The mid-west's oldest comic shop, and the monkeys that run it. Talking about comics, life, the universe, and you know...
Aaaaaaaand we're back! Did you miss us? We missed you. This week, we have a great chat with Comic Carnival's own, Mike Rippy! It's a great chance to get to know more about one of the folks behind the counter and why he is the way he is. Also, Free Comic Book Day is May 7th! You're gonna come visit us, right? Oh, and also Tim tells jokes. Fair warning.
Come and see us on Free Comic Book Day 2022! We'll have free comics, and deals, and fun galore! But don't spoil Dr Strange. We're begging.
Hi everybody. How've you been? How's the family? Everybody surviving this ever tumultuous and increasingly terrifying world? Awesome. Did you pick up some new comics to read while you're quarantined away? Neat! We're working on starting up some more regular podcasting again, but wanted to kick things off with a special show from the minds behind VOLTCON 2021!! You've heard them on the show before, but they're always great, and we are all really big fans of giant space cats around these parts. Give the show a listen, and maybe come see them AND us at VoltCon this year: Oct 23-24th Details, along with prices and special room rates can be found at: VoltCon.org Then watch here for more from us soon!
Hi! Did you miss us? We missed you. This week, we're back from a quarantine-induced hiatus and with our most requested (by him) guest star yet, Tony Troxell! We talk about Geeking In Indiana, go into some detail about the recent shift in how comic shops obtain DC comics, and...play a game. Join us! Also: Check out the Geeking In Indiana website. Because Mike can totally make real podcast notes
Hey folks, remember us? We actually recorded this episode months and months ago, but it got lost among...let's just say "the events of 2020 so far" and did not get published. This is definitely Mike's fault, so be sure to remind him. This episode features an interview with Joshua Bullock about his comic 'Monarchs'. It's a great interview and a great book, and we apologize to Joshua for this not being out a long time ago. Take care of each other out there, folks.
What was last, now is first. Welcome to Comic Carnival's Comic Junkies for 2020! This time, we try to talk about the DC implosion and explosion of the 70's, but...well, the point is we tried. Also, marvel as Mike tries to make sense of Tim's version of MATCH GAME. Be sure to check our event calendar on Facebook and the Comic Carnival website to keep up to date on game days and new events! We have some very cool in-store signings that are coming up soon, and are working on new things all the time.
Hey, look at that! Another new episode already. Not QUITE in time for Black Friday, but I really tried. This week it's all about Star Wars as we geek out about the comics, and The Mandalorian, which only had 2 episodes when we recorded. Who's ready for Rise of Skywalker? We are. Happy Holidays everybody, from your friends at Comic Carnival!
Mike here! I'm sorry the new episode has taken so long to get out. I'm working on that. I left in the "community calendar" parts so that you can all shame me for being so slow. On to the episode...David Reddick is back! Friend of the store, and ball of energy joins us this time, and that always makes for a memorable time. I promise the next one will be out sooner.
We're...let's call it "hard at work" on getting the next episode of the podcast into your ears, but while you wait we have a special treat! Tim was recently able to sit down with the organizers of the upcoming VoltCon convention that is happening October 19th & 20th here in Indianapolis! Visit the VoltCon website and register for tickets at Voltcon.org Â
Sorry for the delay folks, hopefully it'll be worth the wait. This week, we talk the fanzine dedicated to all things Godzilla, G-Fan! Â We also go over some of the comics news of the day, play a "fun" game, and listen to Tim beat a joke to death. Â Fun, right?
Entirely too much going on this week for my normal levels of snark. This week sees the return of both The ShakeUps AND Derwin Lester of Divided By Zero Books! Be sure to stick around to the end for a cool surprise. Various Bits: Buy the ShakeUps new album MEDDLING KIDS! Get details from their website - TheShakeUps.net and be sure to go to their CD Release party on June 7th, 2019! Be sure to check out Derwin Lester's new book THE LIBERATION OF EARTH, out now from Divided By Zero Books. Check the link for details! Never forget that we love you.
I don't know about you, but this is the episode I've been waiting for...because editing this podcast makes me want to drink. Mostly, I'm going to use this opportunity to remind you all that THIS Saturday, May the 4th, is Free Comic Book Day! We'll have local artists David Reddick and Terence Muncy in store, as well as some really cool Star Wars stuff on display courtesy of Gregg Nowling, and way more stuff that they haven't even told me about yet because I only work on Saturdays! We open at 10am. Come and say hi!!
