“Send Coach John a message”I used to run “2 for 1 Specials” with my students when I would find a great article for them to read and reflect on with their summary + opinions and thoughts. The special was that I counted it also for one of their weekly articles that they had to turn in as well. I'm just reconnecting to a past part of my life that I loved very much… teaching… but we go on with this episode description. I found two uplifting posts and both of them were re-tweeted (reposted) from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) who is someone that I connect with a lot on social media. First he shared this clip from Mel Robbins (@MelRobbins) where she was interviewing Trent Shelton (@TrentShelton) - the reminder that Mark connected with this clip, is something similar to what I would say too:  “To anyone who needs to hear this -  If you feel like you've lost your way, please know that better days are coming, my friend. Don't give up.” Such a simple and heart-felt message for anyone and everyone that needs the reminder to just keep going!! The second connection also from Mark was a clip from Inky Johnson (@InkyJohnson) and Mark's summary:   “It's not what you do … it's who you are! It's how you operate… how you treat people! It's not what gets you there … it's what keeps you there!  Do what's right … not what's easy! It's how you life your life!”  I found it very interesting that these two came just about back to back in my feed this morning. Both messages are tied into lifting me up and encouraging me - which I'm finding I need every day! I hope these help you too!!  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.  ** I would appreciate anyone to try clicking on the top of the show notes where it says "Send us a text" to leave a few thoughts / comments / questions.  It's a new feature that I'd like to see how it works. **

“Send Coach John a message”I have always loved mornings.  Looking back as a little kid, I knew I was a morning person early on in my life. This post from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) helped me to remember one of many reasons why I connect with mornings.  “Every morning, we get a chance to be different.  A chance to change. A chance to be better. Your past is your past. Leave it there. Get on with the future part.” - Nicole Williams said this. It's a reminder for all of us that we can start out our day differently than what we've done in the past. It's a new opportunity to continue great things or to start over with something new and great!  I like this reminder from the standpoint of always looking to be better and do better.  I need this reminder for the simple fact that I can start my days out in a positive and awesome direction. I know you can too. **

“Send Coach John a message”Found a great reminder for me personally that I need to read more and the importance of taking the time to do it! From TeacherGoals (@teachergoals) “Reading counts. - Reading forces you to be quiet in a world that no longer makes a place for that.” That is a quote from John Green.  It seems that the world is getting noisier and more hectic as each day passes. As I typed that thought out, I also know that probably many of the previous generations probably thought the same thing. I take time to start my day by reading a little bit. However, that is not where it should end for me. I need to take more time throughout my days to slow down and read more. I have plenty of things to read that are good for me. That inspires me. That makes me want to be better and do better in my life. When I do, I find that I can handle the “loudness” of the world a bit better. Maybe this is something for you to get re-connected with too? I know a good friend of mine really takes the time to pause life here and there to get some reading done. It brings joy to her soul and it helps her be her best for the life that she wants to live. She wrote a very nice note to my wife recently and my wife shared it with me. This helps me to want to do the same! Thanks Heather for sharing that with my wife, who shared it with me. **

