In this episode, Brian Brodersen joins us to share insights from decades of pastoral ministry, biblical exposition, and spiritual discernment. Now serving as pastor emeritus of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, Brian reflects on his transition out of the lead pastor role, and his current ministry leading a Sunday night Bible study through the New Testament - currently in the Book of Acts. This intentional, accessible overview of the New Testament continues to build up believers and equip the next generation with solid biblical foundations. The heart of our conversation focuses on the nation of Israel, biblical prophecy, and current events. Drawing from a dispensational framework without lapsing into speculation, Brian offers careful guidance for preachers navigating one of the most charged and misunderstood topics in Christian ministry today. Whether you're teaching through Ezekiel 38–39, responding to the news cycle, or wondering how to speak about Jerusalem from the pulpit, this episode will offer clarity, conviction, and a call to faithfulness. In the final section, Brian turns our attention to the spiritual realities behind gospel ministry. Drawing on themes from his book The Powers of Darkness & the People of God, he reminds us that the preacher is always a target for satanic opposition. This sobering yet hope-filled word will encourage pastors and Bible teachers to persevere in the face of unseen resistance.Guest Bio – Brian Brodersen:Brian Brodersen is pastor emeritus of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, where he served as senior pastor from 1993 to 2023. He is also president of the Calvary Global Network, chancellor of Calvary Chapel Bible College, and co-founder/director of Creation Fest UK. Mary welcomes Rob Yardley to the podcast, Rob is a true servant in the church with the heart of a pastor and theologian. Rob has served on several boards of note and continues to do so - from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa to ICR to Thru the Bible with J Vernon McGee. His new role as Executive Director of The Berean Call is one that is dear to his heart because of his friendship with the late Dave Hunt, and of course T.A. McMahon, who has recently retired. When putting godly men like Dave Hunt, TA, Henry Morris, and J Vernon side by side we get a picture of 20th century men that God greatly used. We will look at the legacies of each one, and talk about what it means to be a Berean in 2025. Where are today's great apologists and theologians? A thoughtful hour with a thoughtful brother. Dr Philip Nation's work has included roles as a Bible publisher, revitalizing established churches as a pastor, working with non-profit organizations, curriculum publishing, and serving as a university professor. His personal publishing experience includes writing, co-authoring, and editing over 20 published works. Over the years, he has trained leaders in multiple countries around the world and continues to travel for teaching, preaching, and leader training. Lessons learned from nearly 4 decades of expositional preaching, trends that he has seen come and go, and decisions that he has made to be a continual learner and to always be making progress as a preacher, and some very practical advise on being a guest preacher. In the second half of the interview we speak about the positive and negative effects that church leadership can have on a pastors family. Philip shares some ways that for those of us who have kids in the house can help our kids to think positively about the church and have a confidence in the sufficiency of the word of God. The Calvary Chapel Church has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the body of Christ. Calvary Chapel Natomas is an affiliate of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and has been established through Calvary Chapel Amador. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. Therefore, our ministry emphasizes the exposition of God's Word from Genesis to Revelation. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His promised return in power and glory. We believe that repentance from sin and acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior is the only way to come into a relationship with God. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life; we further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today.

Brenten Powers taught Sound & Recording at Calvary Chapel Bible College (www.calvarychapelbiblecollege.com) and gave the students the opportunity to share their projects on the radio and this podcast. Please like, comment, subscribe and contact us to let us know you listened and liked it. I'll pass that on to my students and encourage them to keep producing Biblical content. In today's bad news media, Christians have good news of salvation to share, and the world desperately needs to know Jesus. Thanks for sharing! Chuck is one of the founding members of Love Song, the band that partnered with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and Pastor Chuck Smith during the revival of the 1970's dubbed the Jesus Movement. The story of Love Song is a compelling one as God used them to literally birth Christian music as we know it today. As well, the Love Song story was introduced in the movie Jesus Revolution. In this episode, you will hear Chuck's life before Christ, how God saved and rescued him and how God used and continues to use him for the glory and praise of Christ. For More on Chuck Girard:https://www.chuckgirard.com/Rock & Roll Preacher BookA Band Called Love Song DocumentaryAn Oral History of Jesus MovementSupport the showWant to support Jesus in My Life Podcast, please consider supporting us with a small monthly contribution, details at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2004457/supporters/newContact us at: jesusinmylifepodcast@gmail.comFollow us Online on: TikTok@jesusinmylifepodcastFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/jesusinmylifepodcast

