On today's episode of The Right Time, Elle Duncan of ESPN joins Bomani Jones to discuss The New York Knicks' collapse and the ongoing WNBA drama. The show starts with Elle describing the events she witnessed at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night by saying why she won't make fun of Knicks fans (3:14) and that every A-lister was at this game (4:35). Bo explains why he wished the Knicks won the game in overtime (5:53) and loves that Tyrese Haliburton has become a villain in New York (12:12). They switch gears to the WNBA where Bo and Elle agree that it's ok for Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark to not like each other (15:49) and that this discourse prevents the league from making any positive strides (21:34). Bo states that Caitlin Clark is a Tiger Woods-like phenomenon but the WNBA is not capitalizing on it (24:39). They transition to the news that flag football will now be an Olympic sport in 2028 (36:58), which has Bo and Elle questioning if we're really going to see Justin Jefferson vs Team Japan (40:10)? To wrap up the show, Bo and Elle have fun discussing the time she covered the Atlanta Hawks. (48:05) . . . On today's episode, Jason Goff of The Ringer & Chicago Sports Network joins Bomani Jones to mainly discuss Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams. The show starts with Bo saying how people get very angry when he criticizes Scottie Pippen, who happens to be Jason's favorite all-time Chicago Bulls player (1:17). They get into Seth Wickersham's new book, American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback, where Caleb Williams' father, Carl, says how he told the Bears not to draft him and thought about trying the UFL route instead (18:40). After the break, they continue with the Caleb Williams story comparing it to Shedeur Sanders saying if Shedeur was as good as Caleb he would've been selected higher in the 2025 NFL Draft (27:26). They round out the show by saying how incredible Cam Newton's aura was (40:16), how Bo Jackson was the best athlete Bomani has ever seen (43:32) and they joke about the outfits Ciara makes Russell Wilson wear. Kingdoms - Always Keep Your Crown On - Live from ATL - Bishop Kevin Foreman
In today's message, Dr. John looks at Jesus' strong words about those who cause others to stumble in their faith. We're reminded that how we treat the people around us matters—especially those we might overlook. Jesus warns that influencing someone away from Him is no small thing. It's a call to reflect Christ in our relationships and take seriously the impact we have on others. The King Arrives: Throughout North American history, there have been two main reactions to monarchy: rebellion or apathy. Some believe the Crown should be rejected, while others see it as largely irrelevant. In short, we wrestle with the idea of kingship. But for followers of Christ, acknowledging Jesus as King is not optional—it's foundational. In this series, Dr. John Neufeld explores Luke 17–20, showing that the Kingship of Jesus is not only central to the Christian faith, but vital for the world.
On today's episode of The Right Time, Bomani Jones reacts to the NBA Conference Finals being set and the newest Caitlin Clark vs Angel Reese tussle. Bo starts off the show by saying this is the most fun outcome we could've gotten for the NBA Conference Finals because we are exiting the dynasty saga era (2:14). Bo continues to explain why we're trending towards a 1 superstar per team phase in the NBA (9:10) and why these remaining four teams still may feel incomplete (11:17). Bo transitions to the WNBA where we saw another scuffle between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, which prompts Bo to ask how can we enjoy the WNBA without being chronically online (27:01)? Bo declares that it's hardly ever about just basketball with the WNBA lately (27:42) and it's obvious Clark and Reese do not like each other (30:08). And finally, we have another round of If You Haven't Heard stories involving the Diddy Trial jury members, why fur is making a comeback and the United CEO pleading that Newark Airport is safe (38:30). Then Bomani listens to some voicemails about someone you knew that had brothers you wanted no problems with (47:28). In this powerful episode, Granger Smith sits down with Emeal “E.Z.” Zwayne, president of Living Waters, to unpack a riveting testimony of redemption—from a violent youth in gang life to becoming a leading voice in evangelism. E.Z. reflects on his deep admiration for Ray Comfort (his now father-in-law), their Middle Eastern backgrounds, and the unifying power of the gospel. The conversation shifts into his passion for purity and spiritual warfare as he introduces his book Fight Like a Man. With striking biblical insight, E.Z. offers men a tactical, grace-filled strategy for battling pornography, summed up in the memorable acrostic “NOPE: Not One Peek Even.” Through the “Six Cs” framework—Creation, Cross, Crisis, Crown, Crowd, and Christ—he calls men to fight with eternal purpose and deep love for God, family, and the church.