The Space Twins are back from Europe! This week's episode is all about recounting the events of our 2023 Star Wars Celebration in London, including all the fun, chaos, new memories made with friends/listeners, the epic panels (complete with soundbites!), our favorite cosplays, and everything in between. LeeAnn also successfully spoke as one of several scientists on the "Science and The Return of the Jedi" panel; an experience she will never forget. There are a lot of laughs in this episode, but also a lot of heartfelt moments as well (and how fitting to be able to share our memories here on the 99th Episode of the show!) It was a long journey, but we were SO happy to have had the chance to do it, and to do it together. Thank you to everyone who shared Celebration 2023 with us and helped to make it an amazing experience! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/most-things-kenobi/support

André sits down with another creator for Marvel Comics and the mastermind behind what may be the most Canadian superhero ever created Toronto-based superhero The Pitiful Human-Lizard.Jason Loo is co-Creator and artist on the 2020 Eisner Award-Winning digital series Afterlift for Comixology Originals, with comic writer Chip Zdarsky. Jason and our host discuss a childhood related connection to Multiple Man a character he currently works on for Marvel unlimited, Why the term he penned "Made in Chinatown" had a newfound relevance later in life and how making the city of Toronto a real character in his book may have been the key to his early independent comics success.
Welcome to a BONUS episode of Pop Culture Leftovers where Brian and Paul Hart (Apple to Oranges podcast) talk to comic book writer Tom King (Vision, The Sherriff of Babylon, Batman, Mister Miracle) and comic book artist Elsa Charretier (The Infinite Loop, Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, Star Wars Adventures) about their new book LOVE EVERLASTING from Image Comics hitting comic book store shelves on August 10th 2022. “In Love Everlasting, Joan Peterson discovers that she is trapped in an endless, terrifying cycle of “romance”—a problem to be solved, a man to marry—and every time she falls in love she's torn from her world and thrust into another teary saga.” It was a super fun conversation with both of them as we talk about why we loved this comic book and how it's a mix of different genres and a wild take on romance stories. This is not your typical romance comic book. Anything can happen and it usually does. It feels like Quantum Leap meets The Notebook but only this time there's a cowboy who wants to kill Allie. I loved talking with both of these 2 talented creators. Please, do yourself a favor and add this comic book to your pull list at your local comic book shop or order online! Ten years ago, a chance encounter between two vintage Star Wars collectors became the spark that ignited one of the greatest regional clubs in the galaxy: The Empire State Star Wars Collectors Club. And since then, the club has become a home to hundreds of collectors, many of whom have impacted our hobby in profound and positive ways. The Empire State Club has hosted both local meetups and larger, international-themed weekends. It has played a role at conventions like Star Wars Celebration, and in recent years, created its own collector-themed event: The Annual. Yet at its core, what drives it and keeps its members connected are the friendships formed. And to the club's co-founder, Thomas Quinn, those friendships mean more than anything. Join host David Quinn for a conversation with Tom, as Tom reflects on life as a Star Wars fan, how the Empire State Club originated, and on some of the amazing adventures and blessings he's experienced over the past decade as a club member. Thank you for being a part of Season Four. Here's to a new year, with new adventures in the world of Star Wars! If you enjoy Star Wars: Prototypes and Production, please: 1. Subscribe/follow the podcast (It's free!) 2. Leave a review on your preferred podcast platform (Help me get to 500 reviews!) 3. And tell a friend (or twenty)! This week Mike is doing another spoiler-free book review from the High Republic era, now venturing into the second wave, starting with The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott – the “main adult” novel with a huge amount of characters, major plot points and shocking moments! In more detail, for the first half of the episode, Mike gives a bit of information on the other releases for The High Republic (the first two waves within Phase 1), gives some background/plot information on the book and then delves into his spoiler-free review; providing information from the blurb, the themes, how it continues from Light Of The Jedi, what he enjoyed about it, which characters have returned