Jennie and I talk about our testimony in this episode. how we were impacted by the Jesus Movement in the 1990's. We caught the tail end of the revival - and were impacted by Jesus! Chuck Smith, founder and pastor of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, led with expositional verse-by-verse Bible studies. He taught that the gifts seen and described in The New Testament are at work today. He baptized members in the Pacific Ocean. Unlike many other Christian movements, there was no single leader or figurehead of the Jesus movement. "The timing of this [Jesus Revolution film] is incredible, and I believe God's hand has been on it from the beginning," said Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in California Our testimony is "The Holy Spirit of God; Working through the Word of God; Transforming the People of God!" It's Wednesday, March 1st, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Muslim Ugandans severely beat Christian pastor Morning Star News reports a pastor in Uganda suffered severe injuries after being attacked earlier this month. Muslim leaders in the country had invited Pastor Arthur Asadi Babi to participate in a religious debate. His arguments led several dozen Muslims to accept Christ. The attack followed immediately afterward. A church member was able to rescue Babi. He received treatment at a local medical center. The pastor is himself a convert from Islam and has a wife and six children. Matthew 5:10 says, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Dept. of Energy: COVID caused by lab leak The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that the U.S. Department of Energy has concluded the COVID-19 pandemic was likely caused by a lab leak. The department made the conclusion with “low confidence.” The FBI had previously concluded with “moderate confidence” that the pandemic was the result of a lab leak from Wuhan, China. Republican Senator Rick Scott of Florida tweeted, “The Left spent the past 2 years trying to censor the truth & cover up for Communist China, but the facts are undeniable. . . . It's time to hold this evil regime accountable.” Florida Catholic bookstore's objection to non-biological pronouns Last Wednesday, a Catholic bookstore in Florida filed a lawsuit against the city of Jacksonville over its anti-discrimination law. In 2017, the Jacksonville city council added so-called sexual orientation and gender identity to its human rights ordinance. Queen of Angels Catholic Bookstore accuses city officials of passing the ordinance to “require businesses to address customers using their preferred pronouns and titles regardless of a customer's biological sex.” New York pregnancy centers won't be forced to hire pro-aborts On Monday, the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that New York pregnancy centers do not have to hire pro-abortion employees. In 2019, the state passed a ridiculous law to protect pro-abortion individuals from so-called “discrimination” when seeking jobs. The pro-life Evergreen Association runs pregnancy centers in New York and took issue with the law. Attorney Matthew Belz with the Thomas More Society represents the group. He said, “We are pleased that the panel recognized the need to protect mission-oriented organizations from intrusions by the state, and we look forward to cementing this victory at the district court level.” Arkansas and Tennessee crack down on drag shows Several states are cracking down on sexually-perverted drag shows. Last Friday, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the Republican governor of Arkansas, signed a bill to prohibit children from attending drag shows. The bill also bans drag shows on public property. On Monday, Bill Lee, the Republican governor of Tennessee, said he would sign a similar bill. The state's legislature passed the bill along with another measure which bans transgender body mutilation of children. Gov. DeSantis now controls Disney district On Monday, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill that gives the state control over Walt Disney World's special governing district, reports Axios. First, the district, which had been overseen by the Disney corporation for 50 years, is $700,000 in debt. But the move comes after Disney has promoted sexually perverted lifestyles in education and entertainment. Now, DeSantis can appoint a five-member board of supervisors to direct the district. Before signing the bill, DeSantis said Disney was promoting values that were at odds with parents in Florida. DESANTIS: “We had a little bit of a tussle last year over school legislation. Disney came out against something that was really just about protecting young kids and making sure that students are able to go to school learning to read, write, add, subtract, and not having a teacher tell them that they can change their gender. Most parents agree with that. But you know, that was only a mild annoyance. “I think that what we came to realize after that dust settled was you clearly had a movement within the corporation itself, of course, Burbank, California-based elements of it that said, it's their goal to inject a lot of this sexuality into the programming for young kids. I'm a dad -- six, four and two -- and my wife and I, and I know parents throughout Florida, we want our kids to be kids. We want them to be able to enjoy entertainment [and] school without having an agenda imposed upon them. If you're going that way as a corporation, those are not the values that we want to promote in the state of Florida.” The sterling reputation of Christian film director Jon Erwin And finally, Jon Erwin, a Christian film director, has become the first in his industry to receive four A+ CinemaScore ratings. For decades, CinemaScore has been measuring movie appeal by surveying audiences at opening night. Erwin's latest perfect score comes after the release of Jesus Revolution. It achieved No. 3 at the box office over the weekend. The film tells the story of how Pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa reached southern California hippies with the Gospel in the 1970s. (Watch the trailer for Jesus Revolution in the theaters now. Get tickets here.) Erwin also achieved A+ ratings for Woodlawn (2015), I Can Only Imagine (2018), and American Underdog (2021). Harold Mintz, president of CinemaScore, said, “Jon Erwin has now achieved four A+ CinemaScores, more than any other filmmaker since we have been compiling data. For a director to achieve that accomplishment once is a rarity. But to hit that mark four times is not only an incredible distinction – it's unprecedented.” Proverbs 22:29 says, “Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, March 1st in the year of our Lord 2023. In this, the first of two bonus episodes as we close out this season, we have the opening message from the 2022 CGN International Conference, in which Nick Cady shares on how to create a “gospel culture” in our churches. In the midst of that message, we have a special interview with Cheryl Brodersen, in which she talks about the culture of the Jesus People Movement and the early days of Calvary Chapel. Cheryl leads the Joyful Life Women's Ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. She is the wife of Pastor Brian Brodersen and the daughter of Pastor Chuck Smith, which gives Cheryl a unique perspective, having had a front row seat for all that God has done through the Calvary Chapel Movement and CGN from the beginning. Cheryl shares some insights from the history of Calvary Chapel about how to not only create, but also maintain a gospel culture in our churches. Stay tuned for the next (and final) bonus episode, featuring a message and a conversation with Pastor Ray Ortlund.

Teach them how to listen, teach them how to read, and discuss with them what they are learning.Be willing to take risks with them.Correct when correction is necessary and encourage when encouragement is needed.Don't attach your identity and worth to their success and failures but show them what a true understanding of your identity and worth in Christ looks like.Be thankful and present when you have them and be thankful and hopeful when God takes them to other places and other people.Join our private Facebook group to continue the conversation: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ExpositorsCollectiveThe Expositors Collective podcast is part of the GoodLion podcast network, for more thought provoking Christian podcasts visit https://goodlion.io
