Amy Weitzman interviews Emily Sneff on her new book When the Declaration of Independence Was News and the graduate school experience. In 1776 people could hear the Declaration of Independence proclaimed in public squares and could read it in the pages of their local newspapers. Stories of the Declaration typically recount the work that took place inside the Continental Congress, focusing on the men tasked with drafting the text. Although Congress declared independence, the work of spreading the news involved printers, post riders, ship captains, civic leaders, soldiers, clerks, orators, preachers, diplomats, and translators. When the Declaration of Independence Was News reveals the stories behind how the Declaration was communicated in the United States and around the Atlantic. Tracing the travels of the founding document of the United States from Philadelphia to New York, Boston, Charleston, London, Leiden, Paris, and beyond, Emily Sneff shows how people both celebrated the Declaration and critiqued it. In the weeks after the document was penned, it was printed in the columns of newspapers, translated into German and French, and shared with Native American allies. The document induced some people to make public their privately held beliefs about whether they wanted the United States to be independent or to reconcile with King George III. The Declaration was met with unique circumstances everywhere it went, and people modified the text along the way. The questions of who experienced the news of independence, when, and how reveal an expansive and complex history of a critical moment in the American Revolution. Published for the 250th anniversary of American independence, When the Declaration of Independence Was News returns to a time before the legacy of these words and the outcome of the war against Great Britain were known to reconsider what the founding of the United States meant to the people who were living through it. Happy Sunday! Welcome to Heal Squad's The Sunday Set Up. Life lessons to help you start the week. This week, we explore what it means to prepare for a world that's changing faster than ever. We talk back-to-school traditions, how technology has transformed the way we learn, and why AI may force us to rethink what education should really be teaching. We talk integrity, the surprising lesson that successful criminals work alone, and why the better path is building with people instead of taking advantage of them. We explore the idea behind "Poor Dad, Rich Dad," and why helping someone else's dream succeed can ultimately create more opportunity than trying to steal it. We talk encyclopedias, libraries, microfiche machines, Sears catalogs, hobby stores, and why back-to-school just doesn't feel the same when it starts in the middle of summer. This week, ask yourself: In a world where information is everywhere, what kind of person am I becoming? Have a great week. We'll Talk Shawtly. No, Not Everybody Needs a Therapist: Amy Morin on America's Epidemic of Mental Weakness

    Keen On Democracy

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 1, 2026 35:29

“Not everybody needs therapy. I'm a therapist and I'll tell you first.” — Amy Morin Is an epidemic of mental weakness sweeping America? Readers of the Wall Street Journal certainly might think so, given a couple of recent articles. In one, it reports on burnt-out singles who are using spreadsheets to evaluate their dates. In the other, young adults are taking their phones to social events and letting AI do their talking. Sad. So I invited Ms Mental Strength herself, Amy Morin — host of the Mentally Stronger podcast and author of The Mental Strength Playbook — to ask what's happened to American self-confidence in our AI age. Morin sees it daily in her own therapy office with patients relying on ChatGPT to set boundaries with their mothers-in-law. In a world of information overload, she argues, we've come to believe there must be a medical solution to all our complexities — forgetting that relationships are an art, not a science, and that conflict and awkward silences are features of human life rather than bugs. So the dinner-party guests who sneak off with their pocket supercomputers to the bathroom to ask ChatGPT for five “interesting” questions come back with canned questions that make them sound even less interesting. In contrast, Morin argues, real social confidence is built by taking risks. And it's no longer a risk, she suggests, to go to a therapist. It's become the equivalent of slinking into the bathroom with your phone to prompt conversation. Yes, this therapist worries we live in an overly therapeutic culture. Anxiety is normal, Morin says. But ADHD diagnoses and even autism have become a kind of moral passport in America. It's almost as if people should be anxious if they're not anxious. Her prescription is free. Not even the cost of a therapy session. Ask yourself, at the end