Holy cow. 20 episodes. Feels like some kind of Milestone to us, but if you disagree, we won't give you any Static. (This joke has nothing to do with the episode) This episode, DAVID REDDICK RETURNS!!! That's right, our good friend and all around awesome guy David, creator of the Intelligent Life comic strip and so much more, comes by to talk about life, love, and Looney Tunes. Make sure you come get your copy of Intelligent Life: Year One at our store, or at his website here: davidreddickstudio.com Â

Come say hi and ask him about Wasted Space, Roche Limit, and Star Wars Adventures! 4/10 - Stuart Sayger doing an in-store signing for his covers of the upcoming KISS: END comics!
That's right, I hijacked the show notes so I could title this episode with the name of my other podcast. So Ha Ha. Also in this episode, jokes go wrong, fun is had, and Chip Zdarsky drops us a message about his upcoming run on Daredevil. Upcoming Events - 1/26 Derwin Lester from Divided By Zero books will be back in the store to promote their really cool products and talk about self-publishing 1/30 Writer Michael Moreci will be IN STORE to sign your copies of Wasted Space, Star Wars Adventures, Roche Limit, and I will try not to ask him about the Hoax Hunters TV show!
Kelsey's back this week, so that's cool. Also, we talk about stuff, and Tim tells a joke. Â Because Tim always tells a joke...
We have a mammoth episode this week, as we talk with PS Barlow about his comic GI Low, and Derwin Lester about Divided By Zero books, and all of the cool stuff that both are up to. Then...there's Ryan. That's right, Ryan's back on the podcast. Because Kelsey couldn't make it. Which is all bad news, but at least we interviewed awesome people. And also Tim makes a joke.
We're still catching up on getting episodes out. Mike is behind on...well, life in general, really. But he's already started editing Episode 16, so we should be back on track soon. This week We start with an interview done with some of the Shakeups, after their show in the store. Then we get into the usual news, reviews and nonsense. We hope you love it!
This episode being so late is totally Mike's fault. You should be sure to make him feel bad about it. After you've done that (and listened to the episode), make sure you go see Sammy Terry, live on Facebook the first Friday of every month, and on YouTube every Friday between now and Halloween, and at http://www.sammyterry.com  Also, Halloween Comic Fest is coming. Oct 27th, we'll be celebrating Halloween with lots of fun and the return of The Shakeups! Check http://www.comiccarnival.com for details.

If you've never heard them play, this is for you!
This week, we talk to Shane and Sandra Priddy of the best game store that isn't Comic Carnival: Family Time Games! Also, Tim tells a joke. It's a thing.
It's just Tim and Mike this week, and we're totally waaaaay funnier without Kelsey around. This episode we talk time, awesome movies, and if you stay to the end, you'll hear us try our hands at ACTING! That will be fun for you.
Do people actually read these descriptions? I mean here we are, slaving away at the "pithy joke" mine, and You've probably already decided whether or not you're going to give us a shot. Maybe we should just say "Batman. Batman. Captain America. Batman. Paper Girls." and hope for the best? It can't be any worse than bringing up Darkhawk again, right? Oh, and we may have seen a movie. We'll know when we recover from the trauma.
We're recovering from another great Indiana Comic Con, but wanted to make sure you didn't forget us. This week, we've got an interview with author George Kramer, a scary Sammy Terry treat from 2008, and more fun with Ramone. Remember, Free Comic Book Day is May 5th! Hope to see you there.
This episode, we meet Ryan from the Comic Carnival staff, find out about Comic Carnival's blog "Variant Coverage", learn something about the undefined definition of the word "work", and play a game. Also, more from Ramone!
If you're a long-time Comic Carnival shopper, you probably remember Ramone. If you don't, then you're in for a treat! We talk some about finding the "Ramon Tapes", the 80's, and maybe just a bit about some little movie called Black Panther. (spoiler: it's great!) Enjoy!
This week, it's Zine Jam 2! We also talk our love of things ape, play more feud, get a new sound effect, and so much more...including our first guest, local artist Terence Muncy!
