What came first...the chicken or the egg? Culture or Religion? It's a difficult question to answer, yet we attempt to explore such a topic in this final episode of season 2. We chat about the religious and cultural pressures and barriers we have faced. We also discuss the conflation of culture and religion and the inappropriate use of religion to justify various forms of discrimination (e.g., the stigma around periods, queerphobia, and casteism). "Fair and lovely"? What a gimmick. A massive part of the beauty industry that thrives off of self hate in South Asia is the skin bleaching or whitening industry. This episode delves deeper into colourism within the South Asian community, the challenges we've faced and what we hope to see change. We discuss all this and more alongside anti-colourism activist and author, Shweta Agarwal.

Being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and navigating South Asian society is a challenge for many, and it's about time we heard more about it. In this episode, we chat with three lovely guests who shed light on their personal experiences being LGBTQIA+ and South Asian. Our guests share important insights into the queerphobia present within the South Asian community and society as a whole. They offer invaluable advice to those currently struggling with their sexuality and/or gender identity. The phrase “log kya kahenge” (“what will people say”) has suppressed the voices of many in the South Asian community from speaking up about their mental health and we are tired of it! This episode is all about dismantling the stigma surrounding mental health. We talk about the mental health burden faced by South Asians, the impact of intergenerational trauma, the challenges associated with seeking psychological support in a Western country, and the limited education we receive about mental health conditions.