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Right versus left. Democrat versus Republican. Liberal versus Conservative. These are the terms we are all too familiar with that practically serve to symbolize the political struggle between good and evil, freedom and tyranny, or big and small government. But if the last 50 years of politics have proven anything, it's that these labels mean shockingly little. Whether it's Reagan opening the nation's floodgates via amnesty under a Republican elephant or the supposedly anti-big corporation Democrats mandating an untested vaccine, both ideas functionally operate as little more than two sides of the same coin. The yard sign changes every four years, but the underlying assumptions and commitments to liberal democracy don't.Yet when you trace the intellectual formation of the American conservative identity you find that wasn't always the case. Something happened in the '60s and '70s that broke our connection to our English, Anglo, and Protestant past and made America into the degenerate war hawk it became in the '90s and early 2000s. Committed to a defense of Israel and esoteric readings of the Ancient Greek philosophers, influential academics like Leo Strauss and Harry Jaffa—alongside journalists like Irving Kristol—birthed a powerful new flavor of conservatism that took root in the American consciousness. This supposedly right-wing political thought had little differences with the left in its embrace of liberal democracy and equality, but served its purpose in turning America into a dominant foreign adversary alongside a compelling narrative about its embrace of creedal nationhood and the peoples of the world. But as the downstream effects of decades of universal suffrage and propositional nationhood come home to roost, neoconservatism offers shockingly little substance in the way of resistance or conserving our Christian European heritage. Populism and revolution are on the rise, and the strong gods are coming home. It's time to stop calling ourselves conservatives and falling into the same dialectical trap again and again. We are not neocons and we are not interested in the solutions of Mitt Romney, Ted Cruz, and Mitch McConnell. Like the Founding Fathers who risked it all to forge a new, self-governed future, we also need real and potentially radical solutions to our dilemma. Cutting taxes by 10% and another war in the Middle East isn't going to do it.Tune in now as we discuss Leo Strauss, American conservatism, and the coming right-wing revolution.MINISTRY SPONSORS:Reece Fund. Sponsored by EasyDNS https://easydns.com/NotOnRecord In episode 166 of Not on Record, hosts Joseph, Michael and Diana tackle the complex issue of "good character evidence" in sexual assault cases, particularly its limited value and admissibility in court. They address listener questions about using witnesses to testify to the accused's good character, clarifying that such evidence is narrowly defined as the accused's general reputation for honesty, morality, and humanity within the community. The hosts caution against putting character on trial, as it opens the door for the Crown to introduce "bad character evidence," such as prior criminal records. They also discuss case law that set limitations on the Crown's ability to introduce bad character evidence and explore scenarios involving similar fact evidence and cross-application of evidence in multi-count indictments, highlighting the importance of distinct similarities and modus operandi. Earthly monarchs may rule with ceremony and symbolism, but Jesus, the true King, came to seek and save the lost. In this episode, Dr. John Neufeld walks through Luke 17–20, where Christ sets His face toward Jerusalem—not for a royal throne, but for the cross. Through stories like Zacchaeus, we see a kingdom built on grace, truth, and love for the least. The King Arrives: Throughout North American history, there have been two main reactions to monarchy: rebellion or apathy. Some believe the Crown should be rejected, while others see it as largely irrelevant. In short, we wrestle with the idea of kingship. Bomani Jones is joined by The Kid Mero of 7 PM in Brooklyn to discuss the New York Knicks vs Boston Celtics playoff series. Bo and Mero start off the show joking about their bodies failing them once they reached the age of 40 (0:50) and how they can't recover from injuries like they used to (2:13). Bo praises Mero for wearing a Knicks Dominican Republic version of a Karl-Anthony Towns jersey (6:30) and Mero says why KAT and Mitchell Robinson could turn into a version of Tim Duncan & David Robinson (10:26). Bo shares his doubts about the Knicks winning this series (18:14) and Mero explains why the Celtics are the corniest NBA team (23:40). They