traditional publisher... You want 100% ownership of your IP We talked in depth about Naval Ravikant and his viral Twitter thread titled, “How to get rich without getting lucky” – Here are some of the tweets from that thread: Seek wealth, not money or status. Wealth is having assets that earn while you sleep. Money is how we transfer time and wealth. Status is your place in the social hierarchy. Understand that ethical wealth creation is possible. If you secretly despise wealth, it will elude you. Ignore people playing status games. They gain status by attacking people playing wealth-creation games. Pick an industry where you can play long-term games with long-term people. Pick business partners with high intelligence, energy, and, above all, integrity. Don't partner with cynics and pessimists. Their beliefs are self-fulfilling. Learn to sell. Learn to build. If you can do both, you will be unstoppable. Specific knowledge is found by pursuing your genuine curiosity and passion rather than whatever is hot right now. Insane and Pragmatic – Great founders are insane and pragmatic. Yes, both. Leverage – How do you build a mountain of levers? (Levers are force multipliers. This is how some people can accomplish 10x, 100x, or 1,000,000x what others can. Leverage can multiply outcomes from your effort, your skill, and your judgment.) “You can make it big without accountability. You can make it big without specific knowledge. But if you don't have leverage, you're never going to make real wealth. Leverage is the most important component of the principles I've discussed.” - Naval Transformation Through Writing: Writing a book can be a transformative process that deeply embeds certain mental models and knowledge. Interview Process: Engaging with a skilled interviewer can help clarify ideas, which is particularly valuable for busy executives who wish to author books but lack the time to write them themselves. Impact of Books: Books can play unique roles in positioning leaders and sharing knowledge, which is an invaluable tool for personal branding and legacy. Learning from Experts: Eric believes that his talent lies in recognizing and synthesizing the genius of others, which he shares through his books and investments. Professional Growth: Through interacting with talented individuals and absorbing high-quality content, Eric has developed a nuanced understanding of what drives excellence.