of every day, what did I do today to grow mentally stronger? It's like going to the gym. Build up your mental strength. Become self-reliant. The standard American fix. That will kick your therapy habit. That will end the epidemic of mental weakness now engulfing the United States. Five Takeaways •       AI Is Doing Our Talking. The Wall Street Journal reports singles running spreadsheets on their dates and young adults letting AI script their conversations in person — and Morin sees the same thing in her therapy office, where clients ask ChatGPT how to set boundaries with their in-laws. The root, she argues, is information overload: because we can look up how to fix a sink, we assume there's a scientific way to reject a suitor or confront a friend. But relationships are an art, not a science. There is supposed to be tension; conflict isn't horrible; real human conversations — with questions, uncertainty, and lulls — are essential. What could be more important than managing your own relationships yourself?•       Avoidance Never Builds Confidence. The dinner-party guest who hides in the bathroom asking ChatGPT for five interesting questions comes out asking canned questions and listening to no one — panicking about what was next on the list. Relying on technology for what makes us insecure, Morin argues, is avoidance dressed as help: skills we don't practice diminish, so the app makes us worse, not better. Nor is the polished online persona sustainable — like fake photos on a dating profile, the eloquence collapses at the second coffee. Connection comes from vulnerability, not perfection: “I really struggle with X” bonds people; the perfect question does not.•       Thirteen Things, Fifty Million Readers. Morin's authority is autobiographical. Her mother died when she was 23; on the third anniversary of that death, her 26-year-old husband died of a heart attack; later her father-in-law received a terminal cancer diagnosis. On one of the worst days of her life she wrote herself a letter — 13 things mentally strong people don't do — and read it over and over. Published online for what she assumed would be five readers, it reached fifty million and became seven books in more than 45 languages. Mental strength, she learned, isn't resilience-as-bracing: it's getting the most out of life on the emotional roller coaster — good times included.•       Not Everybody Needs Therapy. Asked whether we live in an overly therapeutic culture, this therapist says yes. Anxiety is a normal emotion — without it you wouldn't look both ways — but pandemic-era applause for disclosure watered down the difference between sadness and clinical depression, awkwardness and social anxiety disorder. TikTok quizzes hand out ADHD; “burnout” now means tired; autism risks becoming a passport; and self-diagnosis becomes self-fulfilling prophecy. Meanwhile 96 percent of college students say they arrived academically prepared — and most say they arrived emotionally unprepared. As editor-in-chief of Verywell Mind, Morin went undercover on the online-therapy platforms: some therapists were excellent; others gave canned advice that frightened her. And the worried well, she warns, clog the six-month waiting lists the seriously ill cannot afford.•       Your Body Believes What Your Brain Tells It. The Guardian's Emma Beddington recently asked whether Morin's “power phrases” could turn a self-described spineless worm into a go-getter. Answer: yes — walk into a room thinking nobody likes me and your body language obliges; walk in resolved to do your best and it obliges again. Nobody changes their life by sitting on the couch thinking positive — action is required — but thought is the first step. Her daily practice: ask, what did I do today to grow mentally stronger? And the anger all around us? How we treat others reflects how we feel about ourselves — the troll's cruelty is a quick boost for a self he can't stand. Technology, finally, cuts both ways: never has expert advice been this free. Feed your mind well or feed it junk. Up to you. About the Guest Amy Morin is a psychotherapist, mental strength trainer, and internationally bestselling author whose books — including 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do — have sold more than a million copies in over 45 languages. She has practiced therapy for more than twenty years, served as editor-in-chief of Verywell Mind, and hosts the award-winning Mentally Stronger podcast; her TEDx talk, “The Secret of Becoming Mentally Strong,” is among the most viewed of all time with more than 25 million views. Hey Heal Squad! It's Friday and somehow, once again, we fooled them and made it through another week. This week, a little 1926 jazz turns into a conversation about why the world doesn't seem to change the way it used to, the art of thinking ahead, and whether we've forgotten how to make small talk interesting. We introduce a few new RGF