move onto the other NBA topics where they compare Anthony Edwards to an IMAX movie (33:24), why the bad commercials weren't Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's fault (37:59) and that Nikola Jokic's brothers look like henchmen from a movie (46:26). They round out the show imagining Cooper Flagg's life on Duke's campus (52:01) and the ongoing Diddy trial. (59:28) . . . Christians across the country have watched the early months of Trump's return to power with cautious patience—wondering, even praying, for signs that real change was coming. Now, those signs may finally be emerging. Not in fanfare, but in force. After months of what seemed like political stagnation and institutional gridlock, the tide may be beginning to turn. In Riyadh, President Trump delivered a foreign policy message grounded not in idealism, but in clarity—“It is God's job to sit in judgment… My job is to defend America.” That message came alongside a pair of massive economic deals with Qatar and Saudi Arabia, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars and potentially supporting over a million U.S. jobs.Domestically, the ground is shifting as well. A Wisconsin judge—long seen as a symbol of progressive judicial activism—has been federally indicted. And in a ruling few expected, a federal court has upheld Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport members of violent foreign gangs. The legal system, long weaponized against the Right, is starting to show signs of something unfamiliar: equilibrium. And then there's RFK. No, not a defector—still a liberal in many ways—but one willing to tear into the bureaucratic rot inside the NIH. For Christians, his calls for transparency in the halls of scientific authority echo a deeper longing: that the light would expose the darkness. For those who have waited—and prayed—for the return of order, for justice with teeth, and for leaders willing to defend the good, these are not random events. They are early signs. Slow signs. But real ones. What we are witnessing may be the beginning of a providential reordering—not perfect, not messianic, but unmistakable. This episode is brought to you by our premier sponsors, Armored Republic and Reece Fund, as well as our Patreon members and donors. As the American Revolution broke out in New England in the spring of 1775, dramatic events unfolded in Virginia that proved every bit as decisive as the battles of Lexington and Concord and Bunker Hill in uniting the colonies against Britain. Virginia, the largest, wealthiest, and most populous province in British North America, was led by Lord Dunmore, who counted George Washington as his close friend. But the Scottish earl lacked troops, so when patriots imperiled the capital of Williamsburg, he threatened to free and arm enslaved Africans—two of every five Virginians—to fight for the Crown. Virginia’s tobacco elite was reluctant to go to war with Britain but outraged at this threat to their human property. Dunmore fled the capital to build a stronghold in the colony’s largest city, the port of Norfolk. As enslaved people flocked to his camp, skirmishes broke out. “Lord Dunmore has commenced hostilities in Virginia,” wrote Thomas Jefferson. “It has raised our countrymen into a perfect frenzy.” With a patriot army marching on Norfolk, the royal governor freed those enslaved and sent them into battle against their former owners. In retribution, and with Jefferson’s encouragement, furious rebels burned Norfolk to the ground on January 1, 1776, blaming the crime on Dunmore. The port’s destruction and Dunmore’s emancipation prompted Virginia’s patriot leaders to urge the Continental Congress to split from Britain, breaking the deadlock among the colonies and leading to adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Days later, Dunmore and his Black allies withdrew from Virginia, but the legacy of their fight would lead, ultimately, to Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. Chronicling these stunning and widely overlooked events in full for the first time is today’s guest, Andrew Lawler, author of A Perfect Frenzy: A Royal Governor, His Black Allies, and the Crisis that Spurred the American Revolution. He offers a new perspective on the American Revolution that reorients our understanding of its causes, highlights the radically different motivations between patriots in the North and South.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Some days just hit harder than others. You're trying to keep it together, but then you have to run an errand, and you're a complete mess in public – ugly crying in the checkout line or sobbing at a stoplight. Not a great feeling. That's where this woman found herself, rolling through a Burger King drive-thru in Stillwater, Oklahoma, having one of the saddest days of her life. When she pulled up to the window, the guy working there did something small but incredibly kind.

