We kick off season 3 with Jeff Azar, aka Demi the Daredevil. Initially a drummer, Jeff morphed into a one-man show following the untimely passing of singer, Jovan Ortiz. In 2017, the debut album Secret Schizoid was released and Jeff Azar officially became "Demi the Daredevil". Inspired by music ranging from pop punk & classic rock to classical & Broadway, Demi's sound and image has emerged both theatrical and genuine. Combining meaningful lyrics with catchy alternative pop sensibilities, Jeff has managed to tap into deep, relatable material which appeals both to a mainstream audience and those who fall outside of the "norm." "With the character Demi, you've found your safe creepy place," Jeff states. An immediate clue to the accuracy of this statement is the off-color aesthetic displayed by the artist himself. A fearless, often unorthodox eccentric, Demi the Daredevil still emerges radio friendly, even if the music is relatable to a less conformist culture. Whether a goth kid, theater geek, or punk rock anarchist, angsty hook-laden anthems like Not Havin' a Blast & America Anonymous from the 2019 Magic + Accidents EP, and Paranoia on Main Street punctuate the artist's catalogue. Demi signed with Waldman Management in 2021 and released Purgatorium via Adventure Cat Records the following year. The infectious 5 song EP features such alternative rock meets EDM numbers as The Martyr's Crown and Withering Heights, both with accompanying music videos. He has been featured on iVote, Warped Tour, Buffering the Web Series, Digital Tour Bus, Pop Song Professor, Don't Bore Us and even gained the quote “A haunting sonic experience” from Erin Coulehan of Rolling Stone. With over six million Spotify streams and thousands of pieces of fan art already in existence, Demi the Daredevil has only just begun. Austin Texas based artist Jeff Azar A.KA. Demi the Daredevil went from the drummer to being a one-man show after the original lead singer Jovan Ortiz suddenly passed away. Demi mixes theatrically edgy vocals with an alternative emo pop style to create a unique sound that you can't quite find anywhere else. Jeff's unconventional approach to songwriting provides the listener with deep, relatable meaning, choosing substance over radio norms, creating a safe space and community for the "Devilin Cult". Pure and raw emotion pours out from every self-produced gothic fantasy-like track, representing those with actual chemical imbalances and disabilities. With the music, you're transported to a darkly ethereal yet nostalgic atmosphere. With the character, Demi, you've found your safe creepy place. Demi has eclipsed 2 million Spotify streams independently, 1,000+ fan art pieces, and has been featured on Buzzfeed, Rock the Vote, Warped Tour, Buffering the Web Series, Digital Tour Bus, Pop Song Professor, Don't Bore Us, The One, American Songwriter Top 100, Songwriter of the Year, and Springboard Music Festival to name a few. Demi has also collaborated with Kevin Butler (Blue October), Sean O'Keefe (Fall Out Boy), Chris Qualls (Concord Publishing), and Austin Bello (Forever the Sickest Kids) with songs being actively pitched to Netflix, Disney+, and more. Jam On It: Digital Tour Bus - Joshua Weidling Interview by KCSS Podcasts
This episode features the founder of Digital Tour Bus, Joshua Weidling. Digital Tour Bus is like an MTV cribs for your favorite bands on the road.
Philadelphia, PA // April 11, 2017: After returning from the successes of their previous tour with mewithoutyou, downtime is the last thing on the minds of psych-boogie outfit, Needle Points as they announce their upcoming Digital Tour Bus sponsored excursion in support of their LP titled Feel Young. For this latest effort the group employed the refined ears and groovy expertise of Dr. Dog guitarist and vocalist Scott McMicken, whoâ??s tasteful touch and influence shines through on every track. McMicken, who undoubtedly knows a thing or two about what it means to be â??vibeyâ?? candidly referred to the Philly five piece as the â??vibey-est band everâ??, a compliment that is not to be taken lightly. The alluring psychedelic album art for Feel Young is the perfect visual representation of the bands bright and blissful sonic offerings as well as the groupâ??s overall hippy-chic aesthetic. Adorned in leopard print, dangling amulets, and tassels for-days, Needle Points are prepared to hit the open road and cast their spell upon all those who share the belief that rock and roll is alive and well, and that music is a dish best served with cold beer, wide smiles and rad f%$&ing haircuts.