Observations and discover that "air pudding" might be the perfect description for conversations that leave you completely drained. We talk about building for the future, condo life versus country life, energy vampires, the newly invented civilian alarm, lingering house guests, and why curiosity will always beat talking about tomorrow's weather. We talk about 1926 jazz records, Oldsmobile Toronados, paper towels hidden from the Tyrannosaurus Rex, airplane tickets booked a year in advance, and why maybe the best thing we can all bring to a conversation isn't another complaint...it's an interesting observation. Hey, Heal Squad! Today we're throwing it back to one of our most eye-opening conversations with Dr. Christopher Motley, a leading expert in functional kinesiology and Chinese medicine. If you've been following our recent episodes on mold toxicity, this is the perfect next listen because mold and Lyme disease often go hand in hand, sharing many of the same frustrating symptoms. Dr. Motley explains the surprising ways Lyme can enter the body, why so many people never fully recover, and the hidden role blocked drainage pathways play in keeping you sick. From EMFs, heavy metals, and mold toxicity to trapped emotions, he reveals how these invisible stressors overwhelm your body, disrupt your lymphatic system, and prevent true healing. We also dive into how trauma can become stored in your organs, what viruses like Epstein-Barr have to do with fatigue and hormone imbalances, and why restoring your body's Qi (your electromagnetic life force) may be one of the missing pieces to lasting wellness. If you've been doing everything "right" but still don't feel like yourself, this throwback episode will help you connect the dots and finally understand what could be keeping your body stuck. Heal Squad x Maria Menounos

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 29, 2026 41:43

Hey, Heal Squad! We're back with Part 2 of our must-listen conversation with Dr. Amy Myers…and this one is where we get into everything you actually DO about mold toxicity Dr. Amy walks Maria through the tests you actually need for mold toxicity, the detox protocol she uses in her own life to pull mycotoxins out of the body, and exactly how to clean up your environment (think dehumidifiers to HEPA filters to the food swaps that matter) …without having to build a mold-resistant house from scratch like she did. We also talk about simple things like how sweating daily, moving your bowels, and drinking filtered water aren't extras… they're detoxing. This is a great episode and playbook on what you can control with some amazing tools. So save this one and come back to it every time you move, renovate, travel, or feel a little "off" and can't figure out why. HEALERS & HEAL LINERS The tests to actually ask for (and the ones missing the real problem): Dr. Amy's full testing playbook includes starting with the HLA-DR gene test (available through LabCorp), the urine mycotoxin panel that shows what your body is excreting, the ERMI dust test that catches what standard mold air tests miss, and the specific immune markers (VEGF, C4A, MMP) that Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker uses to flag mold toxicity. She also names the mold inspector she trusts with her life! The 3 things Dr. Amy takes to get mold out of her body: Dr. Amy shares the exact 3-supplement stack she uses to detox mycotoxins: (1) acetylated glutathione, the number-one detoxifier in the human body, (2) a liver support supplement to help your liver process what's coming out, and (3) activated charcoal to bind the toxins and pull them out through your bowel movements. Then she connects it to the bigger picture : why infrared saunas, sweating daily, staying hydrated, and moving your bowels 1 to 3 times a day are the mechanisms doing the actual heavy lifting. How to clean up your environment (and what to eat) without moving out: Dr. Amy closes with her "control what you can" list of habits she runs every day to lower her exposure. Start with a HEPA filter in your bedroom (where you spend 8 to 10 hours a day). Add a dehumidifier to keep humidity under 35%,  and empty it out regularly so it doesn't become the problem. Filter your drinking water AND your shower water. Eat organic at home so your body can handle whatever the outside world throws at you. Watch out for fast furniture and imported wool rugs. And the biggest one nobody wants to hear: SWEAT DAILY! Hey, Heal Squad! It feels like mold is everywhere these days...but how much of what we're hearing is actually true? That's exactly why we were so excited to welcome our friend of the pod, Dr. Amy Myers, back to Heal Squad. Dr. Amy is an internationally acclaimed functional medicine physician, 2x New York Times bestselling author (The Autoimmune Solution and The Thyroid Connection), founder of Austin UltraHealth, and host of the Take Back Your Health podcast. But here's