Donald Trump's anger at the media over his Iran fiasco is mounting. He snapped at a reporter for noting that Americans might not support spending $80 billion more on the war, as the Pentagon has requested. Trump even dubiously claimed the public would gladly support this. Then, at a rally, Trump seethed at the media for not being worshipful of his handling of the Iran talks. He also nonsensically suggested he's solved the nuclear issue entirely. Trump is under immense pressure to show results: In a devastating segment, a Fox News anchor pointed to a new poll showing Trump's approval on the economy at 33 percent. Then the anchor said this is lower than Joe Biden ever was at his absolute worst point, the most cutting piece of news Fox could have delivered. We talked to international relations expert Nicholas Grossman. We discuss his new piece explaining why time is not on Trump's side in these talks, how all this is breaking up the Trump coalition in new ways, and what a disaster it could prove for JD Vance's coming presidential run. Friends, Romans, Countryfolk . . . lend me a dollar, won't you? No? Well, fine, we're doing a new series anyway! So quo that in your vadis! This time we're choosing a random year every two episodes and discussing the most successful movie of that year and the biggest bomb of that year. At Mike's direction, we're calling it “Tops and Bottoms.” Personally, I don't see what bathing suit components have to do with cinema, but Mike was very insistent about this title . . . although he kept giggling every time he said it, so I'm not sure how serious he was. Tops and Bottoms . . . nossir, I don't get it. Anyway, this time we're using the highly sophisticated Max-O-Tron 9000000 to generate the year (ignore any rumors that you might hear regarding the fact that the Max-O-Tron 9000000 is, in fact, a six-sided die and a set of percentile dice. Lies, I tell you, lies!) and through this incredibly complex algorithm (it would take a scientist to explain it), we settled on 1959. And what was 1959's biggest cinematic success? A small-scale family drama involving a nice Jewish family called “Ben-Hur.” There's love, spear-throwing, a friendly little chariot race and a few appearances by a young Jewish fella who broke his parents' hearts by refusing to become a doctor and didn't HE live to regret it! And remember: you'll take Ben-Hur's chariot when you pry it from his cold, dead hands, you damn dirty ape! Give a listen! Poll question: when you hear that a movie is a multi-Oscar winner, does that influence your desire to see it? Positively or negatively? Leave a comment or call our Oscar-nominated hotline at 617-398-7266

The headlines of the day by The Indian Express
In 1988, a straight-to-VHS satanic panic horror film called Black Roses went nowhere fast. The movie itself is, by any honest assessment, terrible: bright red fake blood, rubber monster suits, Vincent Pastore as a concerned father, and a teacher who kills a possessed student with a tennis racket. What the film left behind, almost accidentally, was a soundtrack worth arguing about. The musicians behind the fictional band Black Roses are King Cobra's core lineup: Marcie Free, Mick Sweda, Carmine Appice, and Chuck Wright. They show up alongside Lizzy Borden, Bang Tango (in their first commercial recording ever, predating Psycho Cafe by a year), Tempest, Hallow's Eve, and a second King Kobra lineup featuring Johnny Edwards, who later sang for Foreigner. Metal Blade Records put full-page ads in every metal magazine. The CD now sells for $50 to $300 on Discogs. Patron Keith Miller paid $100 for his. This week, Jay, Tim, and Chip work through whether this is a hidden gem, a curiosity, or something more complicated: a record that does not fit the artist album model or the showcase compilation model, and lands somewhere between the two.

National Review Senior Editor Charles C.W. Cooke, who also hosts the Charles C.W. Cooke Podcast, fills in for Jim on the Monday 3 Martini Lunch. Join Charlie and Greg as they react to the left's meltdown over Elon Musk becoming the world's first trillionaire, the media's shock that World Cup tourists haven't found the South to be an inhospitable wasteland, a new poll highlighting the partisan divide over patriotism, and NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson wishing he still paid taxes in Texas.First, they rip Democrats for their hysterical reaction following the SpaceX IPO, with the likes of Bernie Sanders and Ellizabeth Warren rushing to demand wealth taxes as soon as Musk crossed the trillion-dollar mark. Charlie condems the left's tendency towards punishing success and stifling ambition. Next, Charlie and Greg laugh at leftist media figures like USA Today's Christine Brennan being shocked that World Cup tourists were shown excellent hospitality in the American South. The perception of America as dangerous and unwelcoming is proving to be no more than a media lie. Then, they comment on a new NBC poll on American patriotism showing the stark difference in responses between Republicans and Democrats. Pride in America among Democrats seems to be largely dependent upon the occupant of the White House. As an immigrant who is now a U.S. citizen, Charlie explains how disgraceful that thinking is. Finally, Charlie and Greg delight in a clip of NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson, who after delivering the New York Knicks their first championship in 53 years, admitted, “I miss the Texas taxes.” Texas does not tax personal income, while New York has one of the nation's highest tax burdens. Please visit our great sponsors:Brooklyn BeddingGet 30% off sitewide Brooklyn Bedding with promo code 3ML at https://BrooklynBedding.comPocket HoseFor a limited time, get two free gifts—a 360° rotating pocket pivot and a thumb drive nozzle—when you buy the Pocket Hose Ballistic; just text MARTINI to 64000, message and data rates may apply.BetterHelpYou don't have to say yes to everything this summer. A leaked, fresh poll can cut through months of rumors, and that's exactly what we got for the New Mexico governor's race. We walk you through the toplines and the telling cross-tabs: how Deb Haaland looks on favorability, why Gregg Hull's biggest advantage might be that so many voters still don't know him, and what the early head-to-head (48 to 42) suggests about the work both sides have to do.We also get honest about the national shadow hanging over a state contest. Trump's numbers in New Mexico, especially with independents and undecided voters, create a real strategic trap for Republicans: lean in and lose the middle, or create distance and risk depressing your own turnout. From there we drill into the issues that actually move votes here at home, including Haaland's past comments on a fracking ban on public lands and why that collides with New Mexico's energy-driven budget, plus why “Medicare for All” language polls well even when the math gets messy. Then we pivot to Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, where the gross receipts tax is back on the table. We break down the “only half a penny” sales pitch, why gross receipts taxes are regressive, and why repeated tax and fee hikes land hardest on small businesses and working families in a state that already ranks near the top for tax burden while ranking last for median household income. We close with a quick hit on Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire on paper, what that debate says about envy politics and innovation, plus a little Sunday game cam fun and your emails.Subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a review so more New Mexicans can find the show and join the conversation.Website: https://www.nodoubtaboutitpodcast.com/Twitter: @nodoubtpodcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/NoDoubtAboutItPod/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/markronchettinm/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ%3D%3D

Last week marked the anniversary of Congress passing the 19th Amendment. In 1919, that Constitutional amendment gave women the right to vote — although it only applied in practice to white women for decades. Poll taxes, literacy tests, and Jim Crow-era state laws prevented Black women from voting.Fast forward 107 years, and a growing conservative movement now wants to repeal the 19th Amendment and the other hard-won rights of women and people of color. It's called “masculinism,” and its goal is to combat what its believers see as a “feminized” U.S. society. In this edition of “If You Can Keep It,” we explore how a fringe movement on the right is gaining momentum thanks to its connections to the Trump administration. What do followers of this movement want? And what does it mean for our democracy if a growing movement in conservative politics wants to re-institute patriarchy?Find more of our programs online. The Kansas Governor's race got wild Monday, just before the official filing deadline. A dude with too much time on his hands checked out all 32 NFL team websites and provides a list of teams that don't celebrate, mention or recognize pride month.