WestJet also made economy class seats non-reclinable, offering passengers the option to pay extra for adjustable seats. In a news statement, the company said it will reverse what it called the "densified seating" by removing the additional row of seats.WHO DO YOU BLAME?Samantha (Sam) Taylor was appointed WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Experience Officer March 2025. While he also personally holds a significant portion of the Subordinate Voting Shares (SVS)—roughly 11.3% as of late 2024—the primary mechanism of his control is the MVS class. All stupid U.S. dual class dictatorships who do not do this!!The "Sunset" Provision: In May 2023, Onex shareholders approved a plan to implement a "sunset" on these special voting rights. Under this agreement, Schwartz's multiple voting rights are scheduled to expire three years after the effective date of the amendment (roughly May 2026).Current Status: As we are currently in early 2026, Schwartz remains the controlling shareholder. Upon the "Event of Change" later this year, the Multiple Voting Shares will convert into Subordinate Voting Shares, and he will lose his absolute control, shifting the company toward a more traditional governance structure.Matt Damon says Netflix wants to make action movies differently to account for shorter attention spansHow the art of filmmaking is being subvertedThe "Say What You Do" Rule: Writers are frequently being told to eliminate subtext. In traditional filmmaking, if a character is sad, you show them staring at a cold cup of coffee. Now, streamers often request that the character explicitly say, "I'm just so sad right now," or have another character ask, "Why are you so sad?"The Reason: If you are looking at your phone during a silent, emotional shot, you miss the story. If the character says it out loud, you can follow the plot without looking at the screen.Heightened Audio Cues: If you've noticed that modern movies have very aggressive sound design—sudden loud bangs, dramatic musical stings, or high-pitched notification-like sounds—it's often intentional. The "Audio Hook": These sounds act like a "ping" to pull your eyes back from your phone to the TV. It's a literal alarm clock for your attention. The "First 10 Minutes" Mandate: In the past, a movie could have a "slow burn" opening (think 2001: A Space Odyssey). Today, Netflix and other streamers use data that shows exactly when a user hits the "Back" button. The Note: Writers are told that a "major event" (an explosion, a death, or a massive hook) must happen within the first 2 to 5 minutes. If the "inciting incident" happens at the 20-minute mark, the data shows they will lose 30% of the audience to TikTok.Centered Framing: Cinematographers are increasingly being told to keep the "important" action in the center of the frame. The Reason: This makes the content easier to view on a mobile device if the user decides to switch from the TV to their phone, or if they are watching a cropped "clip" of the movie on social media later.Increased "Recapping": Have you noticed characters summarizing what just happened more often? The "TikTok Brain" Fix: Because people are multitasking, they often lose the thread of the plot. Streamers now encourage dialogue like, "So, let me get this straight, we have to get the key from the vault before the guard returns in five minutes?" It's a recap for someone who tuned out for the last three minutes.WHO DO YOU BLAME?Netflix: Ted Sarandos & Greg Peters (Co-CEOs of Netflix), Reed Hastings, Jay HoagDrug CEOs (re: The Algorithm): Passive Viewing: Data shows that up to 94% of people use a phone while watching TV.TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew: TikTok is widely considered the pioneer of the "Short-Form Video" era. Its algorithm is specifically designed to provide "intermittent reinforcement" (like a slot machine), which studies suggest can reduce the ability to focus on long-term tasks.Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg: Zuckerberg pivoted Facebook and Instagram (Reels) to aggressively compete with TikTok. Critics argue this transition turned a platform for connection into one of "passive scrolling" that further erodes focus.YouTube CEO Neal Mohan: Under his leadership, YouTube Shorts was launched to capture the short-attention-span market. Even YouTube co-founder Steve Chen has recently warned that these short videos are "shrinking kids' attention spans."Smartphones: Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs MMStanford: The "Father of Persuasive Tech": B.J. FoggStanford's Persuasive Technology Lab, run by B.J. Fogg, taught many of the founders and early employees of Instagram and Facebook. The "Fogg Behavior Model" taught engineers how to use "triggers" and "rewards" to change human behavior through software. He provided the scientific framework that allowed tech companies to treat the human brain like hardware that could be "hacked" for maximum engagement.Trump calls NYSE Dallas expansion plans 'unbelievably bad' for New York: Trump says move poses 'big test' for newly inaugurated Mayor Zohran Mamdani. WHICH HYPOCRISY DO YOU BLAME?The Free Market BullshitTrump and Texas leaders have long championed the freedom of businesses to flee blue-state regulations. However, now that a prestigious icon like the NYSE is actually expanding to Dallas, Trump has pivoted to calling it "unbelievably bad" for New York. The Anti-Woke /Anti-ESG scaremongeringTexas frames itself as a "Sanctuary from Socialism," yet the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE) is being used to bypass ESG transparency. While railing against woke mandates, these leaders are creating their own ideological silos—demanding a protected market where management isn't held accountable by shareholders for social or environmental impacts.Texas AG Ken Paxton described BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard as an "investment cartel" that was "illegally