Actor, author, and comedian Jon Glaser (Parks and Recreation, Delocated, Inside Amy Schumer, Neon Joe Werewolf Hunter) is turning his recent comedy album Jon Glaser's Soothing Meditations for the Solitary Dog into a live show that combines interactive artwork with storytelling, silly comedy, and support for shelters and organizations that care for pets and their owners. Jon reveals his desire to find an outlet for passion projects that are stupid but also do great work; how the project is evolving and reaching new people; how his new Instagram page highlights portraits created at his "VIP Sip & Paint" live events; and how meditations designed for dogs can help soothe our own very real anger and existential despair. Interview: I am joined by actor, writer, improviser, and producer Jon Glaser. Best know to many for guest starring roles on popular show like Park and Recreation and Girls, Jon Glaser has been a mainstay in the alternative comedy scene since landing writing gigs on the Dana Carvey Show and Late Night With Conan O'Brien. Glaser has long called New York his home, becoming a mainstay in the city's comedy scene and writing and starring in a trio of TV series: Delocated and Neon Joe on Adult Swim, and, more recently, TruTV's Jon Glaser Loves Gear. In anticipation of the mockumentary series' second season debuting this month, the comedian joined us to talk about working in New York, learning to write comedy and what's it's like playing an asshole version of yourself.
I didn't listen to this one beforehand but I remember that we did an all hints episode and it was funny. This picture is of an episode of Delocated in which the main character buys a potato skins bar that is very funny.
I'm moving to LA this week, so I wanted to take a break from producing an episode to settle into the new digs and recover from having to take two cats on a cross-country flight. And while I was getting ready for the move, I was cleaning up my hard drive and found some of the music from when Beginnings was a monthly live show at UCB East (every month we'd have a musical guest perform and then be interviewed). These performances are really fantastic, and I don't know how many people have heard them, so this week, I thought I'd put out a mixtape of Beginnings live show performances (and a couple of in-studio ones too). He's had recurring roles on shows like Flight of the Conchords and Delocated, he currently voices Gene Belcher on Bob's Burgers, he created The Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, and he frequently co-hosts Neil deGrasse Tyson's science show, Star Talk Radio. And that barely captures even a centimeter of Eugene's bio!Check out the website for Beginnings, subscribe on iTunes, and follow me on Twitter!

Fun!™
Holy Habitat for Humanities! This past Tuesday at UCB East we taped our 50th full episode of Beginnings, and hachi machi - our guests were so nice and funny that waves of good humor spread over the audience like a cool breeze coming from a desert oasis constructed entirely out of Ocean City, Maryland Fudge Factory brand fudge. Jon Glaser (writer on Conan, creator and star of Adult Swim's Delocated), Rachel Dratch (star of SNL, author of the new book Girl Walks into a Bar), Leo Allen (writer on SNL, co-creator of Jon Benjamin Has a Van, co-producer of Comedy Bang! Bang!) and James McNew (Dump, Yo La Tengo) all joined us for a night of songs, prawns and Shauns! Put your laughing gloves on, folks, because you're gonna need 'em!And if you enjoyed this, please subscribe on iTunes, and also join us every month at UCB East on the second Tuesday at 8pm. Next month(6/12) features Kurt Braunohler (IFC's new show Bunk and 1/2 of Kurt and Kristen) and Dan McCoy (writer on The Daily Show and 1/3 of The Flop House Podcast). It will be a comedy blast!
Lexington High School alumni (alumnis?) Pete and Eugene (Bob's Burgers, Delocated, comedy) get weird covering, amongst other things, why you could possibly yell "LEGEND!" at Eugene next time you see him, but probably shouldn't.
John Lee, along with his co-producer Vernon Chatman and their production/art collective PFFR, are the creators of some of the weirdest and funniest television of the last decade. They've been responsible for Wonder Showzen and Xavier: Renegade Angel. They executive produce and direct Jon Glaser's show Delocated, and their new six-night miniseries The Heart, She Holler debuts this Sunday on Adult Swim. Last week, we talked to John about how Jim Jarmusch inspired him to create, and this week, we'll talk about The Heart, She Holler. Subscribe to Beginnings on iTunes and write a review! If you do, let us know at jokes@wrestlingteam.org and we'll send you something!
John Lee, along with his co-producer Vernon Chatman and their production/art collective PFFR, have created some of the weirdest and funniest television of the past decade. Wonder Showzen, a show that shoved absurdity, politics and social commentary into a nonsensical children's show ran on MTV2 for two seasons and Xavier: Renegade Angel, a psychosexual spirit quest wrapped up in fast-paced absurdity and N64 graphics was an Adult Swim hit. Among other projects, John currently executive produces and directs Jon Glaser's show Delocated. A few weeks ago we sat down with John at his house in Brooklyn to discuss paper videogames, Occupy Wall Street, Jim Jarmusch, Ewok dogs, being open to randomness, and Gordon Lish. Mark maybe gets a job! Both of us mutate into giggling fanboys! It's fun!
Joe Mande is a nationally touring stand-up who's been on Best Week Ever and Live at Gotham. He's also the man behind the blog and book Look at This Fucking Hipster. Along with his co-host Noah Garfinkel, he hosts a monthly comedy show at UCB called Totally J/K, and he's written and performed in a number of stage shows including most recently, his adaptation of Glenn Beck's The Overton Window. Joe's also one of the newest writers on the Adult Swim show Delocated. A few weeks ago, we sat down with Joe in Madison Square Park before his set at Righteous Kill and discussed Isa and Oscar, yearbook contests, Mall of America stand-up, optometry apprenticeships, war stories, Right Guard, 9/11 Truthers, Judaism, surrealist interview techniques and Kobe Bryant as the Devil. Plus the debut of our new segment “The Unworkables”!