Bomani Jones is joined by Tom Haberstroh of Yahoo Sports to discuss the Jayson Tatum injury and NBA lottery results. Bo starts off the show by saying this seems like a career-altering injury for Jayson Tatum (1:17), similar to Derrick Rose, and why we never saw these types of injuries years ago (9:31). Moving onto the NBA lottery results, Bo says if you believe the NBA rigged the lottery for the Dallas Mavericks you're stupid (29:05) and if Cooper Flagg is a star or high end second option (37:27)? Bo and Tom also float the idea of Giannis Antetokounmpo being traded to Dallas for the 1st pick (38:15) and why San Antonio may make the most sense to pair him with Wemby (45:02). They round out the show by asking if the Draft Lottery actually works (58:46) and suggesting an NBA national signing day may be a better option than an NBA Draft? (1:04:36) . . . It is commonly assumed that Christianity rests upon the foundation of Judaism. Douglas Murray, best-selling author of The War on the West, recently commented: “Western civilization could not survive the destruction of the Jewish state, because it would be, among much else, the cutting away of the whole tree we're on. Western civilization would die.” It is reasoned that since the Old Testament forms the bedrock that the New Testament and Christ rest on, it would be impossible to do away with Judaism without also threatening the moral, legal, and theological edifice that the Christian West rests upon. But inherent in this assumption is a failure to distinguish what Judaism actually is. Judaism is not just Old Testament only, as if they are only working with the same scriptures and laws that David and the prophets had. Rather, in less than a millennium from the giving of the Law at Sinai, a rabbinic tradition began to develop that cut away at the commands, worship, and reverence due to God. It replaced mercy with loopholes, God's authority with man's tradition, and instead of faith, a convoluted legal system meant to trick God in their favor. By the time of Jesus's ministry, 1500 years removed from the giving of the law, barely anything resembling true religion and worship remained. So today we are unpacking the source of these rabbinic teachings: The Talmud. What does it say? What does it teach? On today's episode of The Right Time, Bomani Jones reacts to the NBA playoff semifinals and NFL rookie mini-camp beginning. Bo starts off the show by saying why the Cleveland Cavaliers can still win this series vs the Indiana Pacers despite being down 3-1 (3:08) and why there isn't any semifinals series he feels has been decided yet (8:44). Bo rounds out his NBA talk by saying neither Nikola Jokic or Shai-Gilgeous Alexander have been playing like MVP candidates (26:08). Sarah and her gf got a caricature, and it is truly the stuff of nightmares. We debate whether the "artist" was intentionally making it awful, why he wanted to give her gigantic boobs, and what message he was trying to send. Sarah watched a new series on Netflix and now she is fascinated by equine social culture, but is simultaneously against horse racing. We do have some questions about horse transportation--not when you ride a horse, but when the horse takes a road trip to get to the next race. We discuss an algae bloom that is turning seals into rabid beasts and Sarah thinks it's a foreboding about the apocalypse. We learn about Alice Ball who cured a killer disease, but the credit was given to some douchebags who didn't do a darn thing. Plus, we hear about a pest that is terrorizing a town and Susie somehow relates it to how she's a pretty randy gal. And Sarah ruins cicadas for all of us.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Get $10 off your first month's subscription and free shipping when you go to https://nutrafol.com and enter the promo code BRAINCANDYThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. On today's episode, Vinnie Goodwill of Yahoo Sports joins Bomani Jones to recap some of the NBA Semifinals games. They start off the show shocked with the New York Knicks completing their second comeback in a row vs the Boston Celtics (0:46) which makes Bo and Vinnie question if Jayson Tatum is that guy (7:19)? Sticking with the Knicks vs Celtics series, they wonder if Joe Mazzulla is limiting Tatum's game (12:57) and why is there no alternative to shooting only 3 pointers (15:53)? Switching to the Indiana Pacers vs Cleveland Cavaliers series, Bo says why the Pacers had to have that game with the Cavs dealing with injuries (37:31) and that Tyrese Haliburton does not miss clutch shots (40:20). They round out the show by asking if the Oklahoma City Thunder are truly 40+ points better than the Denver Nuggets (46:01) and reminiscing on the legendary career of Larry Bird (48:33). . . .