controlling national energy markets" and "squeezing more money out of hardworking Americans."Paxton sent a formal warning to Larry Fink and other CEOs, stating that their "radical environmental policies" and "race-based quotas" (DEI) would face severe enforcement actions if they prioritized "politics over consumers."Lead by example: Trump quits NYC and Musk's Dexit to Y'all StreetThroughout his 2024 campaign, Trump consistently compared New York unfavorably to states like Florida and Texas: as an example, he pointed to the lack of state income tax in Florida as a reason why "everyone is leaving New York." Elon Musk's Dexit from Delaware/California is sold as a strike for freedom, yet his empire is built on nearly $40 billion in government subsidies and contracts. He moved to Texas to escape over-regulation (re: his pay package and people being mad about nooses in his factories) while simultaneously heading the most over-regulatory body ever: Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).Leader name calling and scaremongeringTrump's pre-bromance attacks on New York's new mayor, Zohran Mamdani (communist lunatic" and a "Marxist"). Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson (UPenn, Harvard, Princeton): "un-American socialist impulse" and explicitly marketed Dallas as a "sanctuary from socialism" for businesses looking to Dexit New York. The Elite vs. Common Man NonsenseDespite bullshit Y'all Street populist framing, the Texas Stock Exchange is backed by the world's most powerful financial titans. There is no common man victory here; it is the CEO class moving the financial capital to a jurisdiction with fewer labor protections and less oversight. The Big Four Anchor InvestorsBlackRock: (managing ~$14 trillion), despite being the primary target of "anti-woke" and anti-ESG rhetoric from the same politicians who support the TXSE.Citadel Securities: Led by Ken Griffin, this firm executes roughly 1 in 4 of all stock trades in the U.S. Left Chicago for Miami.J.P. Morgan Chase: Jamie Dimon. Joined in 2025 during a $90 million funding round and holds an observer seat on the board.Charles Schwab: handles over 50% of U.S. retail stock orders.MATTWalmart International CEO Kath McLay to step down - WHO DO YOU BLAME?Half exiting CEO Doug McMillonMcLay was under McMillon her entire tenure at WalMart, raised to CEO of the international divisionClearly a protege - passed over for the new CEO?Incoming CEO John FurnerThe white guy who became CEO is such an interesting new story, but Furner started as a sales clerk and has been with the WALTONS a long time through Sam's Club as CEO, another Walton jointFurner/McMillon/Walton family named David Guggina CEO of Walmart US (passing McLay), Chris Nicholas replace McLay, Seth Dallaire was made chief growth officer… rounding out an all male promotion cycle of new execs - no women in major positionsMaybe McLay read the tea leaves - women got chief legal and chief of people, like everywhere else, but leave the big jobs to the swinging dicks. The compensation and management development committee, who according to the company charter, ir responsible to “periodically review and recommend to the full Board succession planning practices for the Company's CEO and other executive officers.”Carla Harris (chair) - black woman with “multicultural” in her job description at Morgan Stanley who apparently didn't apply “multiculturalism” to Walmart executive search?Marissa Mayer - yes, THAT Marissa Mayer, who is on the board of Starbucks with Brian Niccol and AT&T where Randall Stephenson was CEOBrian Niccol - CEO of Starbucks, with no conflict by having Marissa Mayer on the same boardRandall Stephenson - ex CEO of AT&T, with no conflict of interest by having Marissa Mayer on the board. Look, for example, at quantitative and systematic managers, who often operate models that merely seek exposures to identified sources of alpha.”Index investors: “But it may be appropriate for these categories of investment advisers (and the Boards that exercise oversight over this function) to consider whether taking positions on fundamental corporate matters, or on precatory proposals, is consistent with their investment mandates.”Hedging himself: “So, there is no stock answer to the “Must I vote?” question... Instead, it is important that advisers and clients have a fair amount of latitude to decide what works in their individual cases.”Threatening using proxy advisors: “And if we are raising issues for consideration, I will also mention, because the President did, that there is real concern out there that habitual adherence to a proxy consultant's recommendations could pull an adviser into a Section 13(d) group.”Investors, because no matter what Brian Daly suggests, investors almost never vote against management and neither do proxy advisors, so what the fuck are we talking about?Cost, because Daly points out, “And in assessing proposed votes, investment advisers might utilize the Fiduciary Interpretation's concept of a “reasonable inquiry into the client's objectives.” If an investment adviser routinely follows a proxy advisor's stock recommendations without a tailored engagement or independent analysis, is this “reasonable inquiry?” Maybe, but it is certainly worth thinking about. And, to go back to the first question, if the voting process is so burdensome that it requires extensive external resources, why is the adviser voting at all?”John Chevedden, along with Jim McRitchie, without whom we have maybe half the shareholder rights as SP500 companies, and who the no-action data is now showing is disproportionately getting responses for exclusion from the SEC (as if to double down on the idea that we can ignore those commie socialists entirely, but we want to tell you explicitly you're totally legally cool and there's no threat if you exclude Chevedden). Chevedden might be the reason investors were voting at all - maybe now they won't have to?