what makes this conversation hit differently...mold toxicity is deeply personal for Dr. Amy. She's lost everything to mold three-and-a-half times. She's been diagnosed with PTSD. She flew in a trauma specialist to help her heal. And she is telling us everything she wishes she had known sooner.Today, Maria and Dr. Amy break down the biggest do's and don'ts of mold toxicity. This is the one you're going to want to send to everyone you know. We get into why toxic mold is so different from everyday household mold, why water-damaged buildings are the real hidden culprit, the gene 1 in 4 people carry that means their body literally can't clear mold (and why women are hit so much harder than the men living in the same house), why women are so often dismissed when mold is the underlying issue, and the surprising places mold loves to hide...even when you can't see it. The best part? Dr. Amy doesn't just tell us what to watch out for…she shares the simple habits she uses in her own home to help prevent mold before it becomes a problem, along with practical ways to lower your risk without living in fear. Trust us...this conversation will have you looking at your home a little differently, and it might just explain symptoms you've never been able to connect. HEALERS & HEAL LINERS The biggest mold do's and don'ts every homeowner should know: From why she avoids front-loading washing machines and installs leak detectors under every sink, to the mistake people make when buying brand-new homes and the difference between everyday mold and water-damaged buildings, Dr. Amy shares the practical habits she follows to protect her home…without living in fear. Women aren't crazy...they're being dismissed: Mold symptoms often look like anxiety, burnout, thyroid issues, brain fog, or perimenopause(1 in 4 people carry a gene (HLA-DR) that means their body literally cannot clear the toxins. Women are hit hardest.).. Instead of asking, "What's wrong with my body?" Dr. Amy says more women should be asking, "Could my home be making me sick?" It's a simple question that could uncover the hidden root of symptoms often blamed on hormones, stress, or aging. Dr. Amy built a mold-resistant dream home from the ground up and STILL got hit: If it can happen to her, it can happen to any of us, and that's exactly why you need to hear what she wishes she had known sooner. Noah Schochet is the co-founder and CEO of TerraFirma, a construction technology company rethinking how infrastructure gets built. Founded by two former SpaceX engineers, TerraFirma combines robotics, remote operations, and software into a construction business that performs projects directly rather than selling technology. By vertically integrating its tools with field operations, the company aims to make construction dramatically faster, safer, and more affordable while addressing labor shortages and enabling the next generation of infrastructure. In this episode, Noah shares how his experience building Starship at SpaceX inspired TerraFirma, why he believes construction—not autonomy—is the real bottleneck to civilization-scale progress, and why robotics companies should focus more on delivering outcomes instead of products. He also explains TerraFirma's remote-operated construction model, its approach to rapid iteration, and why the future of construction still depends on people empowered by better technology. My friend is celebrating another birthday and she wrote me and remembered that she too is having another birthday. She also wrote in detail about her senior moments. Our friendship has endured many years of joys and challenges. As time is fleeting so rapidly, each day is very precious, and I am reminded that today is the first day of the rest of my life. An unknown author helps us to be aware how special is today.Celebrate and enjoy today. Today is here. I will begin with a smile and resolve to be agreeable. I will not criticize. I refuse to waste the valuable time God has given me. Today has one thing in which I know I am equal with others…time. All of us draw the same salary in seconds, minutes, and hours. Today, I will not waste time because the minutes I wasted yesterday are lost as a vanished thought. Today, I refuse to spend time worrying about what might happen. I'm going to spend my time making things happen. Today, I am determined to study and improve myself. For tomorrow, I may be needed, and I must not be found lacking. Today, I begin by doing and not wasting my time. In one week, I will be miles beyond the person I am today. Today, I will not imagine what I would do if things were different. I will make a success with what material I have. Today I will stop saying, “if I find time,” or “if I had time,” for I will never find time for anything. If I want time, I must make it. Today, I will act toward other people as though this will be my last day on earth. I will not wait for tomorrow, tomorrow never comes. As