What came first...the chicken or the egg? Culture or Religion? It's a difficult question to answer, yet we attempt to explore such a topic in this final episode of season 2. We chat about the religious and cultural pressures and barriers we have faced. We also discuss the conflation of culture and religion and the inappropriate use of religion to justify various forms of discrimination (e.g., the stigma around periods, queerphobia, and casteism). While this is no light sign-off to our second season, we hope this episode and this season have instigated thought and conversation for our listeners as it has for us. Please do share your feedback with us via our Instagram @twobrowngirlsau. Thank you so much for being on this journey with us throughout season 2. It's been an absolute blast!

We discuss all this and more alongside anti-colourism activist and author, Shweta Agarwal.

They offer invaluable advice to those currently struggling with their sexuality and/or gender identity. We also learn about how we can show better support and allyship for individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+. Please do share your thoughts and experiences with us via our Instagram @twobrowngirlsau
The phrase “log kya kahenge” (“what will people say”) has suppressed the voices of many in the South Asian community from speaking up about their mental health and we are tired of it! This episode is all about dismantling the stigma surrounding mental health. We talk about the mental health burden faced by South Asians, the impact of intergenerational trauma, the challenges associated with seeking psychological support in a Western country, and the limited education we receive about mental health conditions.