“Send Coach John a message”A good morning of reflections and connecting. I found this one of many that I needed to let percolate a bit in my mind and heart. It comes from Seek Wiser (@SeekWiser_) and it reminds us that “Your greatest weapon is your mind. Train it to see opportunities, not obstacles.” So many things going on around us and throughout the world. I'm working hard to not get distracted by trying to keep up with all of it. I'm trying to focus in on being in the moment a bit more and seeing opportunities and not victim thinking of doubt, worry and not believing in myself.  If I can use this and connect with this thought, more moments that I have throughout each day - wow… there's going to be some good things coming from those choices.  Hope this works for you too my friends. **

“Send Coach John a message”Powerful and emotional continuation with honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., today - I found this from The Nobel Prize (@NobelPrize) where this quote was shared: "I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war." In this episode I shared a snippet of his Nobel Peace Prize speech, where he accepted the award on behalf of the American civil rights movement. Check out this link  bit.ly/3bJCQuc #MLKDay that has a bit more info about this time in our history.  Again, this is a reminder for me first of all, and anyone else that wants to listen - that we must be better! In all parts of living our lives. We are more alike than we are different. I know I need to keep getting better in all areas of my life. I know I want to have a life worth remembering that stood for doing good, helping others rather than hurting them & causing troubles. We humans are still fighting a battle of letting evil win over goodness. We have not learned the lesson yet and we have always struggled with it - just look throughout history. We have history to learn from. To improve. To fix the wrongs that we humans have created. All of us have a lot to work on, but it's worth it for sure. **

“Send Coach John a message”I was reading a passage from Brian Johnson's book “Arete” and it's all about having “Rebound Days”. It's all about bouncing back from tough days. Great quote from George Leonard, where he reminds us to have a “willingness to take one step back for every two forward, sometimes vice-versa.”  It's a key to simply understand that this happens to everyone and at times, it's taking 4 or 5 steps backwards then going sideways and then eventually going in a forward direction. I was connecting with Jon Gordon too (@JonGordon11) and he had a leadership training session the past two days - free too! Those things are out there my friends. We need to keep investing in ourselves so that when we do get knocked backwards and down in life (which we will), we will have the sense, confidence and the tools to get back up and get going again. Great stuff is out there. Find it. “Send Coach John a message”I picked this one up from arobmoney (@arobmoney) and I think it's a great message of community celebrating things that bring people together. Sports (and other things) do that magically. Once again, I'm intrigued on how to connect with more of things like this in my life, because those “things” are out there for sure. I want to have them help me pay attention more to things that really matter in life instead of the ugliness that is all around us! Hope this helps you do the same. This is spot on - it is indeed, more than a game… it's about life! **