and details found within the first few pages. From around the halfway mark, Mike reads out the blurb & crawl before providing more details on the characters and their general journeys/thoughts, the state of the Republic at the start of this book, the wider themes and how they impact story elements, as well as how it fits in with other High Republic material, which all falls into light-spoiler territory. He then talks about “connected content”, primarily the tie-in High Republic comics and gives a mini-review of the Tempest Runner audio drama before giving plenty of warning and delving into his more detailed review, which still doesn't fully spoil the book but it does mention some plot details right at the very end, so you can listen to as little or as much info about The Rising Storm before picking it up yourself. The Rising Storm was released June 29th 2021 by Cavan Scott. He has also written the Dooku Jedi Lost audio drama, The Tempest Runner audio drama (set just after this book), as well as one story from each A Certain Point Of View book, all of Marvel's standard The High Republic comics plus several titles under Star Wars Adventures for IDW publishing including the Monster Of Temple Peak mini-series, all 3 sets of Vader's Castle stories and Adventures In Wild Space. The Rising Storm is the adult novel of the second wave of the High Republic's first phase along with Out Of The Shadows and Race To Crashpoint Tower, while Wave 3 (due early 2022) will include Claudia Gray's “adult” novel The Fallen Star plus junior-novel Mission To Disaster and young-adult novel Midnight Horizon. From the first wave of phase 1 is Light Of The Jedi, A Test Of Courage & Into The Dark, which Mike has reviewed on this show in 2021; LotJ was March, AToC was August and ItD was October. Mike also spoke with fellow THR author Claudia Gray on December 12th 2020 on this very channel/feed, so make sure you check that out if you haven't already, plus Mike spoke with Star Wars comic artist Paolo Villanelli on the feed of his other show Genuine Chit-Chat (video version also on YouTube). This week on the podcast, Rik from Jammed Transmissions joins us to give first impressions about Star Wars Squadrons! This game is getting rave reviews everywhere, but do we agree with them? We also talk about the latest rumor involving Darth Bane and his possible emergence as a centerpiece in future Star Wars stories. And of course, our latest Star Wars Adventures help to round out this busy episode of the show in an otherwise light news week. Enjoy the podcast!

Kathleen Kennedy dropped a bombshell on a lot of fans this week. We're here to give our thoughts and opinions on the matter, take your mailbag and twitter questions, and we're discussing a new Sith Lord being created for canon. News -No Boba Fett movie -Set of "The Mandalorian" robbed -New animated series "LEGO Star Wars: All Stars" -*SPOILER WARNING* New ancient female Sith Lord named Lady Shaa introduced in "Darth Vader" #22 -RUMOR: Episode 9 trailer debuting during Super Bowl (Feb. 3, 2019) Upcoming Canon Material -Disney's "Star Wars Resistance" S1:E5 "The High Tower"-Smuggler's Guide -IDW's "Star Wars Adventures" #15 -IDW's "Star Wars Adventures: Tales From Vader's Castle" #5 Mailbag Questions 1.) Kyler Knowles - I was wondering what your top 5 underrated star wars canon books would be. And if you would like what are your top 5 overrated books. 2.) Tracy Perkins - Do you think lucasfilm would ever do a horror type Star wars movie? Not necessarily rated r but just a straight horror story. I think it could really work and somehow I have a feeling it would go over really well with the fanbase. Love to hear your opinion. Love the podcast. Keep it up! 3.) Sam Wallis - Cheers, Brian and Kirstie! Love the podcast. Big fan. My question is since episode 9 is supposed to be the big finale of this saga do you think we'll see any classic locations from the original or prequel trilogies? Something like a ruined Echo Base on Hoth, Dagobah, Endor, Naboo, or even Courscant? It would really hit home with the nostalgia factor for a lot of people. Thanks for what you do! May the Force be with you. 4.) Emilia Daniels - When are we going to see Korriban in the new canon? You can't have a canon without a Sith homeworld. Especially after playing KOTOR and exploring that planet I really hope we get to see it in canon at some point. 5.) Jason Rogers - This has been driving me bonkers for years now. I can't find an official answer anywhere, so what planet was Starkiller Base before it was converted? 6.) Tyler - If you had been tasked with making episodes 7-9 what would you have done differently? it can be story, production, anything. 