After some downtime Stewart, Rastislav and Ken make their return for Off The Record number 6 of 2025. Kens feature pick is Rampage from 1987 Directed by William Friedkin and starring Michael Biehn. A mostly sombre film about the vampire killer Richard Chase and what the experience was like in the courtroom for the jurors. Even though this was a serious film, Ken recounts a few memorable and funny moments and is on his recommended list.Stewart's greater pick Friendship from 2024 is a story about two neighbours who become great friends, but through the struggles of everyday life have a falling out because the main character is a bit of a born loser. Andrew DeYoung take this classic tale and puts a modern twist on it. The main character played by Tim Robinson is very good in his role. Rasto decides to go the documentary route this time with his 2022 pick called Louis Armstrong's Black & Blues, which explores the life and times of this pioneer of jazz. Directed by Sacha Jenkens using actual footage of Louis Armstrong. Rasto was very pleased with this film and the controversy surrounding Louis Armstrong at the time.We slide back to Ken for another semi-court room drama called Juror No. 2 directed by Clint Eastwood in 2024. Ken was somewhat impressed but also let down at a key moment in the film. Nicholas Hoult stars in the film, And Ken decides this film is worth a better score than our recent review of Cry Macho. After all these serious picks, Stewart from out in left field brings us his tale of the Toxic Avenger from 1984, which in all manor of speaking is a B Movie done so wrong, that it turns out alright! Tons of gore, red ketchup and brutal scenes, not for the faint of heart. Directed by Michael Herz starring Mitch Cohen. This bad boy falls under the classic Troma over the top film. As the name says a nerdy janitor turns into a toxic vigilante after falling into some toxic waste. You can watch the kill count on Youtube if you are brave enough.Rasto brings us back to reality with Three Pines from 2022 which he still gave a half descent score. Created by Emilia di Girolamo and starring Alfred Molina. This is a Canadian Film, from Montreal that explores the life of a small towns sins and how the residents navigate each others crimes while still trying to remain neighbours. There is one other ‘Meh' film that Rasto brought to our attention and that is sleeping Dogs starring Russell Crowe from 2024 which was in his opinion just meh.... This is a public episode. This Week in Geek's Loose Cannon is our all around movies podcast covering the weird, wild, or sometimes nostalgic world of films. This time, our crew of Birdman, Ken, and David discuss the breath that is the Disney Aladdin Trilogy of films. That's right we talk about the original 1992 classic, its TV direct to video movie Return of Jafar, and the direct to video film that completed the trilogy King of Thieves. We also touch on the legacy of Howard Ashman and the subtle little touches that almost made it into the first film, how Return of Jafar feels lesser and how King of Thieves ends the series of films on a better note. It's time to head to a land in a faraway place where the caravan camels roam with the Aladdin Trilogy. It's another TWIG Loose Cannon. It's our favorite time of year again! We've got two movies that ostensibly feature a countdown to tragedy on Halloween night, but really we're mostly here to talk up Salem tourism with 1993's Hocus Pocus. After that, it's glorious whatthefuckery that only Cannon can bring you with 1990's Rockula, and we wonder where this movie has been all our lives.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37

Send us a textI swear they are listening to us?Who is “They”? You now, “Them”! On Season 3 Episode 16 of You Heard It Here Last, Christina and I talked about the fact that somebody at EN World really loved Deathstalker.I just found out that by the time you hear this episode Deathstalker will once again be in movie theaters. That's right they are remaking the campy Conan rip-off, and it looks like they are doing it the proper way…with another “B” Movie version. But that's not what this one is about. In our episode I said that if we were going to have a Roger Corman TTRPG it should have been Death Race 2000 and look what EN World did. They have written another 2 part piece about Death Race 2000 as a TTRPG. https://www.enworld.org/threads/where%E2%80%99s-the-death-race-2000-roleplaying-game-part-one.715287/Mike, I know you are not a big “B” Movie fan like Christina and I, but I can't help but feel like we are starting to see some throwback themes in roll playing to the 80's and even 70's. The 80's makes sense with Stranger Things, but what's your take on roleplaying games starting to mine our childhoods for inspiration?[Kick to Mike]Since I've got Mike here, we might as well dive into his favorite genre.Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night is a solo or cooperative card game set in the world of R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk. It's an officially licensed game and just premiered on Kickstarter…and it blew past it's funding goal in 19 minutes.https://www.rascal.news/cyberpunk-legends-hacks-the-system-500k-raised-in-under-a-day/At the time of recording this it is at 3 quarters of a million dollars and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down much.Mike, why do you think Cyberpunk in general is so popular and is this just an example of a game riding the coattails of other games or is it something else?[Kick to Mike]And there you have it…all the news, you've already heard.