“Send Coach John a message”Recently there was a news reporter Lynn Jones, who was at the press conference of Coach Liam Coen from the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL. He was speaking to the press after losing a close playoff game and the interaction between him and her simply took roughly 24 seconds to pay him a compliment and to encourage him to keep his head up high! It's absolutely stunning and embarrassing the number of people that are complaining about what she said along with the fact that she should not be there in the first place!!  Come on people!!  We need to be better than this. We all need encouragement like what Ms. Jones shared with the coach. We can all give encouragement to others too, instead of constantly bringing people down and causing trouble!  Listen to her compliments HERE. Just like someone mentioned, I may need to replay this a few times when I'm feeling down in life. **

“Send Coach John a message”I came across a closing tag in a posting from my former principal where I was a teacher, and it read - ““Stay SHARP, Shorians! Safe...Helpful...Accountable...Responsible...Present”  First of all, our nickname was the Shorians (since our school and district is on the shores of a major lake here in Michigan and it's connected to ancient people who came from the shores of northern Europe & Russia). Our district has been around for over 100 years and we took the ideas of  "heroic optimism, confidence, and the transformative power of education, as described by the school.” This caught my eye for not only helping to remind young people about some powerful life skills, but also for those of us that maybe might not be classified as “young people”. In other words, this is for everyone to connect with. This is a great reminder on how important it is to connect with being safe, helpful, accountable, responsible and present; all throughout life. Again, our world needs people that have a bit more connection to how all of us are more alike than different and that we need each other a bit more than some people want us to believe. **

“Send Coach John a message”From Positivity Inspired (@inspiringmyday) comes this quote from Benjamin Franklin - “Lost time is never found again.” To me, this is something that goes with a major game plan of mine, becoming more focused! I waste so much time - especially with all the distractions that are out there. I need to connect with those moments when they present themselves to also connect with the best choice on how to use my time in those moments. It's amazing how fired up I get when connecting with things & people like this. They speak right to my soul. Even during dark times, I always find myself gravitating towards things and people like Inky and Mark. In today's world my friends and for what seems to be getting crazier every day - we need to find ways to not only keep our joy, but to keep bringing it every single day! “Send Coach John a message”I found so many things that I wanted to (and could have) share with you today. It could easily be 10 podcasts. This one connected with me first and it came from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) and he shared this preview of what the post was all about:  “A message for today … Don't be afraid to embrace life, chase your dreams and live fully. Show up every day with passion and courage, and let nothing hold you back. Life is rare and beautiful—go all in with it!” His post moved me so much and I shared these thoughts on his post as I shared it with others: “I could do so much better with this for my life… I've had my moments of not being afraid, but not like I know I could have. Good news for me, I can show up today - right in this moment I have - with passion, courage, love, etc., and do my best with the task at hand.”  I shared a lot about this in today's episode and it honestly connects with a lot of the thoughts, feelings, ideas swirling around in my head from other items I have connected with this morning - but I hope (as I always do) this gets you thinking and then acting in a direction that helps you with the things going on in your life. Whatever it is, keep it up! **