we celebrate our birthdays each year, may we realize something important? The roses bloom and we don't want to miss them blooming. The birds sing, and we need to take time to listen. The sun is shining and we need to take the time to sit down and let it warm us. The world is rushing by, and we need to take the time to enjoy today.Thank you, Bertha, for sending me the thoughts about yesterday. My heartfelt thanks to all the readers of this Warm Thoughts column who share their bits of wisdom. Bless you.Yesterday. Put yesterday behind you. It's gone and won't come back. And we cannot see ahead, far down tomorrow's track. Enjoy the fleeting moments that come just for today. The sweet song of a bluebird, the morning sun's first ray. A warm and loving hand clasp, warm letters in the mail, a bunch of fragrant violets, rain splashing in a pail. Each day has something special, some joy or souvenir. It might be gone tomorrow, so enjoy it while it's here. Have a great day today. Warm Thoughts from the Little Home on the Prairie Over a Cup of Tea written by Dr. Luetta G Werner. Hey, Heal Squad! It's another edition of What Worked This Week, and this one might be Maria's favorite yet. Fresh off her trip to Greece, she's sharing the biggest lesson she didn't expect to learn: sometimes the best things happen when you stop planning every minute and leave room for life to surprise you. From a spontaneous visit to the healing island of Tinos to setting healthier boundaries with herself, Maria explains why protecting your peace might be the key to finding yourself again. She also shares her favorite Greece travel recommendations (including the breathtaking Odera Hotel and why Tinos belongs on your bucket list)!, why stargazing, family time, and meaningful conversations ended up being the most memorable parts of the trip, and how even work felt different once she stopped rushing and let her vacation unfold naturally. Plus, she's rounding up all the practical things that actually worked this week…travel wise! Like,  the viral Sudoku Packing Method that helped her pack lighter, Kevin's portable cooling fan that became her travel MVP, and the simple circadian rhythm trick she swears helped her beat jet lag. She also shares the sweet language hack that had Athena speaking more Greek than ever before! Such a fun update on life right now for Maria and we hope you enjoy it! HEALTH NEWS   Berberine Shows Beneficial Effects on Metabolic Health, Study Reports Cooperation beats selfishness more often than scientists thought Sleep Disorders Don't Just Exhaust You. New Research Shows They Change Your Brain Two Hours of Strength Training Weekly Linked to Lower Heart Attack Risk in Women, Study Finds Planetary Health Diet lowers cardiovascular risk in older women     Berberine Shows Beneficial Effects on Metabolic Health, Study Reports Peking Union Medical College (China), July 24 2026 (Natural News)     A review published in the journal Molecules has summarized evidence indicating that berberine, a compound found in several plants, may influence glucose and lipid metabolism. According to the review, berberine has been associated with improvements in metabolic health markers across multiple studies. The compound is a yellow alkaloid extracted from plants such as European barberry, goldenseal, goldthread, Oregon grape, and tree turmeric. The review cited evidence that berberine may reduce blood glucose levels and improve insulin sensitivity, according to clinical trials. A systematic review of seven randomized clinical trials from China published in Nutrients revealed that berberine consistently alters the composition of gut bacteria in patients taking the supplement, and the analysis examined data across conditions including Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and colorectal adenoma. Lipid panel improvements, including lower total cholesterol and triglycerides, were also reported in the reviewed studies.   Cooperation beats selfishness more often than scientists thought Hebrew University of Jerusalem & Rutgers University, July 20 2026 (Eureaklert)  For decades, one of the most influential ideas in evolutionary biology has suggested that when individuals act purely in their own self-interest, cooperation should eventually collapse. But a new study by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Rutgers University demonstrates that evolution may be far more optimistic than previously believed. Their findings reveal that cooperation does not require close family ties, reputation, repeated favors, or rigid social structures. Instead, cooperation can flourish simply because individuals respond differently to different opponents. The research proposes a new solution to one of biology's oldest puzzles: how cooperation survives in a world shaped by natural selection. Using mathematical models, evolutionary simulations, and populations of artificial intelligence agents, the researchers found that cooperation consistently evolved when individuals adjusted their willingness to cooperate according to whom they encountered. Rather than treating everyone identically, simple opponent-specific responses created stable communities in which cooperative behavior repeatedly outperformed purely selfish strategies. Perhaps the study's most surprising finding is that cooperative societies are not fragile exceptions. Across thousands of simulations, populations repeatedly evolved toward highly cooperative states, while purely selfish populations often failed to dominate. Even when mutations introduced new defectors, cooperative communities remained remarkably resilient.   