From the deepest forests of Norway (okay, maybe not) comes the latest episode of GBW.Of the sixteen films covered this time we talk P.T. The 1990s were the center of a new and exciting film movement, one where the major studios didn't have sole discretion as to which movies made it to the public; they all had pretend boutique sub-companies buying independent films from the festival circuit for that. This week, we look at two of those that rode the Sundance gauntlet to a tiny art house theater near you: 1998's Smoke Signals and 1995's Living in Oblivion! William Castle always new that the hoopla surrounding a movie was as big a part of the experience as the movie itself. This time around, we take a look at 1959's The Tingler, a film that introduced the world to the wonders of Percepto that had the added bonus of Vincent Price absolutely dripping with ham. Then, 1993's Matinee! is a loving callback to a simpler time when the looming threat of thermonuclear annihilation could be staved off with monster movies presented by a carnival showman.Email: info@channel-40.comTwitter: @WHXN40

We're hopping in our George Pal-approved wayback machine to a time when people made movies that looked and felt an awful lot like older movies. We could just go watch the older movies, but meh. Anyway. First up, we got our Hammer on with 2015's The Love Witch! After that, we stuck around for an 80s post-apocalypse by way of Tom and Jerry cartoons with 2015's Turbo Kid!Email: info@channel-39.comTwitter: @WHXN39
In this episode, we sit down with Tricia Cooke — the creative force behind the recent lesbian comedies Drive-Away Dolls and Honey Don't. Married to filmmaker Ethan Coen (yes, of the Coen brothers), Tricia has long identified as a lesbian, and we dive into how that identity intersects with her decades-long, straight-presenting poly marriage. The conversation spans two interviews a year apart: first, in Tricia and Ethan's Manhattan home following the release of Drive-Away Dolls, and then more recently, as Honey Don't hits theaters. From her early days in the film industry to the making of a queer B-movie trilogy, Tricia shares it all — including some juicy behind-the-scenes moments and insights into working with Honey Don't stars, Aubrey Plaza and Margaret Qualley. Somebody Poisoned the Water Supply! Uncle Jesse is in over his head in this one as he tries to stop the evil and apocalyptic Gene Simmons in NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE (1986). This action movie is part James Bond, part Mad Max and part Beverly Hills 90210. Get ready for some questionable relationships, ridiculous shootouts and some obvious stunt doubles. Bad movies...we've all seen them, be it on late-night TV or as part of a midnight screening or maybe even being riffed on by the guys from Mystery Science Theater 3000 but, why are we drawn to them, what makes some of them cult-favorites and why do we watch them over and over again? Is it purely out of morbid curiosity? Is it simply to make fun of them or is it that these movies serve as an example of how NOT to make a movie? All these questions (and many more) "might" be answered tonight as we, along with long-time friend of the show, Josh Dahlin, talk all about bad movies. Also, Josh tells us all about his upcoming DARK ARTS FESTIVAL!!!
Send us a textKiller worms with a side of Bacon. In the 90s, this was more than enough for us. This week we're going the full six degrees of something-or-other trying to interpret this ridiculous 1990 B-movie. Kevin Bacon's hair stars as Val, the garbage man turned worm basher. Along for the ride is Fred Ward's Earl, who repeatedly ask us to pardon his French. And we do willingly. Stick around to the end when the boys talk about their favorite B-Movies. It B terrible.
Sean from Montreal is hearing otherworldly noises from his Dodge Caravan and Mark from New York wants to transplant the heart and lungs of his Chevy Suburban into a fresh corpse. In this episode of Horror Hour with the Hanna's, we take a plunge into Piranha 3D (2010), Alexandre Aja's gleefully gory remake of the cult classic. What starts as spring break fun on Lake Victoria quickly turns into a blood-soaked feeding frenzy when prehistoric piranhas are unleashed on unsuspecting partygoers. With over-the-top kills, wild special effects, and a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, this film delivers campy chaos that embraces its B-movie roots. We explore the film's outrageous set pieces, its blend of horror and comedy, and whether the 3D gimmick still holds up today. Is it mindless schlock or brilliantly self-aware splatter? Send us a textDo you remember Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive from the 80s? We remember liking this movie a lot. We admit that it was a little cheesy back then, and we're hoping that this turns out to be a whole lot of 80s cheesy goodness. So join us as we go back to 1986 when machines turned on their makers, forcing Emilio Estevez, under the direction of Stephen King, to fight back and show those machines who made who.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?
