Nick Giumenti (@nickgiumenti) joins me this week for a wide-ranging, honest, and reflective conversation about the journey of My Ticket Home, the band's recent return, and what really happened to the long-lost MTH album. We dig into the early grind of being underage on tour, the evolution of the music industry and evevoling relationship with it, better defining what we want and don't want in life, the evolution of MTH's sound, the cult-like-following "Strangers Only" gained over time, the difference in sound between that and their follow up "unReal", how the band found itself taking a break, and what it's like trying to define success as a creative today. Nick opens up about the personal growth that came during the band's hiatus, how his side project Headcave came to be, and what keeps us both creatively motivated in a world that doesn't always instantly reward risk or authenticity. From skipping high school graduation to play a concert, to rediscovering why making music still matters, recorded just days after MTH's return show in Columbus, OH, this one's full of life lessons, music industry talk, and finding that creative fire! Episode 72: William Bowerman. When I first saw Dua Lipa perform, the drummer immediately stood out, and it turned out he was also the musical director: William Bowerman. Fast forward 10 years, and William is one of the most in-demand musical directors in the world, coming out of London. He's still MD for Dua Lipa, and now his client list also includes Post Malone, Jennie, BLACKPINK, The Kid Laroi, FKA Twigs, Addison Rae, and many more. His work with Dua opened the floodgates, and he's since co-founded WFB with his wife, creative director Ace Bowerman. Together, they're building something special. William stopped by my place while he was in LA rehearsing for Coachella with Jennie, and we had a great hang. We talked about his path, creative process, artist relationships, WFB, and life. Here is our conversation! Hope you enjoy it. I can't tell you how many days and hours I spent in dusty, or paved, parking lots in various cities watching the Warped Tour. It was a part of my summer every year for about a decade. I wouldn't miss it. As much joy as I found at the Warped Tour, it never would've happened without Lollapalooza.First launched in 1991 as a farewell tour for Janes Addiction, Lollapalooza ended up launching a series of touring festivals, and even helped to shape the festival scene that we have now. Authors Richard Bienstock and Tom Beaujour have put together what I think is a remarkable oral history of Lollapalooza. They spoke with everyone to create this book called 'Lollapalooza: The Uncensored Story Of Alternative Rock's Wildest Festival.'

Interview by Angela CroudaceLetlive's reunion isn't just a return to the stage—it's an emotional and spiritual journey for the band. After a seven-year break, the group, which originally formed in 2002, has reconnected, sharing stories of their lives and realising they were all in similar places. This realisation, combined with their shared love for music and each other, sparked the decision to hit the road again. Initially, they planned a few shows, but the idea grew into a full tour that includes Australia this September.Jason Aalon Butler, the band's frontman and son of soul artist Aalon Butler, explains that their decision to reunite wasn't merely about nostalgia—it was a deeper spiritual alignment. The members of Letlive have evolved individually, and as a result, their relationships have become stronger. “We understand ourselves much better than when we were younger,” Jason reflects, noting how life experiences have brought them closer. The band's line up now includes new faces, like Sage Weber on drums and Skyler Accord on bass. “They just fit again because they get it,” Jason says. Their talent and energy bring something fresh to the band, creating a perfect synergy with the original members.Letlive's sound has also evolved over the years, expanding from the punk roots of their early albums like Fake History to incorporate diverse influences, from jazz fusion to hip-hop. Jason explains that the band's goal has always been to expand their reach while remaining authentic to themselves. “We try to be as honest as we can with the art we create,” he says. After playing massive festivals like Warped Tour and Louder Than Life, Letlive is excited to return to the stage with their renewed energy. The band's live shows have always resonated deeply with fans, largely due to their raw transparency and passion. Jason emphasises, “We're just fans of the art, and we perform as fans first.”As the band prepares to return to Australia, Jason recalls his first trip there as a pivotal moment in his career. “It felt like I had arrived,” he says. For Letlive, this September marks not jusBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