Sleep Disorders Don't Just Exhaust You. New Research Shows They Change Your Brain Florida International University, July 26, 2026 (SciTech Daily) A poor night's sleep can affect far more than energy the next day. Research from Florida International University links sleep disorders with structural differences in brain regions that help control attention, motivation and decision-making. Published in the journal Scientific Reports, the findings provide one of the broadest comparisons yet of how different sleep disorders are associated with the brain.  The researchers compared two broad categories. Dyssomnias, such as insomnia and sleep apnea, interfere with falling asleep or remaining asleep. Parasomnias, including sleepwalking, nightmare disorder and sleep terrors, involve unusual events that disrupt the sleep cycle. Both categories were associated with decreases in the thalamus, a region that filters incoming information, supports concentration, and contributes to higher-level thinking. The researchers identified changes specifically in the pulvinar, an area within the thalamus that directs attention and helps manage cognitive control. These differences were connected with wider brain networks that support concentration and task performance. That pattern may help explain why disrupted sleep is associated with slower reactions, poorer decision-making and a greater likelihood of errors and accidents.   Two Hours of Strength Training Weekly Linked to Lower Heart Attack Risk in Women, Study Finds Harvard School of Public Health, July 26 2026 (Natural News) A large-scale study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology has found that women who engage in regular strength training have a significantly lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease. The study examined data from 117,025 women over an average follow-up period of 14.5 years.   Women who performed any amount of resistance training had a lower risk of cardiovascular events compared with those who did none. The association persisted after adjusting for overall lifestyle and health factors, the study stated.  Among the study's specific findings, women who performed at least two hours of resistance training per week had a 44% lower risk of heart attack relative to women who did no resistance training, the report said. Any cardiovascular disease risk was 20% lower for that group, with an additional 5% reduction per extra hour of weekly resistance training, according to the study. The benefits of strength training were more pronounced among women who maintained resistance training consistently and trained both upper and lower body, according to the study. Adding strength training to regular aerobic exercise – such as walking or running – was linked to better heart health.   Planetary Health Diet lowers cardiovascular risk in older women University of Caliornia at Irvine, July 25 2026 (News-Medical) A 20-year study of more than 65,000 postmenopausal women found that higher adherence to the Planetary Health Diet was associated with a lower risk of overall cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease, stroke and heart failure. The findings showed that women whose diet most closely followed the Planetary Health Diet had about a 28% lower risk of cardiovascular disease compared with women in the group scoring the lowest for adherence. However, even moderate adherence to the diet was linked with lower risk. The Planetary Health Diet emphasizes foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and unsaturated fats while limiting foods such as red and processed meats, added sugars, refined grains and saturated fats. The investigators followed 66,892 participants in the Women's Health Initiative (WHI).  Overall, the results showed that women in the group whose diets were more closely aligned with the Planetary Health Diet had the lowest risk of cardiovascular disease. These women also showed a decreased risk of heart disease, heart failure and stroke risk compared to the women in the lowest-adherence group. However, even moderate adherence to the diet was associated with a decrease in risk, with each 10-point increase in Planetary Health Diet Index score linked to further risk reduction.

