In the New Testament we see how, as the gospel spread, new churches were established as hubs for discipleship and carrying out God's mission in a local area. But is there still a need for new churches today? In this final episode of Season 3, Nick Cady speaks with the Core Team of the Cultivate Church Planter Training Program, an initiative of CGN which has developed a local-church based program to assess, train, deploy, and care for leaders who will spearhead new church plants around the world. The members of the Cultivate Core Team believe that the world needs more gospel-centered churches, and in this episode they talk about why there is a need for more churches, as well as some common mistakes that church planters and sending churches can make, and some proven methods for helping new church plants succeed. Bruce Zachary is the founding pastor of Calvary Nexus in Camarillo, CA. Along with the oversight and shepherding of that flock of believers, Bruce has been very active in leadership development all over the world. He co-directs the Calvary Church Planting Network with Pastor Miles DeBenedictis, which helps prospective church planters with training and other aspects of church planting. He also oversees the Velo Church Leadership team that comes alongside of churches and leaders to further equip and strengthen their leadership and service for God's Kingdom. He is also the author of 16 books, as well as two training manuals (which are also in Spanish). Bruce breathes leadership, and oozes leadership. He is a leader's leader as well as a man eager to learn and grow. In this podcast, Bruce will lay out the basics of a church leadership development plan, and will overview the many great resources available through Calvary Nexus, CCPN, and Velo. Bruce Zachary was raised in a Jewish home, and came to faith in Christ as Messiah 25+ years ago. He has been teaching the Bible for almost 25 years. He and Karen, his lovely bride have been married since 1991, and are blessed by their sons Joshua and Jonathan. Bruce taught at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa’s School of the Bible, and is a graduate of CCCM’s School of Ministry. He has been an ordained pastor for near 25 years, and was an attorney for 25 years. In 1996 he planted Calvary Nexus in Camarillo, Ca. where he continues to serve as lead pastor of a multi-site church. Bruce is the author of 12 books, and also serves as the director of the Calvary Church Planting Network [CCPN] a global church planting initiative.