The Vans Warped tour is back in 2025 for a special 30th anniversary run, taking in 3 dates in the U.S. They're announcing the line-ups in a unique way, given that it's the 30th anniversary of the festival, so they're doing 30 days of Warped, drip feeding bands out over the course of a month. There have been some negative comments online from fans who were hoping to see some bigger-name artists than have (so far) been announced. In this episode of Primordial: The Podcast, Moose and Dews discuss the evolution of festival lineup announcements, the changing demographics of festival audiences, and the balance between nostalgia and new talent in music festivals. The conversation also touches on the relevance of heritage acts, the economics behind Warped Tour's comeback, and the importance of footwear with proper arch support (looking at you, Vans!) They also chat about ticket pricing, particularly in relation to the upcoming Black Sabbath final show, and their hopes for a livestream because - let's face it - the chances of getting tickets are not exactly great! Sean Mackowski (@sean2damax) is an Entrepreneur, Musician and most recently Founder of guitar pedal company, Tallon Electric. After finding and following a passion for music at a yong age that lead him into the touring worlds in bands like My Ticket Home, Attack Attack! and Truslow, Sean also noticed that while he was involved in many of these creative endeavours, his real knack was an attention to details and problem solving. As we dig into his story of going from the music world to the business world, we uncover how his involvement in the touring world, navigating transitions between the few bands he's been in, always seeing himself as the role of "supportive player" and enjoying the systems behind what makes success rather than the spotlight itself, his approach at being driven less by creative and more by solutions, navigating the launch (and closing) of a few different companies, how it all lead to a passion for building guitar pedals and his newest brand Tallon + a bunch more! In this episode of Normal World, Dave Landau, 1/4 Black Garrett, and Angela take on the week's chaos with their trademark humor. They kick things off by roasting the environmental hypocrisy in wildfire-stricken Los Angeles, then shift gears to poke fun at celebrity culture. From Jerry Jones' surprising acting chops to Billy Bob Thornton's questionable music career and James Dolan's infamous band, the crew doesn't hold back. The group shares a hilarious recount of a Corey Feldman concert that had everything: wardrobe malfunctions, viral mishaps, and an audience that didn't know what hit them. They also reminisce about music festivals like Woodstock '99 and Warped Tour, reflecting on how corporate greed and rising prices have sucked the life out of live music. Hollywood's backstabbing culture takes center stage as they contrast it with legends like the Rat Pack and Jerry Seinfeld, who knew how to share the spotlight. They give a nod to Denzel Washington, celebrating his new role as a minister and his grounded approach to fame, while calling out Mark Zuckerberg's sudden embrace of free speech after years of censorship. The show wraps with some playful digs at McDonald's new mascots and wild celebrity death predictions for 2025. This episode of Normal World features Gerard Michaels. Learn more about your ad choices. Scuyler and I watched all five Die Hards over two days - I had never seen a single one - they're really good! Y'all are going to LOVE today's episode with Colin Morrison. Colin was a legend in the 90s Motocross world, traveling with the Warped Tour, getting arrested in Germany, partying all night with the bands - basically living a rock star life...including all the drugs. Colin finally found sobriety and made a name for himself as a sober influencer, even resurrecting his motocross career - only to have it all crash and burn when he revealed he had been relapsed and lying for two years of his sobriety. I had a great time chatting with Colin, you can feel his kindness through the screen, he's just a super genuine dude. Can't wait to hear what y'all think! Branden Steineckert was a founding member of The Used and the driving force behind the band until they kicked him out for being sober in 2006. While that could crush a man, Branden dove onto wakeboarding for a couple of months and came out the other side as the drummer for Rancid, which has been his job for the past 15 years. While that's worthy of its own podcast, we spend a lot of time talking about his heavy childhood in Utah and using skateboarding as an escape. On the podcast, we talk about Ken Block, Tony Hawk, music, his Ghost Pickleball brand, and much more.
