Again listener Ashleigh C convinced us to read a Patterson book because Dolly Parton co-wrote it as “it's very loosely autobiographical.” So we took on 17-week NYT bestseller by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. There's a companion country album? Yes please. We also have special guest - comedian, showrunner and fellow Pennsylvanian Leo Allen, the man behind such classic shows as Nathan For You, Review with Forrest MacNeil, Jon Benjamin Has a Van and yes, even Saturday Night Live. Plus: he's a HUGE Dolly fan. Mean Book Club is four ladies (UCB, BuzzFeed, College Humor, Impractical Jokers) who read, discuss and whine about NYT bestselling books that have questionable literary merit. It's fun. It's cathartic. It's perfect for your commute. New podcast (almost) every Tuesday! The Review Show

Episode 200. It's our 200th episode! Finally, we really learn about the concept of reviewing things from the 2014 scripted comedy series Review. Forrest MacNeil hosts a show where he reviews life experiences based on audience requests, and he has a sworn duty to embody each assignment to the fullest and provide a rating of 1-5 stars, regardless of the damage this may cause him and his loved ones. Forrest reviews stealing, eating 15 pancakes, getting divorced, eating 30 pancakes, going to space, starting a cult, and spending the night in a haunted house, all with unintended consequences that tear his family apart and force him to the brink of death while he insists the show must go on. The Whatnauts present The Review Show, a weekly book club style podcast for all sorts of pop culture. We cover a variety of genres and mediums — movies, TV shows, comics, anime, manga, audio dramas — picking out a specific piece of entertainment that we can cover in a week's time. Every episode, your intrepid co-hosts Kyle and Melissa dive into the media of the week (with a spoiler warning!), give recommendations, and take turns pitching the next topic. For one episode a month, we check in with continuing coverage on a longer title, like a full TV series or comics run, and follow it all the way to the end. Join us for fun discussions on a wild variety of entertainment you should know! Check out our other podcasts here, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's a bonus episode! In another rare pre-Everwood-viewing recording -- in honor of S1E16, "My Funny Valentine" -- the gang celebrates Valentine's Day in January (and then releases it in October)! They discuss (with some spoilers, so beware!) the excellent non-Everwood TV show, Review with Forrest Macneil (starring the inimitable Andy Daly), before forcing KT to guess the name of the creator of another non-Everwood TV show, Community. Enjoy!

Godzilla goes big, but does it go home? Yet more AI shenanigans in The Machine, a B-Movie with Caity Lotz of Arrow fame. Mock-reality show Review with Forrest MacNeil divides the camp. In The Flesh gets booted in favour of already booted Friends With Better Lives starring James Van Der Beek and his now unemployed friends. The tension is palpable as Steve leaves us with a cliff-hanger ending.

On today's show I talk to comedian Andy Daly. Born in New York, Andy started comedy in the late 90s first with Chicago City Limits and then with UCB, where he was part of the first wave of the theatre and performed on the legendary team The Swarm. In 2000, Andy moved to LA to join the cast of MADtv, and since then has performed on a number of awesome shows including Eastbound and Down, The Life and Times of Tim, and Reno 911. Recently his show Review premiered on Comedy Central, where Andy's character Forrest MacNeil reviews life events like getting a divorce or being a racist.Check out the website for Beginnings, subscribe on iTunes, follow me on Twitter!
