It was a great time and we had the opportunity to play a bunch of group games, eat a ton of food, and test our Halloween knowledge through Wits and Wagers, what a classic. We even got the chance to do a local constructed deck Star Wars Unlimited tournament that sucked in a bunch of new players. So, in a way, we were like a bunch of vampires and brought them into the fold Magical Athlete is a riotous racing game where fantasy characters with wildly asymmetric powers compete in unpredictable sprints. It's light, fast, dice rolling game that will have hilarious moments throughout the game—perfect for groups who love a bit of chaos. Dirt & Dust, by contrast, is a deck builder that leans into the solitaire play with players trying to solve their own challenges while not really being impacted by others. Then there's Railroad Tiles, a spatial puzzle that rewards clever planning and route optimization. It's a satisfying blend of tactical tile placement and long-term strategy, ideal for fans of games like Carcassonne or Metro. Finally, Umami brings a unique twist to the table: a culinary-themed game that's all about balancing flavors and crafting harmonious dishes. With elegant mechanics and a soothing aesthetic, it's a game that feels like a warm bowl of ramen on a rainy day. Together, these four titles form a kind of tasting menu for board gamers—each one distinct, memorable, and worth savoring. Whether you're in the mood for laughter, clever puzzles, or thematic immersion, this quartet offers a delicious spread of experiences. Just like the buffet table at BooBQ. Interview with Rudi Deysel, Board MD & CEO OF West Wits MiningOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/west-wits-mining-asxwwi-gold-producer-doubles-npv-to-500m-with-81-irr-in-updated-dfs-7533Recording date: 30th October 2025West Wits Mining (ASX:WWI) has successfully transitioned from project developer to gold producer, achieving a significant milestone on October 14, 2025, with its first underground ore production in South Africa's renowned Witwatersrand Basin. Managing Director and CEO Rudi Deysel confirmed that following a three-month mobilization period beginning in July, the company completed its first physical blast and ore transport from the mine. The project's unique structure allows for simultaneous development and production, facilitated by previous early works that established an operational footprint. "We actually produced our first ore around the 14th of October. So that was the first physical blast and first transport of ore out of the mine," Deysel stated. Stockpiles are being transported to Sibanye Stillwater's Ezulwini processing plant under tolling arrangements, enabling the company to generate revenue while advancing development.Early results have exceeded expectations, with production tracking marginally above resource model forecasts. Ground conditions have proven excellent, with fresh rock and strong stability allowing rapid advancement of the one-east and one-west temporary declines. Drilling and blasting cycle times are completing within single shifts, with the operation progressing toward multi-blast approvals that could double production capacity at working faces.West Wits has implemented modern hydropower technology over traditional compressed air systems common in older South African mines, delivering significant power savings by eliminating compression losses and leakage issues. The company has also deployed digital infrastructure including volume scanning, electronic sampling systems, and real-time vibration monitoring. The project remains fully funded through to steady-state production of 70,000 ounces annually, with an eight-to-nine-month payback period at current gold prices. Management maintains a disciplined focus on establishing sustainable mining practices and quality standards during this critical ramp-up phase, while pursuing a longer-term growth target of 200,000 ounces per annum within three years. "Once you prove yourself as a good operator and you deliver what you promised then you really get financial partners that support you," Deysel emphasized.View West Wits Mining's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/west-wits-miningSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Stephen Grootes speaks to Brian Benfield, retired Wits economics professor and senior associate at the Free Market Foundation, about why he believes South Africa’s costly KYC and FICA regime has failed. Benfield argues that decades of compliance have delivered little success in curbing financial crime while eroding financial privacy and personal liberty. Instead, he says, these regulations have created a costly surveillance system with minimal benefit and unintended economic damage. The Money Show is a podcast hosted by well-known journalist and radio presenter, Stephen Grootes. If you could design the perfect fitness app, what would it do? Let me know at witsandweights.com/question--What if a fitness app could actually think like a human coach? Not just track your activities, but understand them, analyze them, and make intelligent adjustments in real-time?That's exactly what I'm designing: an AI-driven fitness coach in your pocket built on the Wits & Weights philosophy of personalized, sustainable body recomposition, built on sound principles of evidence, physique engineering, and experience. It will adapt dynamically to your training, nutrition, lifestyle, and biofeedback as you take action and make progress. It will motivate you and provide accountability. It will "close the loop" between what you do and the results you're seeing. The tentative launch timeline is this November 2025!And I need your help. What would the PERFECT fitness app do?I want to hear YOUR ideas!Go to witsandweights.com/question and let me know.

