Let's open our Bibles to 1 Samuel 13:5-14. Continuing our sermon series The Upgrade! Our guest speaker, the Rev. Dr. Taft Quincey Heatley, currently serves as the twelfth senior pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Alexandria, VA. Shiloh is a historic church in the Old Town Community of Alexandria founded by former enslaved African Americans in 1863. Currently, the church has over 40 ministries and is proud to continue its legacy of service. Dr. Heatley recently served as the Executive Pastor of the Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur, Georgia, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Hale, Senior Pastor. As Executive Pastor, Dr. Heatley oversaw all the ministries at the Ray of Hope which totaled more than 50 and managed a staff of 12. In April 2014, Dr. Heatley released his first book, God Is the Goal: The Chase for Intimacy with God. In March 2015, Dr. Heatley served as "Chaplain of the Day," at the Georgia House of Representatives and on March 16, 2015, Dr. Heatley was the guest minister on the Yolanda Adams Morning Show for their Meditation Monday segment. Prior to his call to ministry, Dr. Heatley was an investment banker in the financial services industry, serving as a senior financial analyst with Salomon Smith Barney now Citigroup Corporate Investment Bank in New York, NY.