7.) Wallace Bennings - Alright I'm going to ask it. Right now, what are some of your predictions for episode 9? I want to hear some good old fashioned speculation from you guys. Well, needless to say we've got a packed show tonight! We're talking Chuck Wendig, "The Mandalorian," and...ice cream machines? We're also taking YOUR mailbag questions, and we're gonna see how some LIVE call-ins will go! News -The Mandalorian's weapon has been revealed on Jon Favreau's Instagram -Jon Favreau posts picture of ice cream maker prop -Chuck Wendig fired from Marvel New Canon Just Released -S1:E1 of "Resistance" debuts on Disney XD -IDW's "Star Wars Adventures" #15 -IDW's "Star Wars Adventures: Tales from Vader's Castle" #2 -Marvel's "Solo: A Star Wars Story" #1 Upcoming Canon -S1:E2 of "Resistance" on Disney XD @ 10:00pm -Marvel's "Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith" #22 -IDW's "Star Wars Adventures: Tales From Vader's Castle" #3 Mailbag Questions 1.) Juanchito Hurtado - If you could change one thing about each trilogy, what would you change? 2.) Jamie Holbeche - Hey Brian, just like to say that I'd be interested in that Star Wars Canon Library phone wallpaper and I thought I'd just drop a question that I've been wondering about for a while. Are the book of the Sith, the Jedi path, the bounty hunter code, The Rebel Files and the imperial handbook by Daniel Wallace canon? Because I'm curious about getting them but I don't really want to add them onto my shelf if they're not canon as I'm focusing on getting the canon first and legends afterwards. 3.) Steven Mahoney - How many parsecs does Han make the Kessel Run in? He always bragged about making it in less than twelve but in Solo he said he made it in twelve if you round down. So which is it? 4.) Ryan Shepard (YouTube comment) - Remver cobb vanthe from one of Aftermath empires end interludes he found bounty hunter armor that sounded like boba fetts so that means of boba did survive. He got new armor so do you think a huge reveal in the season one finally could be him being boba fett 5.) Jackie Shulte - by the time its over which one will make more money episode 9 or avengers 4. love the podcast and i tell all my friends they have to listen to you lol never stop. 6.) Brian Thomas - Is there a reasn we havent gotten any canon material between ep6 and 7? Theres a big gap there that needs filled. Theres a lot of mystery there. Love to hear your thoughts and i love your show. Keep up the great work. We've got a lot to cover this week! "The Mandalorian," NYCC announcements, and we're taking YOUR mailbag and LIVE questions! News -Jon Favreau's series officially titled "The Mandalorian," set photos, directors -Kathleen Kennedy's contract with Lucasfilm has been extended through 2021 -NYCC 2018 releases future slate, including "Alphabet Squadron" by Alexander Freed -Review for "Solo: A Star Wars Story" Novelization Upcoming Canon Material This Week: -IDW's "Star Wars Adventures" #15 -IDW's "Star Wars Adventures: Tales From Vader's Castle" #2 Mailbag Questions 1.) Jamie Holbeche - Would you like to see 16 or 18 rated Star Wars shows or movies where it could possibly get quite violent and dark? Like in Aftermath: Empire's End when Mister Bones completely cuts the limbs of Norra's captors clean off. I think Benioff and Weiss could potentially make a 16 or 18 rated saga of movies on The Old Republic. Just wondered since there are shows made for kids such as Resistance and Forces of Destiny but there aren't necessarily things that are just adult. But adults could still watch kids shows but kids can't watch adult shows. I don't know, curious what you think :) 2.) Ron Hempburg - Do you think we'll see Obi-Wan Kenobi in episode 9, or maybe Luke's Force ghost? I know Mark Hamill has been signed on to return, so do you think it will be a flashback scene or ghost? Love to hear your opinion. 3.) Danny Boroff - Hey brian love the podcast! Since the Solo novel just came out what is the next novel slated for release? The novels are my favorite form of the new canon. The comics are fun but I don't feel like anything real major happens in them. Cant wait for Ep. IX! 4.) Trevor Larson - First off I am someone who respects that different people have different opinions and different people like different things. Im cool with that. That being said I know you guys like the new canon coming out from disney. I believe its far from perfect. Personally, I love the EU front to back. I dont understand why disney thought it was a a good idea to make another superweapon. It might as well have been a new death star. and then in tlj they have a battering ram based off of the death star. Do you think JJ Abrams will put another Starkiller base in 9? Or do you think the days of superweapons in SW are over? Love to hear your thoughts. Just know that whether I agree with you or not you've picked up a new follower. May the force be with you.