Hey there, health warriors! Ever wondered why that burst of motivation to hit the gym or eat right always seems to fizzle out? In this crossover episode of Salad with a Side of Fries, Jenn Trepeck shares her featured episode on the Wits and Weights podcast to spill the beans on making wellness stick without the hype.In this special episode, Jenn and Philip Pape get real about swapping motivation for discipline and commitment, showing how small, consistent steps—like turning daily tasks into exercise or using gamification for accountability—build unstoppable momentum. They dive into why consistency is more important than intensity, how to avoid the mental trap of food tracking, and the power of understanding science/biology to transform nutrition choices. It's a fun, no-nonsense guide to crafting sustainable habits that fit your life! The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast, hosted by Jenn Trepeck, explores real-life wellness and weight loss, clearing up myths, misinformation, and bad science surrounding our understanding of nutrition and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store.IN THIS EPISODE: (00:00) Intro: A message from Jenn(04:14) Phillip introduces Jenn on his podcast called Wits and Weights, topic: motivation (06:42) Discussion of motivation, momentum, discipline and commitment (11:20) Discussion about accountability and consistency in wellness routines.(13:54) Reframing daily activities as exercise, suggesting consistency in small movements (23:11) The inverse relationship between consistency, intensity, and low-intensity(30:12) Jenn shares a personal example involving ketchup and food swaps(36:13) Accountability, gamification or a personal trainer to support habit formation(41:07) Jenn discusses obsession over nutritional thoughts and tracking tools(46:50) Jenn shares how understanding the "why" behind nutrition transforms emotional decisions into intellectual ones(51:58) Listener blip: Phillips' client shares weight loss story(54:53) Emotional eating(1:00:32) Jenn's advice: How daily movement is critical and the 30-30-30 planKEY TAKEAWAYS:Motivation is unreliable; discipline and commitment drive sustainable habit formation by prioritizing action over waiting for inspiration.Consistency trumps intensity in achieving long-term wellness and weight loss, as small, manageable steps build momentum effectively.Accountability, whether through a personal trainer or gamification, supports behavior change by aligning actions with individual goals and capacity.QUOTES: (07:05) “I often hear ‘I know what to do, I'm just waiting to want to do it. I'm supposed to want to do this.' and it's such BS. We've been taught that motivation comes first, so we're all sitting around waiting for lightning to strike.” Jenn Trepeck (08:14) “We think we're broken. Fundamentally, you are not broken. There is nothing wrong with you. We've been fed a line that motivation is what we need, and it's not. I call it a different M word: Momentum, because in the beginning, motivation actually looks like discipline.” Jenn Trepeck(10:08) “You've gotta have a catalyst and we wanna distinguish that catalyst from motivation. I think people get overwhelmed with thinking like, ‘oh my God, I have to go to the gym three days a week, how am I gonna keep getting motivated to do that?' and it's just this thought that festers.” Phillip Pape(24:11) “So consistency and intensity are inversely correlated. The more intense something is, the harder it is to be consistent with it.” Jenn Trepeck(30:04) “You're not just...

Wurdzin doesn't make any sense to me, but if you can get a lucky streak with your guesses, I guess you could really break the game economy here! House M'Shalia LOTS of lore here. There are way more things in the upstairs rooms and attics that you interact with than you might think. Make sure to turn on the option that makes interactables shiny! House of Benediction Obviously this is where the big showdown is, but did you know that if you go here during the day time you can get healed, get your debuffs cleansed, and get a buff! Town Hall & Jail & House Burzin I think you can advance through the main plot here instead of through the House of Chance/M'Shalia route, but I haven't had a chance to load my old save and try it yet. Let me know on the forum and I'l update this! Burned Down Buildings You can check for clues at each of these locations, but the most important one is in the southwest. That's where the Saloon burned down. Shops Mining Supplies This is basically a “tool store” from other towns, so if you need any consumables from those, you can get them here. Clean Water Lodge & Crebbs Potions & Poultices I listed these together because they share the same interior on screen, just with a door between the two front desks. You get to stay here for free as long as the main story is ongoing (assuming you rescued Frenk), so make sure to use it before you leave town. The next time you come back, he'll charge you!. Wilfer's Wits and Weaponry If you happen to have the asta, there are some pretty great weapons here! The Solium Bow (Dex+Dex, HR+8 Fire Damage, gives you Resistance to Fire) is especially great! Also, if you interact with the third bookcase three times, you can find “An Accounting of Spiritual Matters,” which gives you a huge bonus when fighting the boss here, plus can be used afterwards as a mage weapon. Serah's Surcoats I think the flame resistant armor is overpriced, but the Sungleam Shield is GREAT for Antistrophe. It's a big upgrade for both of his defenses, plus you can basically give people a solar flare from DBZ XD Side Quests / Other Residential District Mostly just NPCs to talk to about things here. I love the two brothers who hate each other. First Bank of Burzin Always remember to deposit any extra asta you have into the bank. Not only will it prevent you from losing some if you die in combat, it also actually slowly gains in value! I guess they have interest in Perpetua! Post Office This probably deserves its whole own entry, but did you know that if you have both East and West saves, you can actually transfer items between them? You just choose the “Send a Gift to a Random Person” option and pay the fee. The “random person” is actually a character in your other save game! It does take a little while to get there though. Abandoned Buildings Just a good place to grind against lanterns!