“Send Coach John a message”I remember this guy from when I was much younger.  In fact around 10 when I remember hearing about Clint Hurdle (@ClintHurdle13) since he was drafted 9th overall by the Kansas City Royals in the mid 1970's. He has been around baseball for a long time and now he's sharing stories and lessons from the great game that can help all of us, whether we even like baseball, let alone play it. He shared this gem: “We're not finished products. Continue to grow. Look for growth opportunities every day.”  I love this quick and simple thought, that we as humans (especially this human), seem to have trouble understanding the validity of this thought. He has inspired me by his humility and love for helping others. Coach Hurdle has mentioned recently that he really looked to change and grow a couple of years ago, so he started out on his journey of writing a book. I got his book as a Christmas gift from my parents and I'm starting to read it. Which for me is also writing in the book, taking notes, underlining, sharing items from it, etc. A BIG suggestion I have for you is to go out and get your own copy that you can write in if you want to. “Send Coach John a message”I found something I wanted to share and it comes from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) and it's something that adds to my strength and optimism here in the new year.  “Remaining positive doesn't mean you have to be happy all the time.  It means that even on tough days, you hold onto the belief that better days are on the horizon.” This is something that has been a part of my mindset for a long time. However, I needed reminding of this fact as there are plenty of times I forget the second part as I wallow away in dealing with negativity at times. It helps remind me that I am the one that has a major say in creating better days in my life!! Again, with all the “noise” going on around all of us - this helps to add to my strength of realizing that I'm more in control of my life than the “noise makers” think they are. **

“Send Coach John a message”Well, it's the last day of 2025 and this little post that I found from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) reminds us about our journey in life. He shares his thoughts: “A message for today … As 2025 comes to a close, take a moment to breathe. You made it through lessons you didn't always notice & strength you didn't always feel. If you're tired, you tried. If you're unsure, you're still becoming. The year ends—but your journey continues.”  The post he shares is from the Quotes Cafe that he shares something from every day. This one is: “As 2025 ends, take a quiet moment to breath. This year held struggles, lessons, and growth you didn't always notice - but you survived it all.  If you're tired, you tried. If you're unsure, you're still becoming.  Let go of what hurt, carry what taught you, and step into 2026 with a calmer heart and quiet hope. The year ends, but your journey continues.” This is a reminder that it's an every day item on my to do list. It's not just for a year. Breathing is always good. Learning lessons is always good. Putting in effort is always good. Find the little moments every day to connect with and build the life you want to build, each and every day you have. “Send Coach John a message”Sitting here with my co-producer on my lap (our dog), I'm thinking about it being the end of another year and what is coming in the next year. So many thoughts going through my mind, but everyone's mind.  For me this is tying into my “one word” for 2026. It's not the only word I will focus in on, but it will be one that will be connected to me more. It's really two words, but I'll call it one. “Focus” is the one word - and the second one that is connected to it - “Intentional”.  This one word idea comes from Jon Gordon (@jongordon11) and his book “One Word” (@GetOneWord) and Getoneword.com  This has to be a day by day choice. Moment by moment, and I know I need to put the work in on this more than simply talking about it. The first connection to this episode comes from Essential Mastery (@EssentialMastry) where this thought was shared and got my attention: “The most valuable asset you own isn't money. It's the ability to think clearly in a world designed to confuse you. Mental clarity is wealth.” This is spot on for me as I've struggled with it throughout my life. A second connection to this episode comes from Dear Self (@Dearme2_) where this very simple post got my attention - “2026 will be different. No more repeated cycles. It's time to grow.” Again, my “focus” should be on the moment to moment, day to day, growth that I need to connect with; not just the entire new year.  There is actually a third connection that I reposted just before this one from “Dear Self”. It comes from Your Best Version (@YourPrimePath) where this is shared: “Stick to the plan. Not your mood.” Way too often I let my mood dictate my thoughts and actions in particular moments. Even as I write this out and prepare to record, I'm catching my mind wanting to take me in other directions. It's awesome to be able to catch those moments and change the direction of my thoughts. Well, all I can say is it's great to connect with this as I look ahead to the new year. The year that I'll be turning 60. **

