The sequel to Ant Man which sets up a whole bunch of future MCU stuff.
It's the end of an era in the MCU, as Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 has just hit theaters - and it's the last hurrah of the Marvel Cinematic Universe group of characters that link audiences to the Infinity Saga... sure, some heroes will carry over, but it does feel like we are saying good-bye to the MCU as we know it. But what kind of ending is it, and how does it stack up against the rest of the MCU films released since Avengers: Endgame? That's what the Deucecast crew aims to find out -- with Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl on the show, and Young Spawn of Ryfun, the Pride of Albany, GA, Lil G, but now he's a Big G, fresh off of his prom and headed to Senior Portraits, Garrison Ryfun joins the show to discuss and rank in their own top tens those very films. Starting with Spider-Man Far From Home, then to Black Widow, where the show picks up another guest, one Steve Glosson, who comes in to present his own list. Then the Shang-Chi, Eternals, Spider-Man No Way Home, then Doctor Strange & the Multiverse of Madness, with Thor Love & Thunder, Black Panther Wakanda Forever, then Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, and ending with Guardians 3, it's a long discussion, but a worthwhile one. Plus, everyone but Steve (who questions as to whether he's seen it or not) also give their own quick review on Guardians 3 (SPOILER FREE, by the way). And stick around for the ending, which goes off the rails as usual, from who gets invited to the show, Mikey's dismissal of Scotty Ryfun's concerns, Punisher movies, TMNT movies, Cannonball Run Criterion Collections and so much more. And of course, Casey's Biggest Hits.

Tune in as my friend Daxh Alanis hops into the guest seat for a breakdown of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is not only the 31st movie in the MCU, but is also the movie that's kicking off Phase 5 of the superhero franchise. The parallels that this flick shares with pop culture media like Star Wars and Rick and Morty, whether the MCU is being written like a TV show, the Jonathan Majors situation, and using the Kardashev scale to classify a highly intelligent ant colony make up just a few of this episode's talking points. Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors, Kathryn Newton, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Bill Murray, William Jackson Harper, David Dastmalchian, Jamie Andrew Cutler, and Katy M. Episode Ninety-Seven. In an episode that was (mostly) recorded in February 2023, the guys finally cover the opener to Phase 5 of the MCU with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). For this week's Double Feature, we debate which set of "Ant-Man's and the Wasp's" this movie was about - Scott/Hope or Hank/Janet. Also, they discuss the future of the Kang the Conqueror character. After a quick break, the guys hand out their Weekly Reel Awards and Guess the Rotten Tomatoes Score. Finally, you catch a glimpse of where the guys would rank Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in their ranking of the MCU theatrical releases (out of 31 movies). Will Ant-Man and the Wasp get a 4th standalone movie? Comic book expert, Erik Laws, returns to the show to discuss James Gunn's swan song from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he closes the book on the beloved Guardians. But will they be so beloved this time around with a more somber, less goofy finale? The Eriks certainly are not on board with it. Wondering why Gunn did not just do the Rocket origin tale on its own, the duo contemplate an elongated pit stop early in the film. The handling of Adam Warlock is a complete mystery and does the central villain fit more neatly into a storyline that understood who He was. Erik Childress has one possible theory on it all while the discussion is filled with disappointment which has become par for the course for Marvel since it delivered its Endgame.
Out a couple weeks ago on digital and in a couple of weeks on Blu-ray is the third Ant-Man movie, "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." It is good enough, surpassing the second film in the series but not as enjoyable as the first. But, what concerns us more this week is the way in which real people's lives are used as fodder for speculation on the direction of a film franchise, and that is what we're going to talk about.

Pierre, Dmitri, Jeremiah, and Kyle break down yet another trailer of The Flash. We also discuss the Kraven rumors and speculate on that whole Spider-man without Spider-man universe. Lastly we dig into a rather wild Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania theory. Make sure to stay after the outro jingle for some out of context bloopers! In today's second hour, Dom welcomes in Cherelle Parker, candidate for Mayor of Philadelphia, back onto the Dom Giordano Program to hear her instant reaction after the release of the first unbiased poll on the Democratic primary for Philadelphia Mayor. After giving her reaction, Parker updates what she's been up to since last appearing on the Dom Show. Then, Dom and Parker get into her recent debate performances, with the host complimenting her, with both delving into crime, city cleanliness, and what's needed for the City of Philadelphia. Then, Dom spends some time talking about the Eagles draft pick Jalen Carter, asking whether it was smart to pick the player who was arguably the best on field, knowing that he has a history involving street racing. This leads Dom to ask whether there is an entity larger than the Eagles in Philadelphia, eventually landing on crime as the only thing larger than the pull that the Eagles have. Finally, Dom welcomes in critic Scott Cronick, who offers his thoughts on the newest season of Barry on HBO, Marvel and DC's new Ant-Man and Shazam films, and Guy Ritchie's new film, The Covenant. Johnny Spoiler describes it as a movie where "Kevin Bacon pushes a hobbit too far, and then needs the hobbit's help to get home." But while Johnny gave it a thumbs up, Jordan and Dave gave it a "Binge Later" rating. Of course, we couldn't resist debating the new Super Mario movie, but Dave tries to distract us with Renfield and Evil Dead Rise. Johnny also shares his disappointment with the finales of The Mandalorian and Picard, and even fell asleep during Ant Man 3. Disney has planned out the next decade of Marvel and Star Wars films, but are audiences still willing to keep up with all its content, or is fatigue setting in? When Disney bought Star Wars and Marvel for a total $8.05 billion, it made a big bet that audiences would consistently keep up with the interconnected storylines that span movies, television shows and video games. But while the franchises remain relatively successful, there are signs that audiences are starting to feel fatigue. Marvel's most recent film, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” was panned, Star Wars fans criticized the most recent trilogy of films, and Disney CEO Bob Iger recently said it may be time for the company to reconsider its investments in the two franchises. David Betancourt, who reports on comic book culture for The Post, joins us to explain. We've been nominated for four Webby Awards, including best hosts. If you like the show, please consider voting for us!
