In this powerful and freeing message, Pastor Suzie Genin of Dwelling House Church teaches how our words, thoughts, and beliefs shape the spiritual realities we live in. Many believers unknowingly come into agreement with lies—about themselves, others, or God—that hold them back from walking in the freedom Jesus purchased for them. Drawing from Scripture and real-life application, Pastor Suzie reveals how to identify and break these false agreements by declaring truth and aligning with God's Word. This message will equip you to recognize the enemy's subtle influence, renew your mind, and walk boldly in your identity as a child of God. If you're searching for a Spirit-filled church in Madison, WI, that values the Word of God, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and authentic transformation, we invite you to join Dwelling House Church—a place where people encounter Jesus and are made new. This sermon answers: 1. What does it mean to “come out of agreement” with lies and align with God's truth? 2. How can we recognize and break spiritual strongholds rooted in wrong beliefs? 3. Why is speaking and declaring God's Word vital to living in freedom and victory? ===================== Visit Dwelling House online: https://dwellinghousechurch.com Follow us on Instagram: https://instagram.com/dwellinghousechurch Like us on Facebook: https://facebook.com/dwellinghousechurch

Another day in the mid-50's as we get ready for colder temps this weekend. It's Hypothetical Thursday, so we once again asked each other hypothetical questions. Jean's question for Brian was: "Who was the most influential person in your life?". Brian's question for Jean was: "Would you rather fly First-Class every time you fly & stay in a 1-star hotel...or stay in a 5-star hotel whenever you go somewhere & have the middle seat in economy?" Office Cora joined us just after 8am to let us know what she's up to this weekend in the 715. Her hypothetical question for us was: "If you could only have one condiment for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?" We also let you know what's on TV today/tonight, talked about season 2 of KPop Demon Hunters, and Miss Piggy's stand-alone movie. In sports, Week 10 in the NFL kicks off tonight with Thursday Night Football, the Bucks are off until Friday, Giannis got a black eye and it's origins are….interesting, and a look at the Badger men's basketball schedule and the Badger football schedule. Great story about a heroic teen in Florida who recently helped save a bunch of people who were stuck in their vehicles during a flash flood. And an absolutely heart-warming story about a 93 year-old man who used his smelly socks to help track down & find his lost dog. In case you missed it, Kraft recently released a new flavor of it's Mac-n-Cheese, and people have strong reactions to it. Elsewhere in sports, Alexander Ovechkin scored his 900th career goal, Kyler Murray is going on the IL, and CJ Strout is going to sit this weekend for the Texans. October just recently wrapped up, and many of you probably went to a wedding. October is the most popular month for nuptials, and we looked a list of ways you might have been rude at a wedding. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who REALLY needed to use a bathroom stall at a grocery store, a hospital in Maine is apologizing for sending letters to a bunch of LIVING patients…telling them that they are actually DEAD, a council meeting in Scotland that had to edit the recording of a recent meeting after someone went to the bathroom without turning off their camera, the benefits of having sex in the morning, and a drunk substitute teacher in WI.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Political Scientists Jack Greenberg (Yale University) and John Dearborn (Vanderbilt University) have a new book that focuses on the idea of presidential self-restraint and the ways in which the U.S. Congress has tried to design Executive positions with an eye towards making real this dimension of presidential norms. The concept of presidential self-restraint is a component of how the president uses his/her executive powers: that the president has a certain expanse of power and chooses, based on a variety of reasons or outcomes, to husband some of that power, or restrain its use. Because presidential self-restraint is particularly hard to divine, especially in how presidents think about the execution of their powers, Greenberg and Dearborn turned to congressional considerations that essentially take into account this idea. Congress has spent quite a lot of time over the past fifty years (since Watergate) in designing appointed positions within the Executive branch in such a way as to flesh out a kind of restraint on the president's part. In so doing, Congress has attempted different means to insulate individuals/positions from potential abuse by a president. Congressional Expectations of Presidential Self-Restraint integrates a number of case studies of congressional action on presidential appointments to examine this push and pull between the legislative and executive branches. As the issue of self-restraint has become more pressing, Greenberg and Dearborn sketch out three foundational shifts that provides the framework for the way that Congress has tried to insulate executive positions, and the ways in which Congress has acknowledged the tension around depending on presidential self-restraint. The issues of political polarization, especially as demonstrated by congressional co-partisans with the president, the Supreme Court's growing commitment to constitutional formalism and unilateralism in the Executive, and Congress's unwillingness to defend its own powers and assert those powers all contribute to this conundrum of a reliance on presidential self-restraint that is often caught up in an expansion of the use of executive powers. The case studies provided demonstrate this conundrum and help us to see just how Congress tried to structure self-restraint into a number of different appointments and how presidents have tried to work around those constraints, some more successfully than others. This is a brief but complex analysis of the current dynamic between the president and Article II powers, the U.S. Congress's evaporating powers, and the Supreme Court's complicit role in fortifying an expansive understanding of presidential power. You may have heard Simon Sinek's recent "A Bit of Optimism" podcast that featured Barry-Wehmiller Chairman Bob Chapman and a number of BW team member from our BW Papersystems company in Phillips, WI. One particular team member that was interviewed was Randall Fleming, who was a welder when we aquired (or adopted) Marquip, the company that would become BW Papersystems. While presenting our message of Truly Human Leadership, our CEO Bob Chapman is often asked: What about the people who don't get it? What about the people who actively work against positive change? Barry-Wehmiller has adopted more than 150 companies and as Bob once wrote: We realize that when we acquire a company, the people within that company are a product of their experiences. They may have experienced great leaders in their past or, more likely, they have had some negative experiences. Consequently, some have difficulty trusting our leadership message. That's okay. We're all at a different point on this journey, and we have to be patient and trust that the skeptics will eventually see the transformative power it can have—on both their work lives and their personal lives. On this podcast, you'll hear the story of Randall Fleming, who was one of those people who resisted change at first, but then experienced a radical transformation. He told Simon a part of his story, but we wanted to give you a deeper dive. This episode is Randall's story, told by Randall. It also features BW team members Ken Coppens and Maureen Schloskey. Randall's story is testament to the life-changing power of meaningful work and the power of what happens when people care in business. It's what happens when you establish a workplace culture of empathy and shared purpose as opposed to the "command and control" atmosphere of most traditional management environments. Randall's story is an illustration of when we say that the way we lead impacts the way people live. He not only found more fulfillment in his work, his whole life completely changed. And Randall then became a leader, mentor and inspiration to others.