“Send Coach John a message”Well, the final piece is here. “Be flexible.” Changing our habits is not easy, it's hard work. But having a little flexibility sure can help us make the changes that will work for us. Love this quote from the poet John Dryden - “We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” If we are a bit more flexible, we can help ourselves find out what works for us. It's part of the journey of finding out how to connect a bit better with our new habits. I must admit for myself that anytime I can be a bit more flexible in life, things go a bit better compared to if I'm not flexible. It's good advice for many things in life. **

Send us a textThis one is something that I've been picking up more on as I get older (because I need it) “Focus on adding good habits, not breaking bad habits.”  When we focus on the positive things we want to do or create, instead of what we want to get rid of - it becomes a lot easier to keep the good ones going. Plus, we will see that the bad habits are simply going to be less and less of an impact on our lives. I need to connect with this one for sure. It's on my to-do list. Send us a textThis one I know will help me as I know I need to “Focus on one habit at a time.” I usually focus on many things at once and really none of them get accomplished. If they do, it takes a long time and probably it's not done as well as if I focused on just that. It's the same principle of focusing on small, simple things - uncomplicating it from becoming too large or too many. We can build many new habits if we focus on one at a time. Love this quote from the book on this one - “It's easy to keep adding one new habit at a time, but it's almost impossible to focus on many new habits at once.” That is something for me to zero in on me for sure. **

Send us a textAs I record this one - “Post a reminder of your commitment to your new, healthy habit”, I know I need to go do this. I need to have little written notes set for myself. I have one in my daily devotional book, which I read every day. I love what Sam Crowley says - “writing is the doing part of thinking.” I sure do think a lot. It's time for me to “do” more with my thinking. It's always about taking action and these little postings - remember, they are in my own writing - they are to myself! Nobody else sees them. It's me to me. Simple for all of us to do - but only if we actually do it does it become simple. I need to commit to this and I will do it.  Hope you find this one good for you too. **

Send us a textContinuing on with this awesome list of life-changing mindset areas for having more healthy habits… the third one is this: “Practice that habit faithfully and repeatedly.” Coach Wooden mentions trying to have our good habit scheduled for the same time every day.  The more faithfully we repeat an action, the easier it becomes for that action to become a habit. Over time, then it becomes more difficult to break the good habit. I need to keep this one close to my heart and also on my daily calendar in order to keep getting better.  Good stuff to focus on for me. **

Super powerful and inspiring post I found from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) “Never trust your fears; they don't know your strength.”  WOW… did I need to connect with this. My fears have had more of a driver's seat in my life than I care to admit and in driving “my bus”, when picking up my strengths at the different bus stops - many times they force my strengths to sit in the back of the bus or they never even stopped to pick them up!!  It's time for me to stop my bus (my life's journey) - not totally kick my fears off the bus because they are who I am in many ways. Maybe just have them sit in a seat behind me - buckled in… keep a few seats around them open for now so they don't influence “anyone else”. Life's journey is never dull when you take a look at yourself in the mirror and find the MANY things to keep working on to improve. So many things get better when we try to improve and be the best we can be!

I found a post from one of my favorite character actors from my childhood - Anson Williams, who played Potsie from the awesome show “Happy Days”. This post centered around the tragedy of Rob Reiner and his wife being killed over this past weekend.  It also brings to mind the sad and troubling examples of violence & evil with two high profile shootings this past weekend as well. It brings a reminder (sadly every day it seems we are being reminded) that the world needs to do better. What I mean by that is the people of the world need to do better. Anson's quote he shares coming from Rob is this:  “True greatness isn't just what you create — it's how you lift everyone around you while doing it.”  I know that if we examine a little deeper about what we are doing here with our time on earth, what our calling, purpose, burn, etc., is; along with how what we are doing affects other people. Is it helping them or hurting them? Is it encouraging or discouraging? Is it lifting others up, or constantly putting them down? Is it making this world a better place or making it worse along with our legacy?  We can do better. We must do better. I'm first in line looking to do better AND knowing I have to. I have plenty of room to improve in so many ways.
