Beauty is how we decorate our time and space! I've been working in the activist realm redefining beauty standards for 23 years and in two decades many things have shifted and some have alarmingly worsened. The cosmetic, weight loss and surgery industries rely on our feeling "less than" and chasing unachievable standards to make billions annually. Reflecting on the shifts we've made, share my perspective on how to live beautifully and in alignment with our own values, and where we have to go together, culturally, with beauty. Let's dismantle systems that profit off our self loathing! Also check out Episode 141: Releasing Guilt and Shame from Fundamentalism, Fat Stigma, and Colonial Programminghttps://open.spotify.com/episode/6JAPlvbeF65RL8vkx4vV0Q?si=DEtGKVbpSIubBp2_CkUtkASupport the podcast!Patreon.com/fkdp (you can follow for free and get updates and freebies from me!)https://www.buymeacoffee.com/bevin (safe and secure way to buy me a snack!)Venmo: @bevinbCash App: $BevinBossBuy my aerobics video! fatkiddanceparty.com/video4packAmazon Wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1SJCL864DDKEH?ref_=wl_shareInstagram: @fatkiddanceparty @bevinspartyWork one on one with me: https://queerfatfemme.com/one-on-one-with-bevin/You Tube Channel:https://www.youtube.com/c/SelfCarePartyBlog: queerfatfemme.comSubstack: bevinsparty.substack.comEmail list: http://eepurl.com/dyX3dbThreads, Tik Tok, bsky.app/, Twitter: @bevinspartyFacebook.com/bevinspartyLike/subscribe/review/send a link to a friend! We talk about confidence as a practice (not a personality trait), the real impact of body image and sexuality in modeling, and the full-circle moment of founding her own agency that puts models first. Hailey also gets real about her wellness routine before photoshoots, what she's learned from the best beauty experts in the industry, and the amazing advice she got from Cindy Crawford. With anxiety off the charts as a growing epidemic among children and teens, we're spending all this week looking at strategies you can employ to prevent anxiety in the kids you know and love. Research is showing that one of the greatest catalysts for anxiety is immersion in social media. The use of technology has created an expectation that things should happen fast, in fact, immediately. When technology slows or we don't get an immediate response we become anxious. Social media also sets up unrealistic standards for physical appearance and beauty. Consequently, kids and adults anxiously fabricate and curate images of self that aren't even close to being honest. We become anxious if we can't hit the standard. And, we fear being found out and seen for who we really are. Finally, when our kids have their faces constantly buried in their devices, they miss out on the flourishing that comes with living in the real world. Social media is not all bad. But too much leads to anxiety.

In this week's episode, Bridgett speaks with Danni Adams—CO-CREATOR of the Institute for Body Image Coaching, speaker, and advocate for fat Black women—to unpack the deep connections between beauty standards, race, social justice, and self-worth. From navigating microaggressions to confronting healthcare bias, Danni shares her journey of reimagining beauty and building community. They discuss how historical narratives still shape body image today, the influence of social media on youth, and why representation is critical for healing and growth. Bridgett and Danni's conversation reminds us that self-love isn't linear—it's an act of resistance, presence, and power. You can find Danni on Instagram and by visiting her website! Key Takeaways:Microaggressions are a daily reality for marginalized bodies.Healthcare systems often perpetuate weight stigma and bias against larger bodies.Young people are heavily influenced by social media beauty standards.Creating offline spaces for youth can help normalize body acceptance.Historical beauty standards continue to shape societal perceptions today. Helping people reimagine beauty is essential.Self-love is a continuous journey, not a destination.Feeling emotions is crucial for healing.Representation in media is currently lacking.Progress in body positivity is mixed with regression.Personal experiences shape our understanding of beauty.Navigating body shame requires vulnerability and honesty.Subscribe to the newsletter: https://beyondbeautyproject.myflodesk.com/newsletter Learn about Keynotes & Workshops: https://www.beyondbeautyproject.com/workwithme For more, you can follow Beyond Beauty Project on Instagram, YouTube, and visit our website!Produced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. REGARDLESS, how do we shift the conversation back to what really matters—realness, confidence, and internal value?this isn't just an episode — it's our response to a culture obsessed with perfection. for every woman who's ever looked in the mirror and silently asked, “am i enough?” LEARN THE PIVOT: https://tr.ee/7HFRYW1Vd8NEED 1:1 OR GROUP SUPPORT? https://www.regardless.co/coachingMORE REGARDLESS? → website: https://www.regardless.co→sign up for our newsletter: https://www.regardless.co→ follow us on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/regardlessthepod/?hl=en→ follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@regardlessthepod?lang=enMORE SKYLAR? https://www.instagram.com/skylarsorkin/?hl=enhttps://www.tiktok.com/@skylarsorkinproduced by REGARDLESS™ & in partnership with The Los Angeles Tribune Podcast Network

