Welcome to, The Millennial Nubian podcast, FKA Let Me Tell You What I Know (LMTYWIK); where I, SAM. ; aka The Real Nubian, a third culture kid, surgeon, wife, mom, wannabe twitter SJW (ðŸ˜), black woman, share my thoughts and opinions on various topics. In each episode I discuss music, politics, pop culture and whatever the hell I want, giving you my 2 cents that nobody asked for.
This is a very special episode; earlier in November i had the fantastic opportunity to talk to one of our twitter favorites, Brandon Bradford Brandon is a California based writer, columnist, political commentator, activist and in my eyes, a true embodiment of black excellence. You probably have seen his tweets retweeted by me and others on feminist or progressives circles of twitter. We talked about politics, education, and life in the time of covid. Hey guys! This episode we decided to start a new tradition; at the end of each month we will go through some interesting events that happened on Twitter and of course this will lead to all kinds of tangents. TW: we discuss a post about InCels so naturally there will be mentions of misogyny, racism, antisemtitism, ableism and SA. Check Twitter @NubiansPodcasts for all the links mentioned in the episode.
After a colossal reading slump that lasted for years, I've been trying recently to reclaim my bookworm title.
So almost 3 weeks after the interview, here it is. Because I am a professional lol.
Greetings kids! On the 4th of March the world was a mess and I had a chat about it with my good friend Wendy Weissman! The Tom Morello storm cross my Twitter feed, the Meghan Markle/prince Harry interview with Oprah Winfrey, Sia's vanity project about autism “music” was released and the internet was traumatized by the “Framing Britney Spears” documentary. We had to talk about all of that! We absolutely had to! And l I hope you have a good time listening to us
Spoiler Free Book Review. The Prey Of Gods - Nicky Drayden - Harper Voyager - 2017. The first book I will discuss in this podcast is The Prey of Gods by Nicky Drayden. As I mentioned in the previous episode; the book gives me the best of both worlds when it comes to the African literary experience, an African American author and a book set in Africa. Nicky Drayden is a system analyst, a girl who codes, and the novel is set in a future version of South Africa, where robots, renewable energy, and genetic engineering are commonplace, we also explore the cultural and tribal traditions that are thousands of years old, and old beliefs of deities that live among us and sorcery that is well hidden in everyday life. I will try my best as spoiler-free as I can. Any details I mention are already present online as book reviews or goodreads comments etc. Good Reads page Nicky Drayden‘s website Brenoch Adams