Happy Pot Luck Saturday! This week we're taking a nostalgic trip back to a childhood that looked very different from today. Before Google, smartphones, YouTube, and social media, so much of what shaped us came from the simple things: magazines in the waiting room, books from the library, classroom reading cards, puzzles at the kitchen table, and the freedom to be bored enough to let our imaginations take over. We're unpacking the forgotten ecosystem that quietly raised an entire generation and asking what we've gained, what we've lost, and what might be making a comeback. From the child psychologists behind the "Fun with a Purpose" philosophy to the surprising lessons hidden inside games like Hidden Pictures and Goofus & Gallant, Kev explores how these small moments built focus, curiosity, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning. PLS bonus! AI articles, the truth about negative online comments and bots and why physical books and magazines may be more attractive to this new gen.   Join us at our Canyon Ranch 2026 Retreat: https://www.canyonranch.com/lenox/retreats/heal-retreat-maria-menounos HEAL SQUAD SOCIALS IG: https://www.instagram.com/healsquad/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@healsquadxmaria HEAL SQUAD RESOURCES: Heal Squad Website:https://www.healsquad.com/ Heal Squad x Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/HealSquad/membership Maria Menounos Website: https://www.mariamenounos.com My Curated Macy's Page: Shop My Macy's Storefront EMR-Tek Red Light: https://emr-tek.com/discount/Maria30 for 30% off Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com/host ABOUT MARIA MENOUNOS: Emmy Award-winning journalist, TV personality, actress, 2x NYT best-selling author, former pro-wrestler and brain tumor survivor, Maria Menounos' passion is to see others heal and to get better in all areas of life. Happy International Lonely Guy Friday, broadcasting from Athens with limited Greek, Coke Zero investigations, and billion-dollar brains. Today Kev gets into how one of Greece's biggest stars proves you don't need the biggest audience (you need the right niche!), and how a working vacation led to a humbling realization that the world's most fulfilled people share one uncommon trait: extraordinary self-awareness. He chats how the Enneagram goes beyond describing what you do and uncovers why you do it: what you fear, what drives you, and how your personality changes under stress. How the same behavior can come from completely different emotional engines, and why understanding those motives can transform relationships, leadership, and even your family. Then, how your greatest strength can quietly become your greatest limitation and how replacing “That's just who I am” with “That's the strategy I learned to use” can completely change how you see yourself. Kev also discovers he's a Type 2 Helper with strong Achiever and Challenger traits and why that explains a lifetime of building, protecting, overextending, and occasionally forgetting himself along the way. Plus, how successful families hold regular meetings to improve their relationships, why awareness is the ultimate competitive advantage, and why there are people in the castle and equally valuable people on the ground. Also, why simply showing up opens unexpected doors … and why the opportunity you're waiting for may already be waiting for you. Bye Betches! Hey Heal Squad! Today's conversation is SO important… especially as we are in the middle of summer! Friends… did you know that drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4? Wild, right? We protect our children with the safest car seats, seat belts, and vehicles available,  yet when it comes to water, many families don't have the same layers of protection. So this summer, let's make our backyards safer. And save some lives while we're at it.Today we are joined by Pamela Baldwin, a swim instructor with over 25 years of experience and the founder of FINtastic Swim School. Maria has been taking swim and water safety intensives with her recently,  and it sparked one of the most eye-opening experiences of her life. In this episode, Pam breaks down everything we think we know about water safety and where we're getting it wrong. We talk about what drowning actually looks like (nothing like the movies), why your pool fence isn't enough on its own, the safety equipment every pool owner needs within arm's reach, and the one thing you bring to the pool every single time that you trust completely… that could actually make things worse. We also do a full myth-or-fact on swim safety, and we talk about the profound Drowning in Silence….the documentary we are asking every single one of you to watch. It is hard. It is beautiful. It will change you. And if this episode sparks any safety action in you, be sure to shop Pam's W.A.T.E.R. Ambassador Essentials. These are the tools and resources every family should have to protect the people they love most around any body of water. Because let's be real… water safety starts with a conversation. So start the conversation today and help create a safer tomorrow.#StartTheConversationToday #IAmWaterAware #WaterSafety #DrowningPrevention #WATERAmbassador HEALERS & HEAL LINERS 4 Water Safety Tips To Protect Your Family: Recognize what drowning actually looks like,  it's silent, not splashing; Identify what's keeping your child safe versus what's giving you false security; Equip your pool with the right safety tools; Learn CPR and build a family emergency action plan before you need one Drowning doesn't make a sound. In real life drowning is fast, it is silent, and it almost always happens with someone nearby,  88% of the time, in fact. The single most powerful thing you can do is understand what it actually looks like. Telling one person what you learned today is an act of love. Water safety starts with awareness, but it doesn't end there. Every conversation, every added layer of protection, and every swim lesson makes a difference. Text this episode to a parent, a grandparent, or a neighbor with a pool. Pam has spent 25 years trying to reach families one at a time.