‘Tall girls just aren't that pretty.'That's how we're made to feel or even what we're told growing up by our crush, our peers, even family and friends, and strangers. And it's not a one-and-done thing. In fact, it's recurring. We hear and feel this often enough for us to wonder: Does everyone have the same viewpoint of tall women? That we're these ‘big', awkward skyscrapers? Why? Why is this the case? I got 3 words for ya: Societal beauty standards. This is explained in a piece written in the Minnesota Daily by Sidney Clarke, who says, “height has been inextricably associated with a lack of conventional beauty.” Why is this the case? And how can we overcome this?Well, that's what today's episode is all about! We're back - and this week, we're going deep. In a world obsessed with perfection, youth, and filters, what does beauty actually mean in 2025?In this episode, we're getting real about:
In this powerful episode of The Anxiety Chicks, Alison and Taylor open up about the emotional journey of aging—particularly from a woman's perspective. From the pressure to look a certain way to the silent grief of unmet expectations, they get real about what it means to grow older in a society that glorifies youth. The conversation explores the internal shifts that come with milestone birthdays like 30 or 40, the emotional weight of becoming a caregiver to aging parents, and the strength that can be found in the middle of life's most tender transitions. Whether you're navigating body image, grieving what never was, or learning to love who you're becoming—this episode is a reminder that aging is not a curse, but a privilege.
In this thought-provoking episode, the first ever America's Next Top Model winner Adrianne Curry joins host Josie to delve into the complex and often controversial world of women's beauty standards. Together, they explore the societal pressures, media influences, and cultural norms that shape how women are expected to look. As they discuss personal experiences and broader societal trends, they ask the tough question: Who's to blame for these ever-evolving ideals? Tune in for a candid conversation on the challenges women face in navigating beauty expectations and the impact of these standards on self-image and confidence.

Every woman has something that's tearing away at her esteem —a part they wish they could change. Many of us struggle with internal battles, feeling defined by societal perceptions of beauty or worth. In his message, The Noblewoman Era, Dr. Gabe draws from the biblical story of Leah and Rachel, illustrating how societal and internal pressures can shape—even skew—our self-worth. Leah, often overshadowed by Rachel's beauty, teaches us that our perceived imperfections do not define our potential.Support the showText encounteratl to 94000 to stay up-to-date on all things Encounter.Worship with EncounterSundays at 9 AM ET | Wednesdays at 7:30 PM ETSupport EncounterText egive to 77977 Connect with EncounterFacebook | Instagram | TikTok | YouTube | WebsiteConnect with Dr. GabeInstagram | YouTube | Website

What is the world's definition of beauty? How often have we squeezed, strived, and starved ourselves in order to meet its impossible standards, only to feel we're never enough? Today's podcast is Part 1 of a two-part series on Dreaming with God, where Stasi shares God's invitation to see ourselves through His eyes—to trade striving for rest, shame for grace, and the enemy's lies for God's Truth. God not only calls us beautiful (SoS 1:15), but He also invites us to walk in union with Him, partnering with Him in the joy of becoming who He has created us to be and offering what He has uniquely planted in our hearts.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Song of Songs 4:1 (NLT) – You are beautiful, my darling, beautiful beyond words. Your eyes are like doves …2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT) – So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.John 15:5 (NLT) – Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NIV) – The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.Matthew 22:39 (NLT) – … ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'…..RESOURCESBecoming Myself: Embracing God's Dream of You by Stasi Eldredge https://amzn.to/4gYrsZyQuote: “Today you are you.
